Technically, Artie is in a mental institution where he belongs. As for writing, he was a performer and NEVER wrote anything and Fred has barely written anything since Jackie left. That no-talent Benjy is the primary writer for Howard and it shows, as Howard hasn't been that funny in 10 years. They haven't done bits since the 90s so there's very little writing on the show anyway. That embarrassing excuse for a song bit "Fuck room" was an example of what writing talent is left on the show - none.

Even when Benjy fails off-air, he's humorous... Obviously I cant say the same about Richard though. Quite dissapointing, because I always pictured him hitting homeruns with all the shit thats aired from RC's personal life....
