@Appleshaz It's call the EICAS , well, it shows how much thrust each engine gives, and also gives out some info on the status of the plane's equipment(may sound wrong to other aviators, trying to simplify it)
From my investigations into the matter, I think this video shows a typical "Mariner Two Departure" as depicted in the Newark Airport Departure charts etc.
Well, who cares. ATC don't get it right all the time either, I was once calling Liverpool tower for 5 minutes before they responded, and I was on approach aswell.
As far as I could understand, the captain said something like "I'm going to switch on the..." and the co-pilot said "No need to.." What were they talking about?

i never knew the cockpit ATC is on speakers. I always thought they all communications toATC was done via headsets (and mic of course)

@Appleshaz radios and navaids generally, you control other things like TCAS from this area on Boeings too

@Appleshaz It shows how much power is being used, like a speedometer, but for the engine power, not actual speed :)

They missed there first call from Newark Tower to contact Newark depature. Nice video though...
Kaipeternicolas 3 years ago
Lol I thought I was the only one to notice that, with all the things you have to do, unfortunately you might miss a few calls
trechan 3 years ago
aviate - navigate - communicate In that order. So you are right on.
mrubin72 3 years ago
Wrong. When tower said to switch to departure ( 1:16 ) he said alright at
( 1:19 ) and switched. You can hear him contacting departure at ( 1:25 ) .
lakey312 3 years ago 5
Are u stupid? The TWR said already at 1:11 he should contact DEPATURE and ElAl missed it.
Kaipeternicolas 3 years ago
Nope. He told the ELAI to switch, they responded with "Alright", and TWR then said "OK" and they switched.
blueb0g 2 years ago
@blueb0g That is totally wrong! He had to say twice 'EL AL 028 HEAVY CONTACT DEPARTURE'
And the second time the ELAL crew responded with 'bye bye'
Kaipeternicolas 2 years ago 5
Well, who cares. ATC don't get it right all the time either, I was once calling Liverpool tower for 5 minutes before they responded, and I was on approach aswell.
blueb0g 2 years ago
And anyway, the 1st time he called they were messing with the autopilot.
