I'm a big fan of the older diesels, they just don't die. Mine has 405.000 km's now. If you hear that engine, you just know it'll never let you down. Also I like the fact that it's incredibly fuel efficiënt, has wider range, they don't overheat as easily as petrol cars and a diesel engine delivers it's power in a very steady linear way. You don't have to rev it as much, more relaxed. No sensitive and expensive ignition system (sparkplugs, distributor, plugcables etc). I love it :-)
What do you think of the diesel? I'm thinking of picking up an 1978 Deisel rabbit

i have this same car only mine is an american version or the rabbit. is your dash arrangement from a different model car? or is it factory

It's standard for the later models, I think after '81 or so. Maybe in the US they only had the first model.
