@2042nicky Possible. I'm no expert. But I think, we can agree that the movies popularized the ideas. A quick websearch told me that organic webbing wasn't used in comics until "Dissasembled" wich is from 2004 (2 years after the movie did it) but, like I said, I have no detailed knowledge. Batman's cape was always prone to temporarely develop new properties. It's not called "crazy prepared" for nothing.

The cape-glider is almost wholly an invention of the Nolan films, isn't it? He used the cape to slow a descent once or twice in the animated series, but turning to a glide from full-on terminal velocity fall was beyond his basic gear.

He also can do it in Arkham Asylum/City and of course his Batman Beyond suit (which he did actually wear before he retired) can fly, but obviously this particular suit can't. Even if I were a huge Batman fan (and I am), I wouldn't call Batman better because I want to compare him to Superman. I think they're a perfectly matched team. Of course Superman could crush him like any other human and Batman is perfectly aware of that. And Supes knows that Bats knows that. But Superman can't think of things the way Batman does. He is a good guy with the powers of a god. Batman is a dark genius and a completely unique human.

In TDK, he uses kryptonite and an Apokaliptian battlesuit and the fight ends kind of abruptly, Like I said, Batman thinks in a way Superman is completely oblivious to (you don't need tactical thinking when you can just super-speed or freeze breath your opponents). This is why Batman can, if necessary, outsmart him. But Batman is still meat and bones like the rest of us, so he's under the same threat of being swatted like a fly.
