A year ago I saw a pimple on my inside thigh. A day later it was walnut sized, another day later and it was hand-sized and hard as a rock. Went to the doctor and diagnosed MRSA. A 10-day round of old-fashioned, vomiting-prone antibiotics. No idea where or how I was infected. A friend went to an ER and picked up hospital-grade MRSA. He returned to the ER with the infection and was admitted for 9-days in an isolation room battling for his life. The stuff does kill.
i honestly couldnt watch the whole video. I have MRSA and i get a huge pump like once every few months. I hope it dosent progress into something life threatening........
Well said ovy4213. MRSA can make you ill but it is not a death sentence. It is not listed as a top 10 cause of death in any developed country. Heart disease, cancers, strokes, diabetes etc are bigger problems than MRSA. Depending on the location/severity of the MRSA infection & after lab testing, doctors have several treatment options. Unfortunately a minority will not respond to treatment. This video was overtly dramatic & unnecessary. As infections go VRE is the hardest to treat.
Bone infections called osteomylitis is one that I have not seen for almost 30 years and so the present day doctors will probably not even know how to diagnose them. It is not only the most difficult one to treat with drugs but also difficult to manage due to the "Foul smell" and very painful to patients.
As a microbiologist I must say, all this info seems to be of wikipedia quality, allot of technical terms, but very mixed up, read from a text book and then created links between them in your head. Do no fear of MRSA unless in hospital conditions, as you all have MRSA on you now, in your nose etc, its only in hospitals where immune systems are weaker that the majority of infections occur.
Man someone needs to squeeze that old womans face. I had MRSA in my neck. It swelled up to the size of a softball overnight. When I say softball I am not exaggerating like most dummies do. I was in the hospital for 5 days and the infection had gone down my back about halfway. It was from a poison ivy rash on my arm. The Dr. does not know how it moved to my neck so quickly when my arm was healing up fine.
How do you stop an autistic individual with OCD from chewing fingers? I've got a child who has had more than 12 MRSA infections in her fingers in the past 3 years - including deep cellulitis. She's passed it to many people because of the location of her infections and the fact that she doesn't keep the bandaids on. We tried the antibiotic in the nasal cavities for 10 days and bathing in bleach (a small amount added to the bath water), and it keeps coming back.
@yintibbies gloves? maybe you can try and get her comfortable wearing gloves it may be a difficult to impossible task but worth a try. my cousin who has autism is absolutey obsessed with spongebob i would try finding her some spongebob gloves. try finding her something you think might suit her so she would become easily adjusted to them and wear them often.
thereof one must wonder no more. patient gets the hasty and often unnecessary antibiotics.
the fodder is supplemented with antibiotics ... and we eat the meat. Vegetables are mixed with antibiotics. for example Holland, tomato. grew up around a good and profitable enough to get ... and we eat the vegetables.
I sometimes wonder why people focus on MRSA, at least it is treatable. I'm more worried about VRE myself since that bacteria is resistant to all forms of antibiotics.
What if it was Mrsa I would have been dead because of where it was right on top of the liphnode not fun was in alot of pain all the pain meds they gave me was not working so in five days they gave me 198 pills of oxycodone 5 mg and it did not work so yea
OK to the people on hear who dont think that this could happen to you guess what I am a 25 year old male who has nothing wrong and one damn a abscess came about on my upper leg xxx area right in the joint area for the hip but any who the DR thought it was Mrsa and said when I come back in two days I will have to go under the knife and loss apart of my leg not cool scard the shit out of me fir six days to find out what it was thank God it was just a staff invection and a simple one but still
this is a man made problem, got a cold antibiotics, flu antibiotics, .............. if doctors would refuse to give antibiotics and only use as a last resort then we wouldnt have this problem.
whats wrong with letting the body fight off infections.
What a stupid video. At approx the 1 min mark it says staph could be on you, your friend, bla bla bla. Staph most likely is on you or in your house and has been on you. Its not that uncommon. Epidemic is such an overstatement its ridiculous. Its only coming to light because its being reported more and meth users our out of control. Its a serious issue but nothing like this overblown vid. It is on U tube enough said.
I dont believe 19,000 people die of staph out of 94K. I think that is a totally made up number. There is no way there is a 20% mortality rate. Its more than AIDS cause not that many people die of aids. Its not like were Africa were those savages are dying in the thousands because they are fucking animals.
Great video, but the song is really loud and distracting and makes the video seem overly dramatic. Hard to take seriously. I would like to link to it, but not with the music the way it is.

A stupid, misleading video. Even the title is descriptive crap. Why did you waste your own time and ours making this?

@ithamander32 Maybe you can try eating raw garlic and applying it to the affected area. I heard it helps with treating bacterial infections.
