I literally did this 10x before i got it down right. The spikes would slow me down, metal sonic hits me, Eggman finishes me with his insta-death ray -_-
@mikey3565 It's Stardust Speedway (Bad Feature). The one you are playing might be the Japanese soundtrack. This one is the USA soundtrack of Stardust.
The metal sonic in death egg was most likely a prototype. It was also completely destroyed in a blown up death egg. So this Metal sonic must be a complete new build.

I'm kinda disapointed that they used that japanese stardust speedway music for the Metal Sonic battle in Sonic Generations. Sue me, but I like the US soundtrack on Sonic CD way better than the JAP one.
Well the US version of Stardust speedway is in generations as an unlockable track. You can set it as the boss music for the metal sonic race if you really prefer the US theme. To be honest I was pretty surprised when I found out it was in generations but I've got no complaints.
There's a couple ways but a lot of it's luck. When you beat a challenge a bell appears above the door and if you hit the bell, a music note comes out and if you collect it you unlock a random song or artwork. Also if you collect the red star rings in the main stages you also unlock songs/artwork. Its pretty random what you unlock, I was lucky enough to unlock stardust speedway US version pretty quickly.
Honestly there needs to be a remake of this one. This is one of my favorite sonic games, I loved the game, the bosses were meh, and the levels were weak, but if sega remade it and had the balls to go back to this sonic instead of sonic the dogchog, or sonic on-leash then Sega would mean something to me again.

@GalthanaTroper Sonic CD is really weak as far as level design goes. If you want to see Sonic at his best, play the first three main games in the series. The Advance games and Heroes are the only ones that really come close to those three.
@MarioFanaticXV You don't think Adventure 1 or Colors were better than Heroes? Honestly, I think both of those games were more well done overall than it.
@bioniclefan4life Colors was decent- mind you, I've only played the Wii version- but it still didn't get back into the stride they had before. Hopefully Generations will be a full blown return to greatness, but Colors only laid the foundation for such, it wasn't that return itself. As for Sonic Adventure, it was really weighed down with Amy and Big's stories, and overall the level design wasn't that great- once again, it laid down a great foundation for SA2 and Heroes, but wasn't great itself.

See, Genesis fanboys? Sonic has always been a racing game. Pure in-your-face speed and reflex-based challenges. Labyrinth Zone's boss is a race, too. You're racing against the water and trying to reach the top before it's too late. No other platformer in 1991-1994 had these kinds of challenges. There should have been races like this in all of the Genesis games. Maybe then people would stop saying they were just like Mario.
@System509 To be honest, it's really not that great. Visually, it was much better than the other classic Sonic games, but the level design was easily the worst of them, and was even surpassed by most of the Game Gear Sonics. It's a decent game, but not something that you should get yourself excited over by any means.
@LUMBARDO12 No that was a differen't sonic robot. There are two robots: Silver Sonic (or Mecha Sonic in Japan), and Metal Sonic. Silver Sonic was the one from Sonic 2, they are compleatly differen't from eachother.

In generations he is in stardust speedway as well and he doesn't exactly race you he follows you from closer in the screen and charges at you apparently until the end where it turns to an arena battle (hit on head 5-6 times he dies, capsule)

@Momentum139, Its being ported to XBL, and PSN (not PSP), meaning Sonic CD is coming to PS3 and 360, and also the Android. (I dont care much for phones, so...meh)
And about Sonic Generations, Stardust Speedway and the Metal Sonic boss fight will appear after the Chemical Plant Zone stage.
Shadow will be the boss fight after City Escape, and Perfect Chaos will be the boss fight after Speed Highway.
its in Sonic Generations with Classic Sonic. I think the classic bosses will actually be with Classic Sonic, and the Modern ones with Modern Sonic. Thats too bad :c

Yeah, I searched right after I responded. I just hope he's only that short for during the Classic Sonic stage, and bring him to his current taller height for the Modern Sonic stage. Byt hat, I mean his height in Sonic Adventure DX, SA2, Rivals, etc.
I know that. I saw the post before SEGA made them take down all the assets. I was so excited when I saw Perfect Chaos as a boss, because I loved that fight, and I can't wait to see how they handle both Open Your Heart and the two versions of the fight.
@Trogdorbad They've released screenshots showing that it is indeed the Metal Sonic Race from CD. They'r even using the bad future to boot. Now let's just hope they decide to go with the American soundtrack for it instead of the Japanese one (In the case of Stardust speedway I found the Us version to have far better and more fitting music).
I find it amusing how everyone's telling me things days after I've already seen it :V Also, I disagree. The JP/PAL soundtrack was much better. Hopefully they use the JP/PAL version, with US mixed in somewhere.
@MrKillerRaven The US soundtrack is definitely going to be put in. Though I'm not a purist, I do like the JP/EU version better, but I like the US too. It fits better with the racing portion.

@MarioFanaticXV There was a leaked video just yesterday. Got put up and taken down multiple times. Metal Sonic is similar to the boss fights from Sonic Advance 2, were you run away from them, dodge an attack, then attack yourself. The video made it seem extremely easy as well.
@MarioFanaticXV It's now pretty much CONFIRMED Metal Sonic is going to be in it, but looking at the level list (files seen from hacking the demo) I'm not sure what level or era he will be in. If you raced classic then fought Modern Metal Sonic, that would be epic. Especially if you got the choice of who to play as in each eg: Modern Sonic races Classic Metal, while Classic Sonic fights Modern Metal or you could do it the other way round. :D

I do agree. I was ecstatic for Perfect Chaos to get a return, but if they do this as the Metal Sonic fight, it will be the most amazing thing ever. Classic Sonic could just run through this, with the minor changes that are in all the levels, and Modern...I can't even begin to comprehend how cool it would be. Just imagine fast paced running, Metal Sonic keeping perfect pace with you as you boost, Robotnik about to obliterate you, with lots of corkscrews and hairpin turns.

@DavidandBE Sonic Gems Collection. It's a compilation game that was made for the GameCube, and in Europe it was ported over to the PlayStation 2 as well.

See, Genesis fanboys? Sonic has always been a racing game. Pure in-your-face speed and reflex-based challenges. Labyrinth Zone's boss is a race, too. You're racing against the water and trying to reach the top before it's too late. No other platformer in 1991-1994 had these kinds of challenges. There should have been races like this in all of the Genesis games. Maybe then people would stop saying they were just like Mario.

@System509 To be honest, it's really not that great. Visually, it was much better than the other classic Sonic games, but the level design was easily the worst of them, and was even surpassed by most of the Game Gear Sonics. It's a decent game, but not something that you should get yourself excited over by any means.

@LUMBARDO12 No that was a differen't sonic robot. There are two robots: Silver Sonic (or Mecha Sonic in Japan), and Metal Sonic. Silver Sonic was the one from Sonic 2, they are compleatly differen't from eachother.

In generations he is in stardust speedway as well and he doesn't exactly race you he follows you from closer in the screen and charges at you apparently until the end where it turns to an arena battle (hit on head 5-6 times he dies, capsule)

@Momentum139, Its being ported to XBL, and PSN (not PSP), meaning Sonic CD is coming to PS3 and 360, and also the Android. (I dont care much for phones, so...meh)
And about Sonic Generations, Stardust Speedway and the Metal Sonic boss fight will appear after the Chemical Plant Zone stage.
Shadow will be the boss fight after City Escape, and Perfect Chaos will be the boss fight after Speed Highway.

I know that. I saw the post before SEGA made them take down all the assets. I was so excited when I saw Perfect Chaos as a boss, because I loved that fight, and I can't wait to see how they handle both Open Your Heart and the two versions of the fight.

@Trogdorbad They've released screenshots showing that it is indeed the Metal Sonic Race from CD. They'r even using the bad future to boot. Now let's just hope they decide to go with the American soundtrack for it instead of the Japanese one (In the case of Stardust speedway I found the Us version to have far better and more fitting music).

I find it amusing how everyone's telling me things days after I've already seen it :V Also, I disagree. The JP/PAL soundtrack was much better. Hopefully they use the JP/PAL version, with US mixed in somewhere.

@MrKillerRaven The US soundtrack is definitely going to be put in. Though I'm not a purist, I do like the JP/EU version better, but I like the US too. It fits better with the racing portion.
Though I'll never get tired of the Sax in the EU OST.

@MarioFanaticXV There was a leaked video just yesterday. Got put up and taken down multiple times. Metal Sonic is similar to the boss fights from Sonic Advance 2, were you run away from them, dodge an attack, then attack yourself. The video made it seem extremely easy as well.

@MarioFanaticXV It's now pretty much CONFIRMED Metal Sonic is going to be in it, but looking at the level list (files seen from hacking the demo) I'm not sure what level or era he will be in. If you raced classic then fought Modern Metal Sonic, that would be epic. Especially if you got the choice of who to play as in each eg: Modern Sonic races Classic Metal, while Classic Sonic fights Modern Metal or you could do it the other way round. :D

I do agree. I was ecstatic for Perfect Chaos to get a return, but if they do this as the Metal Sonic fight, it will be the most amazing thing ever. Classic Sonic could just run through this, with the minor changes that are in all the levels, and Modern...I can't even begin to comprehend how cool it would be. Just imagine fast paced running, Metal Sonic keeping perfect pace with you as you boost, Robotnik about to obliterate you, with lots of corkscrews and hairpin turns.
