  • Good music but terrible video

  • ...Flashing...Hurricane...My eyes!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Miss Maddy I tell you what I am nervous about this season is the Carribean is just warming up dramatically since the 2008 season and I am afraid another Ivan or Wilma will come next year. These hurricanes seem to run in a cycle in certain areas of the Atlantic Basin. The Gulf this year has not had any major upwelling of water to cool it down 40-50 ft. I feel next year will be a doozy becasue La Nina is suppose to be waning as well. Guess we will have to see.

  • @Chairbrowser60 exactly.

  • What the name of this song please tell me?

  • What the name of this song ?

  • Damn I love this music

  • Wow I remember this. I would turn The Weather Channel on just the hear the "On the 8's" music xD

  • Yesterday was hurricane irene

  • Where did this music stop for the hurricanes this year?

  • I'm pissed at TWC right now for not using the song this time!

  • @Headcheezonium me too

  • frenxmf

you should get to know me. i'm wayy more funnier in person.

  • @MissMaddy881 "way more funnier"??? I thought you said you're in college... or is that just how people talk in your trailer park?

  • @FatherPatOphelia i'm in college, but i don't live in a trailer park.

  • they are not using it yet

  • I hope this is used for Irene when it smashes my house in MA!!!

  • @physicalgrafiti12345 i'm sorry it's going to hit you.

  • @MissMaddy881 well thank you but dont worry, im so excited for this storm.

  • Looks like they're going to have to bring this back for Irene

  • @dpinzow Exactly what I was thinking. This music and that much more dramatic fast paced local forecast music they would play interspersed with this one.

  • I love this song so much! It's my alarm clock music! :D

  • firealarm211: *facepalm*

MissMaddy881: what'd you do that for?

LMFAO sorry I just found that priceless XxD

  • everytime i hear this song it's like i'm all psyched up to film a hurricane. too bad that i live in new york city lol

  • @reggaetonqueen380 yea I live in NJ and I feel the same way. Hope we get one eventually!

  • i haven't heard this song on the local forecast in such a long time

we need another hurricane! lol i'm sorry

  • @wow1022

use real player gold to download the video, then download winff to change it from flv to mp3

  • Somebody needs to post a download link!!!!!

  • What is the name of this song? I want a copy of this.

  • Hurricane Katrina made this song famous. Never forget the day before the storm watching it ramp up to 160MPH and then hearing THIS music! Amazing storm!

  • btw..does anyone else notlce that louisiana's coastline changes colors in the beginning?

  • @MissMaddy881 *facepalm*

  • @firealarm211 what'd you do that for?

  • @MissMaddy881 He made it do that on purpose. It's a WMM effect.

  • @firealarm211 oh ok. it's cool.

  • this year, we're going to have the '05 hurricane names and august 29 will be on a monday..creepy!

  • When my adrenaline is up by 200%, this song plays in my head!

  • anyone else nervous about this year's hurricane season?

  • @MissMaddy881 Oh yes....I live RIGHT on the water too (on the gulf coast). I'm a bit nervous ^_^'....Only 2nd summer living here soooo...EEK!!!!

  • @StarWarsGirl7 i'm from new orleans, so we'll both have to watch TWC every day during hurricane season.

  • @MissMaddy881 I do anyway, so I think I'm good LOL. Still, it scares me to think that another storm like Katrina could come (shudder shudder).

  • @StarWarsGirl7 i know, right? i hope another katrina doesn't come. we were lucky it was a cat 3 at landfall instead of the cat 5 it was the day before.

  • nine people would rather attempt to ride out a major hurricane than evacuate.

  • @MissMaddy881 Riding out a major hurricane is a rush.

  • @Rygith maybe for you, but it would just be scary for me.

  • RIP The Weather Channel 1982-2007

  • @WhelenVTXR2 Agreed. The new weather channel sucks.A matter of fact I can't even call it the weather channel anymore. It's like regular news station now.

  • @MsBest450 i like it. i just don't like the show weather proof.

  • @WhelenVTXR2 it didn't die. i've always liked watching it.

  • shut up shut up I love this song!!!

  • I always loved hearing this theme song every time there was a hurricane near by and always used to hum to the song and was always looking for the music song until now! I also did the voice notes recording feature on my Blackberry so I can always here it where ever I am! Thanks for posting it!

  • EPIC song for an EPIC hurricane year

  • They play this during the local forecasts when a hurricane is close to the U.S., if earl gets close you'll probably hear this, it's a great piece of music.

  • @willsco76 yeah, that's what i thought this morning when i watched TWC. i always do that before i go to class on mondays, wednesdays, and fridays. i didn't go today, though.

  • anybody know anything about the disturbance off of the coast of africa?

  • @MissMaddy881 TD-6. forecast to be a Tropical Storm and then a Hurricane later this week.

  • nickthestick26

ya, same here. i was 15 then. now, i'm 20 and in the middle of a book about katrina.

  • Even though they have played this during Storm Alert local forecasts during other storms (notably Gustav and Ike), I will always remembr this one as Katrina's theme. It's embedded in my mind forever, along with the sick feeling I had watching this monster barrel toward the Gulf coast that Sunday, as well as watching the recovery efforts those first few days afterward. It was all set to this LF tune.

  • I was kinda enjoying the music in a weird way lol

  • anyone know what happened to colin?

  • anyone know what happened to colin?

  • @MissMaddy881 He died.

  • As a louisiana resident i still remember hearing this music on twc when katrina hit. I was 14 at the time. Cant believe its been 5 years

  • @STOPobama1 i was 15. i'm from new orleans. where are you from?

  • HEY CAN YOU TELL ME WHATS THE NAME OF THIS MUSIC PLEASE.

    THANKS

  • @Elmis00 "Eye of the Storm" by Stephen Arnold Music. Look at the 2nd uploader comment

  • det1271t, i feel the same way about katrina.

  • hey guys, bonnie might be forming soon.

  • @MissMaddy881 Last time I heard it, it was Tropical Depression Bonnie. Could be TS Bonnie again though they say.

  • is that gustav or katrina?

  • @thenatester45 it's katrina, i'd recognize that storm anywhere.

  • Also, the hurricane has to be at least a cat 3 or higher (at any time) and make a direct impact on the US coast for TWC to go into Storm Alert. This is why the song wasn't played during Hurricane Dolly in 2008, and why it won't be played during Hurricane Alex.

  • @mblack713 Also because Alex only made it to 2. Pretty good records though for a June storm..

  • actually it is only used when the weather channel goes into "storm alert"

  • Hurricane Season is on us again and they're predicting an active year, so this music might become more frequent if any storm threatens land.

  • i once thaUGHT a hurricane was coming but it was a light t-storm...woops

  • the effects are what make this - the flash and zoom of the static hurricane - for some reason i find that strangely hilarious

  • It's always funny to know some of the best music you might ever hear on TV is on the Weather Channel.

  • do you know the name of the song??????

  • eye of the storm.

  • eye of the storm - stephen arnold

  • Well, we haven't heard this song on TWC yet this year, it's been such a quiet Hurricane season thus far. Hopefully we'll continue this way.

  • i am kinda wishing SOMETHING would happen....But its also a good thing because NOT yet i have to experince Hanna AND Fay

  • Last I saw TWC earlier today, Tropical Storm Ida was in the Caribbean and possibly could head into the Gulf of Mexico in a few days. The quiet Hurricane season has taken an unexpected turn as Ida became a named storm earlier this week.

  • Dac719, Wow, just when it seemed Hurricane season was over, sure enough there's Ida. I just hope nothing bad comes of this. But I guess we never know, especially when a tropical system gets into the Gulf of Mexico. Hopefully the water isn't warm enough at this point to provide the needed "fuel" to make her stronger. Let's keep our fingers crossed. :)

  • @MoosicandCritters and live in auburn AL. and ida dumped 7 inches of rain on us

  • You are so lucky NEW ORLEANS. The reason why that hurricane weaken before it hit land. The coastal waters were cool and that can tear a hurricane apart even without shear

  • It almost sounded like Journey - Separate Ways for a little while

  • This song is wicked...do you have the other storm alert song as well?

  • Not to be rude, but try the 2008 version.

    Otherwise, THIS IS AWESOME!!!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!! thanks for uploading!

  • I love this song, too!

  • welcome to the world of mother nature NOT GOD

  • god created mother nature DUH!!!!!!

  • Agreed!

  • awesome song.... It's always eerie to hear the song while watching the on the 8's with a hurricane coming in because you see the effective area's forecast for rain and "windy" as if it was just any other day

  • do you have the old music they played before the local forecasts in the early 90s? You can also find that music at the beginning of the video when hurricane andrew is making landfall. (it's about half cut-off). I'm trying to find the song. Thanks! I love this song- it's almost frightening.

  • @chrisz71 The song that played during Andrew's approach was called "Ballet" By David Arkenstone. An unbelievable and hair raising tune that I can remember as it was yesterday. I was living in Homestead at the time of Andrews landfall. Just talking about it and hearing the song makes my hair stand up and gives me goose bumps!

  • I thought that Katrina was bad, but Camille was a lot worse because it made landfall as a Category 5 near the same location!!! O_O

  • Awesome song, when you listen to it and see a forecast for strong hurricane conditions, it gives you that feeling that a storm is about to strike

  • fucking epic

  • Song is cool

  • The music was composed by

    Stephen Arnold.

  • My local news station used this for a promo.

  • They only do this usic for major hurricanes. It was only used for Katrina, Rita, Wilma, Gustav, and Ike. The last two had this music due to a high surge due to a moderate or huge wind field. It's probably going to be used for the Gulf coast this year.

  • thanks.....wish i could have said goodbye.

  • So Sorry, but you couldn't have known that was gonna happen

  • Ahhhh, Ike......... Love this song! My aunt died in Katrina........This reminds me of her.

  • does anybody know were i can get it from

  • Local forecasts on TWC changed forever when this song hit the air for Katrina. It sure scared me alright when I first heard it, but that's exactly what this song is supposed to do!

  • I love this song, it is so powerful and it definitely fits well with a Hurricane. Very nice video!

  • Phenomenal satellite photos there... That is intimidating.

  • I wish they would do this during Super Tornado Outbreaks too, but it would probably freak out a lot of people.

  • That's not a bad idea, tribefan85. It may help get our attention a little more. Seems like sometimes people get a little complacent (myself included) during severe weather outbreaks. Yesterday our tornado sirens sounded off twice, we had 2 severe thunderstorm warnings with a tornado watch and I gotta admit, I didn't take shelter. I watched the storm from my front door. lol!

  • I like that idea tribefan85! You know when you hear this song that BAD things are about to happen somewhere!

They could have it programmed to go on if a very large number of tornado warnings are in effect at one time around the country.

  • Stupid benecots. Why on earth did ya watch it for? Go somewhere else and spew. Stay away from us Weather Channel fans who just like to enjoy You Tube peacefully! If your shorts are in a wad, there are plenty of other videos for you to go to and whine. Buzz off NOOB!!!

  • Well said!, Thank You.

  • My pleasure!

    ;)

  • Is that image of Katrina? Seem to remember that's the first time I heard this song. Do like it, though: gets your attention.

    *StormSpinner1* in Texas

  • I like how you can see the state of Lousiana and a little bit of the Florida panhandle up at the top of the screen. Look at that eye! Wow! Like the hurricane is looking for a place to make landfall. I would love to fly into a hurricane with the hurricane hunters from the NWS. (yeah, I know, I'm nuts. lol)

  • While reading the book "Isaac's Storm" which is an account of the Great Galveston Hurricane of 1900 based on journals obtained from survivors of that storm I learned that the Cubans referred to the center of a hurricane as the "eye". It's interesting that they knew this is what it looked like from above especially since there was no sattelite imagery back then. The U.S. Weather Bureau, as it was called at that time, did not like referring to the center as an eye but eventually they relented.

  • garryinnola,

That's interesting, I never knew that. Thanks.

    :)

  • Yes, it's a visible satellite image of Katrina when she was still a category 5. You can see right down through the eye to the surface of the Gulf Of Mexico.

  • That is Katrina.

  • The first time I heard this song was the day before Katrina made landfall. Since then I've been trying to find this song on the internet for years till today. How did you find this song?

  • jtgaslin61

If you also like some of the other Weather Channel music, there are alot of cool channels on here that have just about every song you could want. Check out my channel, I have subscribed to lots of them. :)

  • 12,638 views! That is great! I see alot of people must also love this song!

  • 638 of those views are probably mine. lol! And thanks for the nice PM.

  • they play this when the weather channel is in storm alert.

  • @HurricaneFreak30336 USED to. this was the '05 theme and maybe others close to tht but now they have newer ones for storm alert. they even better.

  • Does Stephen Arnold have any other songs that are used on TWC? This guy could make some big bucks if he would sell his CD's. I'd be willing to pay a plenty, even for just this song by itself!

  • This is one fantastic Hurricane Song! So much power and emotion. Is it just me, or does it make anybody else get a little teary eyed too??

  • Reply to TWCmusicweatherfan61,

Yes, it makes me get teary eyed too. I thought I was the only person who felt this way. I cried through Rita, Gustav, Ike, Hanna............ This is definitely an awesome and powerful song and I love it! Thank you Vlad788 for posting. I love what you have done with the picture.

  • It's called Eye of the Storm by Stephen Arnold Music. You cannot get it unless you are a media outlet, unfortunately. I've been trying all over the net to get it, but can't find it anywhere, so I just listen to it on the Stephen Arnold website.

  • It sounds just as clear online anyway...

  • @texstar25 I have this song. And, while technically I am a media outlet NOW, I wasn't when I got this. I can post it if you want.

  • WER CAN I GET THIS SONG?

  • hey how can you record stuff from the national feed?

  • They played this during local forecasts for hurricane Ike but not for Gustav, maybe they knew this was a big storm like Rita and katrina, wilma in 2005, they played it here in Hawaii, amazing for Ike!

  • they did play it for Gustav.

  • You're right. They did play it for Gustav several times. There are several posts on here proving that.

  • and for Ike.

  • And for Katrina in 2005.

  • Oh man, i never heard the original except I started watching the weather channel in like 2003.

  • They played the remix version too.

  • yeah

  • Lol, it's been playing all day!

  • I heard this early this morning! Truly amazing! I wonder who composed it...

  • I have been watching the Weather Channel all morning on Ike. This music is really good and really gets in your head. I love the storms that bring the music but not what the storm is doing to all those people out there.

  • ahhh, **** IKe with its torandoes heading our way.

  • how did i know, we got in a torando warning, and this was before

  • Ike is Cat 2 and they are playing it.

  • very annoying video...like the song, but the video is extremely annoying with the constant flashing!

  • I love this song, and yes it's nerve racking when you're actually waiting on a hurricane to hit your area. been through it a few times.

Stay safe anyone in the path of this storm.

  • nvm just heard it with Hurricane Ike Cat. 2.

  • um how?

  • May I ask which hurricane is in the picture in this video?

  • Katrina

  • HUGE HURRICANR

  • This song sounds like it was composed by Jean Michael Jarre, that's what has my curiosity.

  • This played all day today because of Gustav.

  • Yeah up here for conroe they play this song for the forecast

  • I remember having this song drilled into my head when I stayed through Katrina (not in New Orleans though) before the power went out.

It's like you already felt like the apocalypse was coming...this epic music just further reinforced it.

  • I think that this version is the best one. the one now is allright but its no where near as good

  • its only used when its a major hurricane that has the potential to hit the us within 24 hours not every hurrican. they used it for gustav because it was a cat 3 when they issued the hurricane warning

but yea im glad i wasnt the only one who thought this song was amazing. but i dont like what it means for the us =/

  • The storm alert local forecast music today is the same as the Ernesto storm alert local forecast music in 2006.

  • I just heard this song on my local on the 8s here in West Virginia and we have the older version of the software...

  • They've been playing it all day today they usually play two of them and this is one of them that they've been playing usually in the 28 or 58 past every hour. They play the full thing too it doesn't cut off so its really nice that they've brought it back.

  • they did except its storm alert from late season '05 and 2006. the promo when they open on the actual program... it's epic!!!

  • Apparently, TWC Doesnt do storm alert anymore. They would be playing that music by now with Gustav, and they would have done it for Dolly.

    Im very dissapointed.

  • They've been playing it many times already today during the local forecast. It's actually an updated version of this song and sounds a lot better.

  • They did play it for gustav i have been hearing it all day in texas.

  • Does anyone know if they have played this in New Orleans, now that a hurricane watch has been issued?

  • I wish they'd do it for Gustav (Excuse my spelling) It may become a catogory 5. Good thing I live in GA

  • That music makes the hair on my arm stand up. It's the "lookout...somebody's about to get blasted" music. Very cool.

  • I love this song so much, that I wished The Weather Channel had capabilities to make local storm alerts for severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings with this song playing (though that's probably not possible with the Intellistar considering it's nationwide).

Storm alert's my text message alert song on my phone no less haha
