Alaskans for Moose support aerial wolf control. Wolves are cool to watch but suck on the dinner table. They kill an average of 25 moose each per year (mostly babies) and drastically slow or prevent population declines from recovering after a sever winter mortality year. Aerial predator control is limited to areas with poor ungulate numbers and hungry Alaskans. Would you not spray something on your garden if bugs were eating all your veggies?

The USFWS/and the Idaho fish and game purposely inflated the elk numbers to as high as 110,000, so they could justify the illegal introduction of the Non Native Canadian Grey Wolf.
Some 5000 wolves now in three states, and it will take 24 elk each to feed them. That is 120,000 elk gone forever.

When I was up in Alaska they justified aerial "hunting" by claiming that the wolves and bears had reduced the moose population too far. Naturally, it couldn't be the "subsistence" hunters (villagers, largely Inuit and other natives) tooling around on snow machines with rifles shooting everything that moves that reduced the moose and caribou herds. It had to be the wolves. Right.

But I'm going to take the word of people who live in Alaska, who are familiar with wildlife in that state and just in a general way. Most of them will tell you that they have a thriving wolf population (which eats livestock, creating the need to cull them from time to time).
When I hear actresses with no wildlife expertise use the poor widdle wolves as an excuse to bash Palin, I know right away that actress is not sincere.
