  • Love it

  • incredible.

  • HAVE.TO.SEE.THEM.LIVE

  • I mean, this is the effing definition for a live performance. It's a great band, and they have an incredible talent.

    Love these guys !!

  • gnar

  • Most music can get me tapping my foot or nodding my head. It takes honest to God talent and legitimate musicianship to write songs that consistently evoke emotional responses without singing a word. This is incredible.

  • Thanks to Friday Night Lights i discovered them. Regards from Spain. My favourite band since many years.

  • Funny that a guy has a mono t-shirt.

  • Mono!

  • :o0

  • The harshly-clipped audio and lofi videography actually makes it better, in an inexplicable way. I suppose the sincerity of their music can outshine even the failings of technology!

  • I have to know how to play the part that starts at 4:55

  • Beautiful music. It's the perfect kind of simple.

  • such a great song

  • Just saw them at the Royal Oak Theater in Michigan. Amazing show. Good stuff.

  • The single greatest piece of music my ears have ever had the pleasure to hear. Your music moves me in ways that cannot be described. I hope you continue to make music from the heart for the soul and that your notes never fade.

  • Gives me chills every time I hear this.

  • I.

    Love.

    This.

    Band.

  • Ansjdifihxnakaaosojsn

  • 3:50 when shit starts to get real. ffffuuuuuuuuuuuu it's so good.

  • Absolutely breathtaking

  • fucking sooo intense! <3

  • NJ awaits B-) can't wait, October

  • Holy living fuck @ the beat at 2:40

  • Can't wait to see them in Montreal then at Royal Oak in Detroit in October!!

  • Whenever I feel stressed or unhappy, I simply listen to this. I then feel very relaxed and happy:)

  • wow, just...wow...

  • not every emotion i can understand but every note is emotion - that;s why i love explosions in the sky ... i want their music plays in my funeral) that will be most pretty funeral in the world

  • ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ increíble lov this guys !!! truly

  • God these guys are the fucking shit.

    Love love love love them.

  • They sing their words through their chords.

  • awfully beautiful.

  • These guys could'nt carry a tune in a 5 gallon bucket. Their musicianship is just fuking awful...

  • @nickelfer Not only does your comment make no sense, it also fails to convince me after I watched this video.

  • @nickelfer Lol wtf XD They are really good don't hate :P

  • @nickelfer HUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUE I TROL YOU

  • The one-two punch of this song and Memorial kinda spoiled the band for me. How can they, or anyone else for that matter, ever top such material?

  • AMAZING!!!!!!! live OMG perfect. Like heaven, amazing talent. Words will not suffice.

  • awweee i gotta learn this, anyone have tabs?

  • These guys are my heros :)

  • post-rock. <3

  • lovely.

  • awesome awesome awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! totally.

  • play this in rainymood[DOT]com

  • look up "while the city sleeps - back when we knew", similar dreamy and big soundscapes.

  • This band has made the hairs on my arms raise and tingle since 1999. I was fortunate enough to know Chris when we were Chicago indie dorks, i split for Austin in 96. 1998 I meet Munaf and Michael, then come to find that they started a band with a guy I knew from Chicago. Still have the cassette demo and I still love this band. They have made some of the most gut wrenching musical mosaics I've ever had the good fortune to hear.

  • @eracguy I guy jealously thumbed you down. Hahaha!

  • I get the Mogwai comparisons, but do you guys realize that they're part of the same genre? It's called post -rock. That's like saying why does Mozart sound similar Beethoven? Well they use the same instruments and genre.

  • @countchunkula Mozart and Beethoven are part of the same genre? Lol.

Post rock is like no tag. Is like you do what you want, but shut your mouth and do very emotional and creative music. That's all.

  • this is amazing...... both live and studio version.

  • no one can ever listen to music and enjoy it, it's always "this sounds like this", which can be useful when used in a helpful way, but when used to critque something is just plain wrong, ppl that can't enjoy music usually don't enjoy life, it effects your pleasure centers in your brain, if they can't enjoy that then they usually are depressive synical assholes.

  • ripped off? what exactly does that mean in this sense? this is obviously a pure expression coming from the performers. References are owned by everyone. I wonder how much music is made by the folks in these comments. Is one supposed to choose between artists? That's just childish

  • Hello everyone !

Take a moment to listen to a home recorded song that I've done. Songs are going to be posted WEEKLY.

SO LISTEN AND ENJOY : )

  • you guys sure are doin a good job of feeding that kilt-wearing troll down there. ;D

  • look up "while the city sleeps - back when we knew", very similar colourful soundscapes and grand crescendos.

  • they should final fantasy's next soundtrack...

  • This is more than music, THIS IS ART. Fucking perfect.

  • @persadario Mogwai rip offs

  • @legandrydirk you=idiot.

  • @JonnoThomas Mogwai have made music since the 90ties.And clearly sound like this band.Who I have never heard off,so no doubt are a new band.Who have been listening to one of Scotland,s finest lo fi bands.

  • @legandrydirk These guys have been a band since the 90's dumbass. Also, a band is allowed to have influences and aspire to sound like another band, if that were not the case then there would be one band per genre you communist. There are thousands of "post rock" bands that sound similar. Shut up and enjoy real music.

  • @JonnoThomas Did you read my other post?Mogwai were around for 4 years longer. And in that time, honed a musical sound in the studio, that other bands used the new ways of creating music as they did.Nothing to do with the musician ship.It was down 2 how the music was produced,in newer studio,s.This band also sounds a lot like another Scottish band called Arab Strap from Falkirk.Glad the septic tanks caught up with what was going on here.Even if it was 4 years later. But that is America for you LOL.

  • @legandrydirk Alright man, well when you start making amazing music that speaks miles without words, then and only then will I listen to your pathetic excuse for an argument. Until then, keep hating on real musicianship and artistic expression.

  • @JonnoThomas Sorry but ripping off another bands, not amazing music. And I have not been critical.I have only said that they sound like Mogwai.Who quite clearly you have never heard,or even heard of Arab Strap. Also I have no interest is being in a band.Getting rich of them working for me,well that is another story.

  • Comment removed

  • @matrix2431 MOGWAI were making music sice 94,this band started in 99.Its quite clear who they are ripping off.I would go as far to say, that they have been listening to a lot of Arab Strap to.I thought they were a new band, cos there promoting a album in MOJO.They clearly have done nothing in the UK.Or I would have known about them. All I can say is they sound like a few Scottish bands BIG TIME OK,is that good enough for you?I hope it is and you can go and see for your self, older Scots bands to.

  • @legandrydirk Check out Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Formed 1994 in Canada, also a very influential post rock band. Of course anyone who into the genre loves Mogwai, I'm just saying they weren't the only band playing this kind of music at the time, far from it, nor were they the first, it was an evolution. Of course Mogwai are amazing and everything, but so are EITS, and they're not 'ripping off' anyone. Do yourself a favour and give EITS and GSYBE a thorough listen, you'll thank me later ;P

  • @matrix2431 I never said that they did.All that I said is this band sounds like them, and Arab Strap.

  • @legandrydirk You said they were a Mogwai rip off band like 5 times...

  • @matrix2431 OK they rip other bands off to.But seem to sound more like Mogwai.Who its clear rip of nobody.

  • @legandrydirk Gtfo

  • @legandrydirk Can't you just listen to the music and appreciate it? EITS is a post rock band. So is Mogway. So is Godspeed You! Black Emperor. So are a ton of bands. Post rock isn't as big of a genre as a lot of the mainstream stuff out there, but it's still pretty big. And Mogwai didn't start it either. At the end of the day, preference is just that - preference. Personally, I think Explosions' music has more soul in it, but Mogwai is still a great band.

  • @JonnoThomas Mogwai,formed 1995.Explosions in the sky,formed 1999.I retort once again for you.Explosions in the sky,MOGWAI rip of band.

  • cant wait 2C them next month! AAW YEA

  • @SpaceNTime77 Where r they pllaying

  • @9backinblack ATX

  • And no one made a single noise.

  • This is so, so good. IMO the best song from the best album of the best band, at least in post rock :)

  • @Arachnidius metal is my favorite genre, and Your Hand is Mine is the best and most beautiful thing ever written or created by man.

  • look up "while the city sleeps", similar big and colourful soundscapes.

  • @jesuislepluscool same.! black dahlia murder and explosions in the sky.

  • explosions in your face

  • I really felt that I passed six days at the bottom of the ocean

  • 53 people get too caught up in making up cutsie ass reasons for the dislikers' being. Oops.

  • explosions in the sky fans should look up "while the city sleeps, title track", similar big and spacy soundscapes!

  • I can't say anything thats not been said this band is GREAT !

  • Just got into this band and found out they are playing a show so close to me its unreal!

  • 52 muppets have their minds controlled by the media and cant get out of the hole they find themselves in and learn to appreciate real music , i pity them for they cant get their mediocre brains to get rid of the lady gagas , the lil waynes , the birdmans and the drakes of this world .. listen to this music and free your minds , close the televisions

  • @hopelesscasewtf TOOL fan?

  • FUCK!

    sound of heaven~~

    super thumbs up

dislikers hav no heart,a corrupted soul and are probably impotent

  • Fifty-two people spent fewer than six days at the bottom of the ocean.

  • @glassminimalist enough of these "the amount of dislikes" comments.

  • Damn!52 people missed the like button must either be retarded and/or deaf cause this band is awesome!

  • @BenjaminJDickson

who? explosions? NO ! of course they do man, ive been a fan for years... what gives you the idea that you need to tell me the have more studio albums? i was replying to ahndevil, about his band "thieves of the american dream" pay attention you dumbass

  • @MrMut3r woah calm down don't be getting sand in your vagina, captain explosions. It was a pretty benign comment that i put, and in no way was i questioning your musical knowledge prowess, which is clearly epic. peace out, perhaps get yourself some valium, or maybe a car full of carbon monoxide? ;)

    LY

  • @BenjaminJDickson

first of all, thanks for noticing my superior knowledge of music, that made my day. a valium? no thanks, ill smoke some herb. pretty hostile comment there for an explosions video... maybe take your own advice about the valium?!

  • Excellent recording!!!! AWESOME! Thanks for posting!

  • This band is fucking intense... I wish i had a blunt to bogart and trip out to this!

    Fucking EPIC!!!!

  • The fact that there's no vocalist is the best part, you get to make up your own lyrics!

  • 52 people don't have souls.

  • You know he played his little heart out when there are broken strings to end a 10 min tune. Nice!

  • And they say you cant see or hear God

  • @MikeDNewton munaf... is god.

  • @MikeDNewton are you implying that the sound coming from their instruments is/enables you to see god? can i have some of what you're taking?!!!

  • @MikeDNewton

please never post on youtube again

  • no words can describe this song...

  • ah... this is my fav song of theirs :P

  • That guitar should file rape charges. lol. JK. That was beautiful at the end though - love the way he let him go into it.

  • amazing.

  • im very grateful that you took one for the team and filmed during this

i would hate to split any attention from them

  • 52 people tried to hit the like button, but the ethereal soundscapes produced from this beautiful piece diminished their body's movement response by quite an amount; taking them to a place composed of win and continuous mindtrips!

  • 7:03 beautiful transition, wouldnt you agree?

  • ...i am one giant goosebump...

  • i doesnt matter if the people who listens to this music take shit or whatever, FACT! this is damn good.they're effin good....so good it reaches to the depth of your soul, makes u go mushy n think of all the bullshit you made out of your so called LIFE.no lyrics but the music just bore a hole to your core...Thank you Red for sharing this to me..

  • i spent a year and a alft in beijing china and it was so damn boring and chinese girls always lie by btw they realy always do!

and one morning i wokeup and my gf left a sms on my phone telling me she went back to her hometown, i saw this in the morning in the net bar where i was sleeping everynight cause i had no home, 'im an explorer, vagabon, backpacker, traveler. call it how you want, and my friend gave me some shrooms that i kept for me and her but she left me that morning

  • 52 people drowned in the bottom of the ocean.

  • I first heard this song 2 weeks ago. To be more specific, the first part i heard was at the 7:00 (on the album) mark, the part where it goes to just the two guitars before the finale. To be further specific, i heard that part 7 hours after i dropped some crazy tabs, and had roughly 3 more worth of tripping left in me. Needless to say, this song will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you Explosions in the Sky. Thank you.

  • I've heard life. and it is a beautiful thing.

  • It's like they took the best of Mike Oldfield's repetitiveness, and set it to guitars, enlivened with the interactivity of ensemble playing, and made smarter decisions about things like dynamics, rhythm section, and where and how to ace the mid-song transitions.

  • 4:55 onwards.... guitars were made to create sounds like that.

  • beautiful !

  • i prefer if these trees could talk
