  • I live in N. Carolina and registration is $20 per year. I just bought a car last year and am still paying for it. For this reason I am required to carry insurance that would cover repairs to my own car as well as any cars I might damage in an accident. I also have a speeding citation that makes my insurance cost a little higher. Right now I pay about $1000 per year for insurance. In December the speeding citation comes off my record and my insurance will go down and again when I pay off my car.

  • My compulsory third party is $517 (I'm under 25) Rego is free because I have a single parent pension card. BUT Because I'm in NSW I have to get an inspection done before I can get renew my rego. Last year that ended up costing me $800 just to get my car fixed ready for rego. Pretty sure you guys in QLD don't have to get an inspection done right?

  • In Texas to drive a 2009 Jeep Wrangler I pay $65.00 a year for registration. Full coverage insurance is $540.00 a year. $40.00 for inspection. Grand total $645.00. (You have to consider I'm 44 with a decent driving record)

  • US-MS 26.00US registration, 5.00US inspection sticker one year. Mandatory liability insurance 360.00US for one year. This is for a late nineties minivan. Gas taxes and other road taxes, who they hell knows? Driving is an expensive proposition, not including the price of the car. Good to know some others have it worse than me. REVOLUTION!! :)

  • To all you foriegn people this is proof that Australians dont ride Kangaroos every where.................i wish we did cause it wouldnt be so expensive

  • From usa... Michigan actually.

i think 5yr license renewal (just to have a valid license) is $75 CDN (71 USD)

  • Well for my car Registration... I pay $60. I pay about $430 a year for Liability... granted I drive a 96 Camry :D So I really don't care about replacing the vehicle.

    I live in Texas.

  • Norway: 2007 Audi A4 1,8 liter estate. around 3000/3.500 us$ a year for full insurance. it depends on how old the car is, wreckage and theft statistics.. that sort of thing. but norweigans usually aford this. seems like a robbery when compared to other countries.

  • @tryne83 it sure does!

  • I cant drive cause im fifteen so nothing hahah!! :P

  • maybe we should all start riding goats around

  • @Frenzal88 new zealanders already do ;)

  • @MrStripyHead they ride sheep silly

  • To be truthful, it costs so much I sold my F-150 and surrendered my license. Here in America we imagine we have many rights, but when it comes to driving they tell you straight up - oh no, that's a privilege the asses in the statehouse grant you. Yeah right, so they can squeeze you to death.

  • Shoot the fuking dogggggg

  • @rickrocket2010 Hey Mr Stipy head welcome to New South Wales buddy...

  • In california, for a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado with a 5 cyl, we paid 170 US. Your registration price is FACKING INSANE! That includes insurance though? We pay 140 us every two months for comprehensive and collision insurance on it too. You're getting straight boned my aussie friend.

  • Young drivers can pay maybe £2000 for insurance or more, if a boy racer. The older you are with more experience it drops, if you use car for work it raises price etc. Do you have tax and M.O.T (cars over 3 yrs old), and petrol is about £6 upwards a gallon just now so it's fun to drive and swell government coffers.

  • In UK you can buy 3rd party, fire and theft only or fully comprehensive, but we dont have registration fee or traffic improvement. We have car tax at various amounts, over zealous traffic wardens for penalties and pot holes everywhere. Insurance goes up to band 20 (high value/ power etc)

  • $56.00 for registration per year $10.00 for a year sticker Nofault insurance $531 for 6 months. so grand total because one is only insured half a year $989.1992 1968 and 1966

  • Cost the same here.. every year yoiu pay tax as pr weigth of your car or motorcycle.

Mine is a round 100 au dollars for my bike.

  • my 2002 4runner V6 is around $100, of course that's only registration, it's been a while since i ONLY paid for base level car insurance, seems like it was about $25 a month.

  • I only pay about $50 a month for full coverage because I've been with the same company for so long and I don't have any wrecks or tickets.

I also just got my registration and it's $24 a year here in Tennessee.

  • HOLY FUCKING JEBUS!!

$655... that's in-fucking-sane!! sorry bout your luck man...

i live in minnesota. it's about $100 for me. i thought $100 was too much. i feel a little better about it now...lol thanks! ;-)

  • I pay 113$ a month for full coverage car insurance at statefarm. I pay about 90$ a year to replace tags.

  • Comment removed

  • i think its like $25 USD per year here in maine but thats all i know

  • 9¢ only

  • For me, It was 512$ to register my 2007 VW Rabbit.

  • @1tofallen it was 110$ in Hawaii.

  • On a side note: that damned little intro bit you have must the worlds most viral ear worm ever sang. I'll be singing that for the next few hours, thanks stripy.

  • We have two cars. We pay about $600 annually in personal property taxes to the county. Then we have to have insurance so that runs me $145 a month or $1740 annually. That is for full coverage and for uninsured. I could save a little by lessening the coverage amounts. Also, my F150 and her SUV are rather high on the scale as far as costs go.

  • Here in Ohio, our registration fees have gone up from about $50 to about $80. Fucking bullshit. And I pay about $500 a year for insurance ("incaseshit")

  • i paid $297 for this year's registration.

  • @tamtampamela l wanna live in Los Angeles :)

  • @MrStripyHead not the one in Los Angeles!

  • Insurance for an old car here (from the early 70's) registration costs about $85 and the annual cost for insurance for a good driver (no tickets or accidents that were the responsibility of the insured) if the same car is about $300 and this is age dependent. Younger people pay much more due to risk.

I a car that is 10 years old insurance is more like $500 a year and registration is $120.

It is way more for a new vehicle.

Registration is separate from registration in the U.S.

  • Insurance 53,3 US Dollars every year!

  • I'm in Scotland, which is Britain(all pay the same)..we pay about £500 or there about's for insurance, and about £124 I think for road tax. Car drink petrol thou, it loves me to be broke,lol.....

  • In Missouri, it depends on your taxable horsepower. It's anywhere from $18-$100. And it also makes a difference if you go for the 1-year or 2-year plates/tags.

As for insurance, I was able to find really cheap insurance for which I paid the full amount ($207) to cover it for six-months.

Paying $600 would just make me vomit. Yikes!

  • Costs me $1500 per anum 'tax' payable to my govt, for a permission slip to drive my car on fucked up roads.. if I dont pay it, they impound my car, crush it, charge me for same, & then bring me to court to put a strike on my licence, & the fine would be about $200-500.

  • I live in Switzerland so do not need a car with perfect public transport! Costs me 600 francs a year and I can get anywhere in the city! Yee haa

  • i pay $36 in philly for registration but my insurance is about $1000 a year which includes comprehensive collision coverage.

  • Holy shit man, I pay $45 a year for the car, and $90 a month for full coverage insurance! Yer getting screwed!

  • here in oz mate we get it good compared to other countries, especially in QLD!!!!

  • same as you grego!

  • In Tampa Fl 76 US Dollars registration. Insurance 100 US Dollars monthly.

  • Sounds like some of you are getting totally dicked...In germany...Bayern, we pay about 500 euros for full coverage per year and as for a registration fee...isn't that what is done when you 'first' register it....and then never again...and if I remember right it about 60 euros with plates and stickers and paperpusher fees.

  • My car registration and tax is $81 USD per year. Of course, it's pretty much a piece of shit.

  • .....having said that, it doesn't include insurance of any kind. That's extra. I pay roughly $400. per year for liability only insurance.

  • I pay Can$1150 (US$1150) annually for a 93 Buick in British Columbia and that includes a 40% safe driver discount. I WISH my insurance/registration was as inexpensive as yours!

  • $0 US. I ride a bicycle and take public transport, at least for now. Will get a car eventually though.

  • Car insurance??? Never even heard of it... = 0 USD per year ; )

ins 1200.00 for 1 year min coverage of a 2000 Hyundai Tibby

  • None, and it slurps 1 liter on 22 miles. :-)

  • mine is over $800 FOR A YEAR mate. i have a 2006 BF Falcon wagon.

  • in england for a dude my age (17) costs on average 2500 gbp for annual insurance, thats roughly 3600usd...

  • I just renewed mine for the year.

$185 for Emissions, Inspection, and Taxes.

    $400 for Insurance

    1999 Ford Ranger 2WD pickup.

  • 2005 Pontiac Vibe = $165 reg.

    2006 Scion XB = $185 reg.

Annual insurance for both = $2,990

    Total = $3,340

This is for Los Angeles, and for 2 drivers with excellent driving records.

  • Here it's $50 fee to register... the insurance, Depending on your driving record, for the minimum it starts at about $300 and goes up relative to your driver step points.

  • £00.00 Thanks for reminding me how much I fail at owning a car. =_=

  • Well I'm from the U.K. and I pay about $1000 per year for insurance and a further $350 for road tax (which I don't think you have there?) so it sounds like a bargain to me! I love hearing people from other countries complain about how much they have to pay lol. If you really want to be ripped off then come to Britain!!!!

  • 950 a year for insurance, 55 for excise tax (traffic improvement) a year, and registration fee is 70 for two years. 1040 a year i guess?

  • I'm in Ohio and my registration is less than $75.00. Registration depends on the class of vehicle. (I know in KY they pay registration based upon the car's value; a tax, of sorts)... I pay insurance based upon a yearly thingy which works out to being ~$400/year, BUT that's just liability insurance against property damage and medical expenses (state required minimum). I drive a 2001 Chevy VentureVan; I know...loser-cruiser, but it's paid for and works for now ;)

  • ooh with freaking insurance umm, well insurance and retagging for the z28 was like $40 for the tag and insurance was like $250 every 6 months, retagging the truck is $90 and insurance is about $300 every 6 months. fucking money grubbing fuckers.

  • for my 86 camaro z28 in 2005 it was like $40 for my brother's 2003 chevy silverado this year was like $90 or so...

  • In SA we can pay either 3, 6, 9 or 12 monthly. So for my V6 commodore i pay $190 for 3 months but its cheaper if you pay yearly.

  • Yea, they dick us in Canada like that too, was 500 last time I had to register my little SUV, and that was years ago (it's rusting in my yard atm...)
