I've watched this many times, and I can't decide if it's fake or real. Either way Jason has a funny sense of humor including it on the DVD. If it is fake, than I must say Olivia Thirlby is a GREAT actress, she looks genuinely uncomfortable. I think that it may have been a prank on Ellen and Olivia by Jason and the crew though.

they could be giggling out of sheer nervousness. That's an awkward thing to witness. But the most likely explanation is that it's a prank of some kind, because the girls do look pissed, but I can't imagine an actor risking his career by behaving like that much of a diva on set. Plus, they put it on the DVD, so there were obviously no hard feelings.

Wilson does have a rep for being a jerk though, so who knows.

This isn't fake, because he is NOT EXTENDING his arms. Remember in the film he holds the bag to his chest then slowly extends his arms. It got tense because many takes were done and Rainn Wilson's ego was hurt because he was impeding the progress of the shoot. It got tense alright
