She doesn't have the vocal range and the unique voice of Maria Callas but i stronly believe that she can sing high notes in a way that no other soprano can. When Anna sings high notes it not only her technique that enables her to do so but you hear that her voice is very rich like if she was an angel...

@unethicaldenier totally disagree, she is without any doubt the top sopranist world-wide. You can dislike such open air concerts - they are money makers for singers and make them skip opera appearences (Elina Garanca for example). And I am from Vienna, going to Opera couple of times in a month.

These people are all over Youtube and surface like rats out of a sewer. It is not that they live in the past, but they like to make snide remarks. You will not find any actual posters carrying out this obnoxious practice. I am very familiar with various sopranos singing this aria, from Jarmila Novotna, the first Giuditta, onwards. Anna looks perfect for the part of the dancer and has a lovely free and easy top note, which cannot be said for some of the sopranos that sing it.

She is also an excellent actress. I've seen her in "Ruslan and Ludmilya"
and in "War and Peace"--she was fantastic. A few years ago I saw her in "Don Pasquale" but it was not for her. This season at the Met saw her in HD in "Hoffmann" and she was the
best actor in the opera, as well as singing beautifully.

Are these people who post negative comments for Netrebko retarded? No, they are not retarded! They are underachievers, who cannot deal with envy. Anna is an amazing soprano and a gorgeous woman! She is still young and gets better in her acting, singing and everything! Anna was named operas leading lady (that is number 1) in a March 27th of 2009 story in the Times (UK) titled The 20 Best Classical Divas.

She isn't suited for all material. But she is perfect on some material. This particular aria is a case in point.

Her dark, velvety voice, her flamboyant, theatrical manner, make her perfect for this role, and similar roles, such as Carmen.
Netrebko is not playing Giudetta. Netrebko IS Giudetta.

These people are all over Youtube and surface like rats out of a sewer. It is not that they live in the past, but they like to make snide remarks. You will not find any actual posters carrying out this obnoxious practice. I am very familiar with various sopranos singing this aria, from Jarmila Novotna, the first Giuditta, onwards. Anna looks perfect for the part of the dancer and has a lovely free and easy top note, which cannot be said for some of the sopranos that sing it.

Absolutely! She has no technical problems whatsoever with her top note. It sounds effortless, without any hint of strain.
Some detractors say that her fans give her too many bonus points merely for her looks.
But I listen to opera webcasts constantly. On more than one occasion I've asked myself "Whoa! Who's that? Really good technical command!"
When I checked, lo and behold it was Anna Netrebko, whom detractors characterize as technically deficient. .

by Lehar. She should, however, stick to lyric parts without much coloratura
ornamentation. Sadly, her singing of operas like "Lucia" or " I Puritani"
leaves much to be desired in the way of technique

I don't disagree with you. She is not good on everything. But even Callas and Tebaldi were not good on everything.
Being good, very good if truth be told, in a specific niche such as this, is to me enough of an achievement.
We need singers who can do material such as this justice, both technically, but even more importantly, emotionally.
Others singers may be technically "superior" but they may not shine on material such as this that calls for a certain personal flair.

She is also an excellent actress. I've seen her in "Ruslan and Ludmilya"
and in "War and Peace"--she was fantastic. A few years ago I saw her in "Don Pasquale" but it was not for her. This season at the Met saw her in HD in "Hoffmann" and she was the
best actor in the opera, as well as singing beautifully.

I could not agree more. People often forget that opera singers are not just singers of opera. They are also actors of opera.
Good actors can sometimes do very well in Broadway musicals by virtue of their acting rather than singing ability.
To a lesser extent this is true for opera singers as well.

What second and third rate commemts to go along with such a first rate performance by Anna Netrebko, one of the great divas of the 21st Century. This is a great positing and thank you for it. Lovers of German operetta need to listen to the posting of this and other operetta arias by Sona Ghazerian.
