This winter is going to be exceptionally cold. Be prepared for global cooling to take place over the next 25 years at least, and for the cooler conditions to prevail for the next 100 years.

Not only has the gulf stream stopped flowing to British waters, but solar activity is weakening at a dramatic rate, mostly as of 2011. The only difference between a summer high in France and Britain to the freezing temperatures of Nova Scotia of equal latitude has been warmer waters and elevation.

look, if you put in google ''gulf stream stoped'' you will see many articals going back a few years ago talking about how the Uk will become much colder with more snowfall, I was telling people this 3 years ago. The gulf stream that keeps the UK mild in the winter has stoped! this is big news that I knew would happen, and no one is talking about it. I have seen this in Phoenix as well. I lived in Great Britian for a year very beautiful country and a lot of nice pple. I also spent 3 years in Maryland NO THANKS I hate driving in snow, at that time they did not maintain the streets very well. Snow is beautiful but if you get to much and streets are not maintained DRIVING is a nightmare!

Snow on the Wirral is a VERY rare sighting! It is a peninsula, thus experiences much milder conditions, meaning no snow! hardly ever! This was extreme to us Wirral people lol!! :D

We had 3inches (average) and 1 snow day kept about all week because it didn't rise about 0 (or hardly) all week!

It might be worth bearing in mind too that Scotland has it's own government, devolved from UK government yes but they have their own separate powers.

Because of the climate up there they're bound to have more permanent, tried-and-tested measures in place to cope with wintry weather. As has been mentioned, England does not get this kind of weather often, when we do it doesn't last long, so there is not such a desperate need for countermeasures.

I get bored of people in other countries saying ''we got 10 ft of snow and we cope'' or ''its minus 100 here and we stil get to work''... that's because the governments of those countries can spend huge amounts of money to ensure your contries CAN cope...here in the U.K, it just wouldn't be cost effective as such extreme weather is quite rare...that is why 5'' of snow may not be much to you, but it can bring the U.K to a standstill.
