My 2000 Saturn SL1 does 104 before it just about explodes (lol), so unless your R/T is loaded up you should be able to do much faster than me. i think also that the Avengers are more geared for acceleration and torque rather than top speed. besides, feeling the G forces are more fun in my opinion ;D
@foxxbabyy ahh, there's our difference. my top run was with just me (lightweight, 110lbs) and the SL1's weight is 2300 i think. I was half tank and no passengers, so right there the weight savings would give a boost. try doing your top run with a lighter load. Less fuel (half to quarter tank), no passengers, no unnecessary equipment (leave your school books at home), clean the interior of trash/bottles/anything else since lots of little things add up to decent weight. Also, A/C OFF, robs hp.
These cars fuckn suck I had a r/t and I thought they were fast, and they would go fast for seriously 2-3 secondsfrom a stop but after that they are slow as hell, I traded mine in for a suv 07 mitsu outlander ralliart v6 mivec,and it's the fastest suv I've ever owned. It's not faster than a bmw or a nice acura but it's nothing for it to hit 125 mph in no time, the dealer said it's a EVO in a suv form, anyways if you want fast don't get a avenger, get a srt, their way faster for the money.

Chrysler is nearly incapable of producing a vehicle on their own. For the past 20 years they have been using Mitsubishi and Mercedes platforms and components.
dodge avengers are the shittiest mid-size cars on the market...period. everyone knows it, because the only people that buy them are rental companies.
If they are as bad as a car u say the rental company would not want them they would have lots of unhappy customers.
There is a dude next door to me that has one. He has had it for a few years now and loves it. I see them all the time and I highley doubt they are ALL rentals. Lets be real here rental companies buy the base model cars the ones I see are not the base. You can tell when its not a rental. They have some bumper stickers on or custom rims, sound systems and sometimes nothing.

Yeah well I will take my chances with the dodge. They have a 100,000 mile warranty that they come with anyway. I like chevy but just don't like the style of there cars right now. Chevey's number of sales and not much higher then Dodge. Everyone I know that has a Dodge has not had any problems with them. Now the dude I know that owns a ford has had to have the transmission fixed. It cost him 1300 dollars.
rt avenger offers a little bit of luxury on the interior, a sporty look on the outside and the 3.5 to top it off..also does well on gas ..malibu and fusions are ugly as hell..those are ur rentals
Man it's personal preference. Not everyone will see it how I do or how You do & ect. If someone wants to spend 20,000 or more on something why should it bother you? And why spend the time telling somone what a piece of junk they are? Because as I said.. You do not have to drive it... Makes no sense to me.
They are the lowest rated vehicle in their segment by every single automotive publication. Consumer Reports, JD Power and TrueDelta all rate the two (Avenger and Sebring) as being very unreliable. With this, resale value is far worse than any Korean vehicle you can purchase.
The Sebring and Avenger are junk. Most on the road are, unfortunately, rental cars.
Soon most Chryslers are going to be Fiats and the money will be going to Italy.

I bought my Avenger SXT the same day I took a collision avoidance class. The things I saw and learned in that class made me think twice about doing stuff like this.
I used to have, and street race with, a Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX. I've had some close calls, and been caught speeding many times. Unless hardly anybody else is on the road, or you're on an interstate, I wouldn't suggest doing this. It's not worth it. But still nice acceleration!
They made the new avenger look so damn cool, why can't they make it into an SRT? Instead of the stupid chrysler crossfire, they could make the avenger into the new SRT-6, give it the bigger 3.5L engine and a turbo. I work at a rental car company and I drive our cars, our midsize class is the avenger....and even the RTs are just ...so underpowered for how awesome they look.

Wait, what? Have you ever driven an automatic? I doubt it. Oooh Automatic downshifts to where it needs to be. Press the pedal down and it downshifts to the correct gear, so you can pass. Betcha didn't know that. Being the idiot that you seem to be, you probably thought it only selects gear based on the vehicle speed. It bases it on Throttle position, engine RPM, and vehicle speed. If you have cruise on and go up a hill, if it can't maintain speed, it downshifts so it can.
I own 2 automatics cockboy. That was pretty obvious but it won't hold at say 4000 rpm it will eventually shift wether you want it to or not. I have even had it happen to me uphill.
Some automatics are better for climbing hills than others. Newer ones are better at not hunting for gears on grades. But to me, the benefits of an automatic outweigh the cons. Why do you think nearly all heavy duty trucks come with automatics?
Towing, maybe. How exactly do you get more power? If the clutch isn't locked up, its slipping. The torque converter in an automatic generates more torque when it is slipping at lower speeds, which it is supposed to do. How do you have more freedom?

Is this the 2.7L or the 3.5L? Whichever it is, it sounds very good for a V6. Chrysler has the best sounding V6 engines out there. Especially the one in the Challenger.
I just bought a 2009 Dodge Avenger SXT. It's great, I love it! Couldn't be happier. It's quiet, comfortable, looks awesome in and out, and fast. What else can you ask for?

The 3.5L is a nice engine! It's shared with several other LX chassis vehicles such as the Charger, 300C and earlier Pacifica models. It was also in the 300M sedan and Concorde until they were discontinued. In V6 trim there are better cars on the market in terms of dynamics handling and power, but with the Avenger the price is right. Even the base 2.4L SXT is quick for its size and weight and starts at the lowest price over its competitors
I do agree with that a top speed of 120 is weak unfortly I have a stock 05 sebring with govener of 115.But I can say I smoked a 07 Saab 9-3 with it.But Saabs are nice cars.I wouldnt mind having one.Not trying to dis on your Saab yeah my car may not have the top speed but it sure has the acceleration.

True. the avenger would def get alot more respect if the even put the limiter at like 145 ish. My saab was limited to 135 mph. But BSR fixed that problem. They need to raise the limiter and drop the back doors on the new avengers. My 97 was so much better looking and faster. Ofcourse i had to load money in it constantly to make it descent...
I like the 4 doors, but depends what your using it for. sports car or hauling some people and junk. that would be sweet if they come out with a srt avenger with 300 hp v6 or a v8. then do some stuff to the body to make it look sharper like they do for the rest of the srts. most tires are only rated for like 120 i read, that's probably why they did the govern that low.

If they are as bad as a car u say the rental company would not want them they would have lots of unhappy customers.
There is a dude next door to me that has one. He has had it for a few years now and loves it. I see them all the time and I highley doubt they are ALL rentals. Lets be real here rental companies buy the base model cars the ones I see are not the base. You can tell when its not a rental. They have some bumper stickers on or custom rims, sound systems and sometimes nothing.

Yeah well I will take my chances with the dodge. They have a 100,000 mile warranty that they come with anyway. I like chevy but just don't like the style of there cars right now. Chevey's number of sales and not much higher then Dodge. Everyone I know that has a Dodge has not had any problems with them. Now the dude I know that owns a ford has had to have the transmission fixed. It cost him 1300 dollars.

rt avenger offers a little bit of luxury on the interior, a sporty look on the outside and the 3.5 to top it off..also does well on gas ..malibu and fusions are ugly as hell..those are ur rentals

They are the lowest rated vehicle in their segment by every single automotive publication. Consumer Reports, JD Power and TrueDelta all rate the two (Avenger and Sebring) as being very unreliable. With this, resale value is far worse than any Korean vehicle you can purchase.
The Sebring and Avenger are junk. Most on the road are, unfortunately, rental cars.

I bought my Avenger SXT the same day I took a collision avoidance class. The things I saw and learned in that class made me think twice about doing stuff like this.
I used to have, and street race with, a Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX. I've had some close calls, and been caught speeding many times. Unless hardly anybody else is on the road, or you're on an interstate, I wouldn't suggest doing this. It's not worth it. But still nice acceleration!

They made the new avenger look so damn cool, why can't they make it into an SRT? Instead of the stupid chrysler crossfire, they could make the avenger into the new SRT-6, give it the bigger 3.5L engine and a turbo. I work at a rental car company and I drive our cars, our midsize class is the avenger....and even the RTs are just ...so underpowered for how awesome they look.

Thats because people like you are lazy and dont want to be bothered with shifting because you would rather focus on dumb shit like the radio. A manual gets better gas mileage,more rpm range to get that extra power squeeze your automatic wont let you have, and they can handle more abuse than an automatic. your auto trans will go long before a stick does.

Your dumb. Why would I want to worry about shifting? A manual does NOT get better gas mileage anymore. Lockup torque converters have ensured that. Some automatics get better mileage even than a manual. And who case about more rpm range unless your racing? Then a manual is fine. But for everyday driving, an auto is better. Oh, and automatics don't have a clutch to burn out, like a manual does.

First off your dumb because you spelled cares wrong, and if you don't race you won't need to worry about burning up a clutch unless YOU CAN'T DRIVE! Automatic anything is annoying trying to climb hills going on vacation or passing something uphill on the highway (EXTRA RPM'S COME IN HANDY!), but Who cares about that though right? Wait, what? Have you ever driven an automatic? I doubt it. Oooh Automatic downshifts to where it needs to be. Press the pedal down and it downshifts to the correct gear, so you can pass. Betcha didn't know that. Being the idiot that you seem to be, you probably thought it only selects gear based on the vehicle speed. It bases it on Throttle position, engine RPM, and vehicle speed. If you have cruise on and go up a hill, if it can't maintain speed, it downshifts so it can.

I own 2 automatics cockboy. That was pretty obvious but it won't hold at say 4000 rpm it will eventually shift wether you want it to or not. I have even had it happen to me uphill.

Some automatics are better for climbing hills than others. Newer ones are better at not hunting for gears on grades. But to me, the benefits of an automatic outweigh the cons. Why do you think nearly all heavy duty trucks come with automatics?

Towing, maybe. How exactly do you get more power? If the clutch isn't locked up, its slipping. The torque converter in an automatic generates more torque when it is slipping at lower speeds, which it is supposed to do. How do you have more freedom?

The 3.5L is a nice engine! It's shared with several other LX chassis vehicles such as the Charger, 300C and earlier Pacifica models. It was also in the 300M sedan and Concorde until they were discontinued. In V6 trim there are better cars on the market in terms of dynamics handling and power, but with the Avenger the price is right. Even the base 2.4L SXT is quick for its size and weight and starts at the lowest price over its competitors

I do agree with that a top speed of 120 is weak unfortly I have a stock 05 sebring with govener of 115.But I can say I smoked a 07 Saab 9-3 with it.But Saabs are nice cars.I wouldnt mind having one.Not trying to dis on your Saab yeah my car may not have the top speed but it sure has the acceleration.

Either way the Avenger is a car made for looks and MPG. Yours maybe cheaper but sometimes it's not how fast a car is it's how it looks. The avenger looks mean and no one can take that away from it. Not saying your saab is ugly by the way.

it would be interesting to see how fast the RT can go w/o the govern and high speed tires. Mine's governed at 118 and thats only in 5th gear at like 4 or 5 grand for RPMs. 6th gear red line would be pretty damn fast that's for sure.

True. the avenger would def get alot more respect if the even put the limiter at like 145 ish. My saab was limited to 135 mph. But BSR fixed that problem. They need to raise the limiter and drop the back doors on the new avengers. My 97 was so much better looking and faster. Ofcourse i had to load money in it constantly to make it descent...

I like the 4 doors, but depends what your using it for. sports car or hauling some people and junk. that would be sweet if they come out with a srt avenger with 300 hp v6 or a v8. then do some stuff to the body to make it look sharper like they do for the rest of the srts. most tires are only rated for like 120 i read, that's probably why they did the govern that low.
I put a K&N air filter in mine for $50.Makes a big difference in acceleration...

I agree. They should do what they did with the Crossfire, put a supercharged V6 in there. The only problem would be putting the power down to the front wheels as the current AWD system won't handle that power.
