@danlkadf I don't think it's worth apologizing to anyone that can't appreciate someone trying something a little different. I say give it your own twist. The Beatles wouldn't have made such an impact sounding the way they were expected to. And I totally understand how you feel, because i get a lot of crap for how I sing and play too, even from my own band. Btw, you did a kick ass cover

Dude, it wasn't bad but I have to say that I completely disagree with your opinion of Toby Rands version with Gilby Clarke. Personally I thought they did an amazing job with it and prefer it more than your cover, but I did still think you did a good job! Nice playing,

just to clarify .....i love Toby Rand's version of Solsbury Hill...but if you watch Gilby, he's taking the easy way out by playing the single note melody line to the actual guitar riff....which is ok but the hype came on stage with prior to the song, you'd think he would have actually learned the part...thats all i'm saying

A lot of people do covers of songs but they don't tend to add their own touch to it which is what a cover should really be about.
