@Topguner97 Rush really didn't go their separate ways. Neil's daughter died in a car accident and his wife died of cancer like a week later, so he blew off the steam by riding around the country on his motorcycle. Everyone just thought they broke up because there was no real news on what happened. So basically, they didn't want to stop after Test for Echo, it just happened because of Neil. What I want to know is what kind of album they would've put out if Neil's tragedy didn't happen...
*Sigh* I know you all are out there, but I never went to the right parties I guess, and I'm twice your age. I've found more women your age that are Rush fans than my generation as it turns out now!! Could be my locale, too...Geddy (how he spells his name) is funny looking, but that's how he gets his vocal tone, which I've always liked. Rush were also heavily criticized (in the early days especially) for his vocals, but I love what he did then and what he's been doing since the early 80's.
How come I can never find a chick who's a Rush fan? That would be really cool.....oh yeah, I forgot, this is Brazil and chicks are cool down there. I live in the PacNW & chicks are bitchy and self centered here....
I'm a 23 year old American female and I love Rush for LIFE! Great guitar, awesome vocals/bass, INCREDIBLE drummer. Loved them since I was a little girl. Ghetty Lee sure is funny lookin', but he's got an angel's voice.
@MystikSakura I worry about the 20 something crowd I do, however, at least you noticed? May I ask what you heard as a little girl? Little girl was not that many years ago? BTW, Geddy is the crown prince of bass and yes I am aware of comments regarding how these 3 guys make such wonderful music.
I was brought up under a variety of different genres. To this day I still enjoy most of them. They include (but are not limited to) The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, Bryan Adams, Journey... etc etc. I mean, I like a lot of recent music too, but the classics will always have a place in my heart. =) My favorite bands are from the 60's 70's, 80's and 90's. After that, music just started getting redundant, but occasionally I find a new band that is surprisingly, pleasantly original.
@rikkster100 Because, like the Academy Awards, artists are never picked for the best material (like film -- an actor/actress never seem to win the Oscar for their best work either) and it's all political. Rush should have been inducted into the R&R Hall Of Fame years ago, especially considering all the acts that HAVE been inducted have in some way or another been influenced by Rush. It's a travesty....
RUSH, the only band that I know of that would sell out 4 shows in the same week in Chicago back in early 80's. I should know, I went to all of them, even one time my buddy forgot his ticket and his dad would not drive him back, I went in alone and made new friends! Awesome back in the day and still awesome.
Of course, the only zoom in on the crowd during this entire video was on the chick showing the cleavage. Of course I'm not complaining a damn bit, just thought I'd point that out.
many great artists begin with a full bottle of rock sauce and just keep pouring it out and eventually they run out of rock sauce and retire but rush was given a big bottle of rock sauce and for years have been shaking that rock sauce and after fourty years that rock sauce is still flowing out of that one bottle thats what makes rush legendery.
I hate seeing Rush videos... I have to work and I just CANT stop watching and gettin goose bumps.. Rush son indescriptible , absurda y ridiculamente demasiado buenos , su musica atraviesa mi alma.
QUITE right!~ Neil Pert!! Is the another drummer??? No lyrics needed.. does anyone need them? They're ingrained in ANY rocker.. true rocker, not thrasher..
great instrumental Rush song. So much talent here. But for those who have not heard it, go check La Villa Strangiato. It is truly one of the most difficult and one of the best rock songs ever written.
@pnthr9089 It is. In the documentary, i recall someone saying that if you can play Hemispheres era Rush with proficiency, you can play just about anything.
I'm doing this song at our school's Battle of the Bands next year.. It's ridiculous. I've been playing bass for six months and am trying to beat this together. Wish me luck?
DAMN HOT. seen these guyz so many times and not once..not ever hav i geard rthem screw up..theyre so damn tight..MANY YEARS of playin. TOTALLY DEDICATED.. and uh..Neil Peart??? wtf. enough said is right..unbelievable and so so creative
I've seen this a few times now and it never gets old. That crowd - you can see the band feeding off their energy and collective joy. Rush continue to draw crowds for a simple reason: they make people happy.
Rockin'---This was their favorite concert to play, thought the hardest to get set up (power issues-voltage and corruption wise, etc).Could you imagine seeing 100000 jamming to your music -I can;t believethat snob outfit The RNR HOF hasn't voted them in yet.Maybe they haven't had the OD or the breakup or one stealing anothers' woman.Once that happens ,they'll be a lock!!
I've had the honor of having a seat at many a Rush concert over the years, but I would gladly trade them all in to have been in the crowd at that show in Rio. Every time I watch this DVD I'm amazed how great they are after all these years.
Neil Pert I think is overrated...in my opinion Mark Nauseef, Carl Palmer, Jhon Hiseman, Bobby Caldwell, Borromie Barlow, Ian Paice, Billy Cobham are the best and better than him.
i loooooove dream theater... and i always knew that they where rush fans son im starting to hear some...this is the first song...pretty cool :) can anyone recomend me an album?
