One of my best guy friends from high school was on the Duke team, and I was the head cheerleader at UNC. It was pandemoniumso great to beat Duke in such an exciting game. You can't get any better than UNC tradition!

Tar Heel fans, this is funny. I'm a born & raised Chapel Hillian who's lived in SoCal for close to 20 years, UCLA hoops and it's fan base aren't even in the same league as UNC. UCLA weaknesses...Overall W/L, head to head W/L, attendance, tepid crowd, LA is for Lakers Always, no real rivalry, graduation rate, player alumni, overall contribution to the game, consistency & tradition. UCLA, don't debate a Tar Heel, your argument will end up like your experiences in late March..with disappointment.
UCLA's success, including the 88 game win streak is absolutely amazing. But it does nothing to diminish the joy I feel at watching this and being a Carolina fan since James Worthy was a freshman (and I was six). Wouldn't trade it for anything, but my fave was Lynch's steal to complete the 22-pt 2nd half comeback against Fla State. Thanks for making this beautiful video.
I've seen every game in this video. The most impressive by far was 8 pt deficit vs Dook with 17 seconds left and Sweet D banked in a 35 footer to tie and eventually win in OT. Years before the 3 pointer the most miraculous comeback in sports history. Someone let me know if I'm wrong......ok.
I agree! I was a freshman at UNC when this happened dating a guy from Dook (I know, a momentary lapse in judgment) and it was one of the best days ever! Also, when I took my daughter to an absolutely electric Dean Dome to see Marvin Williams beat Dook with that unbelievable shot! Still gives me chills! And who doesn't love Danny Green's shorts glued to Greg Paulus' forehead!
SoCalJ - let's talk modern era.....Wooden as impressive as he was, wouldn't have lasted very long with the NCAA as we know it today. He was a great, great coach, but he didn't play by the rules all the time. In those days UCLA only had to play teams in the tourney from the west until they got to the national championship. Again, he's a great coach, no doubt, but it's apples and oranges. Since 1980 when the shot clock and dunk were incorporated, we have 4 NC's......everyone else-catch up

"Whipping boys"?! Laughable. Back-and-forth rivalry?... Definitely... but Carolina is no one's whipping boys. You guys won the weakest national championship of a bunch of mediocre teams this year. Y'all are a public university, many times bigger than Duke, and we don't take illiterate players. We own the ACC tournament. Y'all can't ever seem to beat us there even in the years where you win it all. Weakest? We best WVU which beat UK and we beat Butler which beat Syr. Y'all couldn't even win the little NIT. Maybe some day you'll make the big boy tournament.

haha I remember when i was 14 watching the 05 title game when i was first getting into college basketball. My family is full of UK fans but I always liked UNCs high flyers and fast breaking teams now i watch every unc game i get in my area i like this video because it shows what UNC basketball is all about

Fantastic video!! Makes me nostalgic! I tear up when I watch it. I was at the March 2, 1974 game!! 8 points/17 seconds!! Best game in basketball history!! One of my best guy friends from high school was on the Duke team, and I was the head cheerleader at UNC. It was pandemoniumso great to beat Duke in such an exciting game. You can't get any better than UNC tradition!

@ZpddKng I mean, they did also win a championship in the 90's and go to successive final fours in the 2000's...even if they didnt, winning 10-11 championships buys you at LEAST a few bad decades, I would think. They'll be back in a year or so, just like UNC, Indiana, and Uconn will. Dont know about Arizona tho haha

Tar Heel fans, this is funny. I'm a born & raised Chapel Hillian who's lived in SoCal for close to 20 years, UCLA hoops and it's fan base aren't even in the same league as UNC. UCLA weaknesses...Overall W/L, head to head W/L, attendance, tepid crowd, LA is for Lakers Always, no real rivalry, graduation rate, player alumni, overall contribution to the game, consistency & tradition. UCLA, don't debate a Tar Heel, your argument will end up like your experiences in late March..with disappointment.

UCLA's success, including the 88 game win streak is absolutely amazing. But it does nothing to diminish the joy I feel at watching this and being a Carolina fan since James Worthy was a freshman (and I was six). Wouldn't trade it for anything, but my fave was Lynch's steal to complete the 22-pt 2nd half comeback against Fla State. Thanks for making this beautiful video.

I've seen every game in this video. The most impressive by far was 8 pt deficit vs Dook with 17 seconds left and Sweet D banked in a 35 footer to tie and eventually win in OT. Years before the 3 pointer the most miraculous comeback in sports history. Someone let me know if I'm wrong......ok.

I agree! I was a freshman at UNC when this happened dating a guy from Dook (I know, a momentary lapse in judgment) and it was one of the best days ever! Also, when I took my daughter to an absolutely electric Dean Dome to see Marvin Williams beat Dook with that unbelievable shot! Still gives me chills! And who doesn't love Danny Green's shorts glued to Greg Paulus' forehead!

SoCalJ - let's talk modern era.....Wooden as impressive as he was, wouldn't have lasted very long with the NCAA as we know it today. He was a great, great coach, but he didn't play by the rules all the time. In those days UCLA only had to play teams in the tourney from the west until they got to the national championship. Again, he's a great coach, no doubt, but it's apples and oranges. Since 1980 when the shot clock and dunk were incorporated, we have 4 NC's......everyone else-catch up
