These locks use a gated lever system which is just about impossible to pick by ordinary means. This is the kind of locking mechanism which I would had liked to see in S&G's latest blast-proof lock designs.
I own the Ingersoll 712 (closed shackle). The only problem is though that if you ever get a glimpse of the key or photocopy it, you can reproduce the cuts if you have the blank and some basic skills. The military wouldn't like that compromise. This method is not so easy to do with Medeco Biaxial though. I would go with the Abloy Protec, Fichet F3D or DOM Diamant design in the case of a military padlock cylinder. Of course these are not as easy to rekey as the Medeco Biaxial.

I've got one of these with a NATO stamp and serial on the back, so it's deffo HAD some military usage.
