  • Living zen is to have no aim. Being in Zen state is possible in any position, the standard sitting with your legs in a joint destroying position is bullshit. Cows are more Zen than most Zen Buddhist. They do only what is needed to provide survivability to the flow of life. Buddhist monks, they have to consume silk to make their own robes when they could simply go naked. Shame on them.

  • It is a shame how the drug culture of the 60's has been so associated with Zen Buddhism. Like so many other things America has contaminiated and defiled the name of something that was originally pure. This is just Christians making fun of a non christian religion as best they can. Christianity has caused the death and destruction of more people more cultures than any other religion on earth ( so far ).

  • Association doesn't mean anything, those who are engulfed in the vicious cycle of association see only subliminal messages everywhere. Purity does not exist and neither does corruption. People stand still in a cosmos that is built and reliant on flow. Honest flow. Flow that can fix itself. People becoming too idle. They sit on their buttholes while problems develop. Taoism and Buddhism, or, rather, the modern perception of it, is taking us down the toilet, one day at a time.

  • @shdw2k6 The cosmos is not built. How can flow fix itself if it is not broken? If purity and corruption do not exist how can there be problems and how can we be headed down the toilet? What you have said really doesn't say anything does it. This is the kind of crap that people ASSOCIATE with Zen, when in fact Zen is about the discipline of meditation.

  • @mlcoo17

Exactly, everything said doesn't say anything. We find the meaning we want behind each word, problem, perceived problem, etc. Doesn't matter what people associate. Association only reinforces belief in said thing that is being associated with. And belief does nothing productive in the real objective reality we live in. Absolutely nothing. If you care of what people associate with Zen, then, meditate on this issue and don't spread it on YouTube, please.

  • @shdw2k6 I have no idea what you are talking about, you do not seem to be able to make a clear point. Maybe english is not your first language. The Zen that I practice has nothing to do with what you are talking about ( whatever that is ). It also has nothing to do with drugs, trances, levitation, psychic powers, seeing colors, etc. I practice meditation to simply calm my mind and stop the internal dialoge. The Zen that I know and practice is nothing like what you are talking about.

  • If you look up robert anton wilson he explains the ties between LSD and zen. altough i'll never do LSD so ill stick to zen :]

  • I always knew Zen buddhism was a load of hippy crap.

  • @vejaji2 Don't let one video fog your understanding of what Zen is. The Samurai practiced Zen too (to master the blade), and I assure you they weren't hippies.

    Cheers

  • Zen is being entirely connected with ones intuition at the same time as being connected to everything and everyone's intuition. Then, if one opens his ears wide enough and listens, intentionally and willingly, one becomes gifted with flow and true knowledge. Zen is a flawed gimmick. Everyone is Zen inherently. But when you are born, the bullshit of the deprived elders around you influence you into retardedness just so they can have some feeling of control. Control is pure bullshit too.

  • erm...

  • In fairness. I hardly ever see people mocking Zen Buddhism, so this is at least unique. Even us Zen practitioners should look at ourselves and laugh (if we're anything like this HAHA!)

  • very funny,idiots

  • they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about, speaking in nonsensical riddles and acting like they are stoned. A bit insulting to our way of life, but to each his own i suppose.

  • As one of the actors in this movie I know that we actually quoted much of this from Zen Buddhism books :)

  • Zen and books have nothing in common.

  • Bullshit!!!

  • assholes

  • Did I miss something? What does Zen have to do with LSD???

  • Try being yourself

    Zen is not pretense

    The teachings are precious

    this is rather not

  • whats that??

  • I saw these guys at a Rainbow Gathering. So I left and went to a Grateful Dead show instead.

  • how stone are these two ,I wish I was as high as they are!

  • This was a video they used for a class room project in highshool. They don't know how to write essay papers, so they begged their teacher to accept a piece of shit instead of the assignment.

Please take this off, or name it something else.

  • I'm impressed, I was never able to find the combination of LSD, mushrooms, alchohol, black tar heroin, meth and a hint of nutmeg to acheive what these people have.(now theres just Zazen, sigh...) Gassho.

  • It's a comic sketch, not terribly funny, but a sketch nonetheless. At 5.50 he flips out.

Zen practice to me is the whole bag. Sometimes it's beautiful, sometimes it's ugly, everything I bring with me into the practice.

  • These people are hippies NOT ZEN!

  • NOT Zen, just pseudo-buddhist hippie counter-culture types, mouthing Zen ohilosophies. to draw attention to themselves.

  • A man once went to a Zen temple to meditate. He bought some food off a monk. He paid with a large bill but didn't get any change. The man inquired into why the monk didn't give him his change. The monk told him that change can only come from within and that no one can give it. Suddenly, the man was enlightened.

  • Below is a zen koan by one enlightened master.

Before I practise Zen, I saw mountains as mountains, and water as water.

When I arrived at a more intimate knowledge, I came to the point where I saw that mountains are not mountains, and water are not water.

But now that I have got its very substance I am at rest. For it's just that I see mountains once again as mountains, and water once again as water.

If you cannot explain, you're still not enlightened.

  • Life is emptiness Mind is empty by nature

So if everything is empty what do we do?

  • the way they sit when meditating is already wrong @_@

  • can't you tell that these ppl are on lsd lol! they are so stoned

  • zen is beautiful. it is everything and nothing...this is all ego.....this is not zen its bad acting.

  • wtf

  • boring

  • I appreciate the effort.

  • arrogance

  • shame that it is a shame

  • This poor atempt at humor and satire merely demonstrates their lack of talent, and the misleading title has gained for them far more views than they will ever be worth.

  • kinda disgraceful to zen nature but Buddha says to be free is to accept not follow accept ideas from other. i agree but i also say these are loser hippies lol

  • zen is an amazing thing but these two are dicks

  • Move on.

  • I think these people got bored one day and decided to mock people who practice zen or any spiritual path. Maybe if they gave zen a chance they would have a different view. Still funny all the same though.

  • Zen creates such joy. It is evedent that they are jumping for joy in nirvana! Congradulations, have a good time!

    Namaste

  • great you made a video about a bunch of dirty hippies that intentionally didn't touch anything to do with zen buddhism

  • These people don't know what zen is but they want to make zen redicules!! Losers are they.... hahahahahah

  • wouldnt know what zen was if it came up and dumped on there heads

  • stupd ugly hippies. What does this got to do with Zen?

    Losers!

  • Puff, puff, pass...

  • What you said in your statement above.

  • Terrible acting, bad script and has absolutely nothing to do with Zen buddhism. If you want to make a parody about something, you have to know at least a little bit about what it is...

  • Prove it

  • Prove what...?

  • The heart of zen is a computer screen.

  • Its ironic because the more you get down to it, the doctrine is secondary and isn't the heart of Zen.

  • Fair enough comment zenstudent37

  • For a more genuine instruction on Zen Buddhism, I suggest that seekers look elswhere. A friend of mine, disciple of Zen, can truely help you. These guys belong on a stage where acts belong....

  • Yes, to a large extent we were. However, a lot of what we said was quoted from Zen Buddhist literature.

  • i hope they are joking
