@itakeglue Dude the Snapper fishing size wise in Australia is far superior to NZ. I've fished both NZ and Oz extensively. Much bigger, size wise, snapper in Oz. I've caught over three dozen 30 pound snapper in Oz. Amazing fishing up north.

i caught my first snapper of the rocks , surfcasting , neveer was fishing before and had a 2.8kg snapper on the hook .but they are not fighters, compared to kahawhai or kingfish.

i am from australia and we only went fishing for snapper at point lowly on saturday the something of may 2009 we caught lots of snapper then a great white shark comes along it was 5 metre shark as big as the boat pretty much

2008 season now.Went out last night with a mate,Night before Grand Final 20 metre mark off.Not a single car and trailer to be seen at the ramp. So our expectations were not good.Got on the water at 8:45pm heaps of fish on the sounder at 11 metres. But we kept going to 20 metres. After a long wait 12:30am we took our first Red for the season that went 4kg/70cms.Sounder not showing as many as last year at this time.Water temp is still 1 degree cooler than this time last year.
