I use Gaia though ... does it work like this?: If I get a message like that from someone on Gaia in private messages/comments and I click the link, will I get infected? (I know it sounds stupid but the problem is that I'm worried if my friend(s) get it, it may automatically attack my computer without getting a message..)
@BerryShirayukii Yes......you are right, the Koobface Worm looks for cookies to those certain sites and uses that information to spread it to your friends.
Lol thats what they need to do, they get hit with so much stuff. I heard on the news that someone went on someone elses account and acted as them and sent a message to there friend saying they were stuck somewhere and needed money and they sent money to the person who was on there account wired it to them
Yes, once installed with this Koobface Worm the person which made this nasty worm can have control over your computer. They can keylog, run any command do anything to your computer. That is why you need to let everyone know about this worm.
It would be useless, once someone has went to the fake youtube page and installed the so called latest Adobe Flash player(which is really the koobface worm) it goes through that infected computer and looks for the cookies for any social networking site then sends a message and a link to that same page to that persons friends on that account, thats why it is a good idea to tell anyone who uses these social networking sites
ya your right it would be useless, well it was on channel 2 the other day so i would guess people would know now. But i still think facebook should shutdown the main account if he tries to send the again it might slow at least
True but if the friend of that person takes the bait like a hungrey catfish that account it was sent on isn't going to be sending anymore it will move to the next account it finds by using the cookies it finds
Yes, if you use Facebook or any other social networking site it is always a good idea to delete those cookies so just incase something does get on your computer and scan through your cookies you have no cookies showing you were logged in to any social networking site
