  • "i am looking for an american girl"??? what??? CANADA IS ON THE AMERICAN CONTINENT.. THE UNITED STATES IS ON THE AMERICAN CONTINENT. HOWEVER, THEY ARE NOTTTTTTTTTTTTTT THE ONLY AMERICAN... IDIOTS LEARN SOME GEOGRAPHY...

  • @communistjesus the only reason why people from the United States are called American and not people from other North American countries, is because we lack a term to describe our selves...if we're not American, then what are we? United-States-ian? We know we're all from North America, and for a Canadian or a Mexican to say they are "North American" would be completely correct, but to say they are simply "American" is not correct.

  • fuck you usa lobbies burn in hell

  • You probably shouldn't mention STD's or pregnancy in your video trying to get a date. Because no, it's not "all good". You might as well have said "if you catch my herpes at least you can go see the doctor".

  • For some reason I cannot access this website! The screen just says "forbidden"...can anyone tell me why this is???!!! I need to marry a Canadian!

  • Hello viewers of this video, I have a request and as this funny video appears to be a good place to reach the people I'm looking for, I thought I give it a go and post here.

I'm an actor & theatre practitioner in London, currently working on a verbatim theatre piece on the AMERICAN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM and needing willing participants to share their views & experiences. Please click my Channel for more info. I'm looking forward to hearing from you - even if you are Canadian... ;) Thanks.

  • IS EVERYONE IN THIS VIDEO HIGH? HAHAHA ..

I AGREE WITH THEM THOUGH, OUR HEALTHCARE SYSTEM IS AMAZING!

  • LoL, This is kind of a funny concept, American's marrying Canadians for Healthcare. LoL. Hey, it could work. If you found the right person that is.

  • @Zulnic ......anyone who thinks canook health care is free,is delusional.....everyone pays, and pays and pays,.....the doctors we educate move to the states and the ones that we pay to see come from asia.....you may not get a bill when you go to the doctor, but its hardly free.....i'd love to sit down with michael moore, who i actually admire, and give him the real story of our much ballyhoo'd,but deeply flawed health care system

  • @buckandotis.....I understand that the healthcare isn't free, but personally, I'd rather live in a country where everyone takes care of each other, rather than shoving people off into the streets because they can't pay their healthcare. That's just sickening. Which is why, Canada, France, England, and Norway sound pretty good right about now.

  • @buckandotis ballyhoo'd? is that a Canadian word? I've never heard that before :)

  • @maddcat0 .....english,i'd guess, but i've heard it from american writers too....

  • Sicko makes me lol at America, do I ever feel bad for you guys. I'm a canadian but I'd rather live in France when it comes to health care. FREE BOOB JOBS FOR EVERYONE!

  • @Alyssacore I'm sorry I had to LoL at your comment. I agree though, this video makes me sick at America's Healthcare. France really does have better healthcare all round. Ponders the idea of Marrying a French lady......hmm

  • What the fuck was this!

  • Lol... I can give you all the free healthcare you need...

  • lol fuck yeah! after watching sicko, im just amazed on how things run down there. i feel bad for everyone ...

  • Humm i thought the united states is the best country i the whole world , i moved to canada on 1998 to live the dream i really wanted to move to states but unfortunately i was not accepted. thanks God they did not accept me bec USA sucks im happy here i can see a Dr. even if Im not sick

  • @bazziwalid so switched american dream for canadian dream

  • Canadian's rock! A bunch of real nice good hearted people who like to party and take care of one another. I think I just might become a Canadian.

  • Sucks how your health care system works... I hope things change for you guys, keep fighting the good fight! Its a real shame what you guys go through in the USA to just get medical aid.

    Good luck with that eh!

  • Canada FUCKIN rules!! BITCHES!! YEAH

  • The healthcare system is ok...not the best in the world and it's inefficient. However, I have never had trouble finding a doctor through the college of physicians website, every province has one, there's no excuse for not finding a family doctor accepting new patients.

  • It's probably better than the US health care system, I can tell you that.

  • in britian , if u had a problem at home u can ring the Clinic to bring a doctor to look at your problem.

  • I am a 54 year old woman who has trouble with my stomach and circulation. I am insured, but only for hospital care. That means I am not covered when I see a Doctor. My fees are much higher at the Doctors office than someone who co-pays. The result is that I don't see a Doctor and hope my urinary symptoms go away; my stomach syptoms go away and the pain in my legs all the time goes away. I cannot afford a Doctor even though I pay a hefty premium to the Health Insurance Co. We are so screwed

  • I have insurance and I cannot afford to see a Doctor. I am a 54 year old woman that has some health concerns. But can I afford a doctor. NOPE.... Will I probably die from Colon Cancer. Yes. Will I see a Doctor for it. NO.

  • In UK health is free. lived here 3 and half years and payed nothing. yes I do pay tax and national insurance but still I don't worry for my health even if I am jobless. wow

  • I love Canadian health care. it is an excellent system. BUT IT IS NOT FREE - - And this is our biggest mistake, as we all pay for it. (we do save money, by buying it collectively and by removing profit margins).

  • Just wait America, My friends just did their practicum in the emerg wards Waiting lists in emerg are tremendous. THere is no room for the growing population. The hall ways are clogged even with patients on wards. Operations sometimes are cancelled 3 times, even while in the hospital, (fr a friend who just go out of hosp) SO GET THE FACTS. I myself waited 8 hours in emergency with a swollen leg and blood condition. along with 40 people.Family doctors do not take patients, only walk in clincs do..

  • Please Please come to America and get a dose of reality!! I promise you you will LOVE your system when you leave!!! Here in the US You STILL wait well over 8 hours in an ER. I have waited up to 12 hours before. Also try paying 200 for a month for your healthcare alone, with all your other bills only to go to the DR and have everything DENIED and pay everything else out of pocket!

  • Its stories like this that make me sick. Putting profits before patients is wrong! I know I have been there. Its like my Canadian friends tell me, at least they don't have to bring their check book everytime they go to the doctors or hospitals. The Canadian system is not perfect, but it is better than the States!

  • We have free health care in Sweden too. Sweden rocks :)

  • Ours use to rock too in canada, but we cannot accomodate for our growing population. There are not enough Doctors being turned out of MEd school. People are forced to go to quick mend walk in clinics who have little if any time for cancer or serious cases. The end result death... As was reported last week in a local paper. Nice POLLY POSITIVE video no facts... or relevance.

  • If your universal health care use to rock in Canada, why can't you make it rock once again? As far as I can see it's all about proper funding. Anyway, the system they have south of your border is clearly not the answer.

Regards from a satisfied public health care user

  • Im just stating whats been in the papers. and what friends have witnessed. OK. Nothin wrong with listening to the news and statin the facts. Where is the funding going then in Canada we hve to ask? are you a health care worker?

  • No, I'm not a health care worker. Like I said I'm a satisfied health care user. But you didn't answer my question. If your free health care use to rock in Canada, like you said, then why can't you make it rock once more?

  • You are in NOrway, I know u have a good system. I can not go to school for 5 yrs to change things. Im only relying info. THis is what UTUBE IS ALL ABOUT. thanx for your kind suggestions.

  • Kim's hot!

  • Hey, im from norway, we have free healthcare too, marry me!

  • I found a Canuk!!!

Best kind of men in the world.

  • "Best kind of men in the world."

Obviously you haven't met me yet.

  • Are you French?

  • History seems to make the difference between France and the USA. France had the people's revolution (Tale of Two Cities)where the poor folks over ran the wealthy and cut off their heads. Because of that action the French government is fearful of what the mob could do to them so they treat the people well. In the USA the government never wants to see anything like a French revolution and therefore keeps it's people enslaved in perpetual debt.

  • this cannot be serious...

  • I am afraid that it is the US government that is inaccurate. Michael would never release a documentary on without having cold, hard facts. Otherwise he would be sued. A team of US lawyers work around the clock to find those inaccuracies. If you do not believe the facts, you are fooling yourself.

  • I also have to say in addition to my comment on Cuba that I was amazed to find that they were just two below us on the list of best to worst healthcare, when in fact, according to this documentary, they are not. Now who is bullshitting who?

  • And don't forget people, if you live on the Cali-Mexi boarder, it's just a short Amtrak trip to the Downtown San Diego station, and a 1/2 hour trolly to the boarder where you can pick up your RX's for pesos. Oh yah, you can go online, but you still pay up the ying, even though they say it's less expensive.

  • We have been let down and it's just tragic that you don't realize that it can be so much better. Canada is not perfect (France might be though) but maybe we COULD BE if we stopped and tried to fix this mess.

  • I want to move to France, however, my husband, being an Irish citizen, also has socialized medicine, and as his spouse, can also receive same. I love Ireland, been there many times, but sure love the coast of France, and after seeing this movie, only makes my love of France grow deeper. Lets defect, screw American health care. And WOW, Cuba...who would have guessed?

  • I'm with you. Let's escape and get the hell out of here before America builds some kind of wall (East Germany anyone???) to keep us in then it'll be too late!!

  • I can understand your pride in our country and I can understand how our current administration has appealed to the aggressive flag-wavers, etc. But c'mon, you lose any shred of credibility you may have had by defending this very sad state of health-care.

  • For the "defend America at all costs folks": Geez, for the sake of future generations, will you please wake up already! Listening to you defend this pathetic health-care system I'm tempted to think that you're joking. I'm the one being duped, right? You are not defending this system with a straight face, right?

  • You must have some pretty good docs, our canadian docs keep escaping down there, It must be your weather! Most A canadian pro skateboaaarder I know was going back down there to get his knee down........ Money talks.

  • Really? My bro is an American family practice doctor and he was pretty peeved about NHS doctors in the UK making double what he makes. maybe they should take a raft to the UK?

  • ya, I dont know their figures.. I just know our docs keep going down there.. WHATs your secret, just tonite in the Globe & Mail paper it stated we ship all our neo natal emergencies over flows down there too. Ya its the luck of the draw that Eisenhower didnt get you socialized Healthcare too its a shame...

  • the heath system he is not as good but its of every citzen and to help the majorty is beter then to help the few that can afford it, everyone has the right to medican and a doctor not just those who can afford it. GO CANADA!!!

  • LOL...I think this vid needs to be taken as what it is, a good laugh... some posters take themselves so seriously! Sheesh.. relax people. No system is perfect, what works for us in Canada may not work for others. But if your gonna post "facts" do some research first!! lol....

  • I think this video is a joke too, our system is ok, but look at some of the real FACTs I have posted, I have actually been scorned at by Canuckers, My facts are from the newspapers. NOT BY FOX... get it.......... hehe

  • Big Lie #2 about public health insurance:

In a public system, government bureaucrats decide what kind of treatment you get. Reality: No, DOCTORS decide. It's the American system that is plagued with bureaucracy, not public systems like Canada's. I have never dealt with a health insurance adjuster, gatekeeper or bureaucrat in my life. They don't exist, because everybody is in the same insurance pool. There's no need to exclude anyone in the interest of profit.

  • Well, this isn't exactly accurate. I am being denied specialised care by respirologists in my province, so doctors can decide whom they treat and who they "turn down." With an estimated 5 million Canadians lacking a family doctor its hard enough for some Canadians to receive basic healthcare let alone specialised care. If one lacks a family doctor its hard to get referrals to specialists and specialists need to send reports to a GP.

  • Big Lie #1 about public health insurance:

It costs more than what Americans have now. Reality: Single-payer health insurance is WAY cheaper. In Canada, overhead adds up to less than 2% of the total cost of health care. In the US, it's more like 30%. We spend about 8% of GDP on health care, and everyone is covered. The US spends about 14%, and half the population is uninsured or underinsured. Case closed.

  • Uh, no. Health care in Canada is NOT free. In my province, single people pay $54 a month in health insurance premiums. Couples pay about $90, families of three or more pay $108. This buys you unlimited doctor visits, hospital care and emergency treatment. Extra charges are illegal. If you are poor or a senior, you also get free drugs. Poor people can apply for free insurance.

  • Wow that A LOT!!! here in America my job pays $600 dollars and I have to pay $600 dollars a month for the basic medical health care plan and a $500 dollar co-pay. Isn't here better? Sh*t!

  • $600 a month - man, that's what I pay in a year. Do you pay the $500 co-pay every time you need treatment, or cumulatively over the year? If every time, you effectively have no insurance for checkups or preventative medicine. That's nuts.

  • It is cumulative over the year but anyways I think they are stealing my money!!

  • They cut 800$ off my dad's payment per month. Don't complain over about a $70 range.

  • KIM!!! marry me! you are the sewwtest girl in canada...OMG

  • Hey Im fed up with england.

    I heard canada was good.

Is there plenty of space for new people?

  • Americans bitch about not having free healthcare, but aren't prepared to pay for it. Gerte ready for 50% income tax when the "FREE" healthcare system comes.

  • We don't pay that in Canada, why would you?

  • ...and say goodbye to paying out of your check to medical insurance, if you're lucky to get medical insurance through work.

  • well I'm not quite apple pie but I'm redy for my free check up!

  • Where did Michael Moore get the idea for this? He went to Cuba, so is there any difference between going to Canada and going to Cuba? Can we get a dating game show called Hook a Canuck? Or how about Hook a Cuban? Actually after seeing the movie, I would like a Hook a Frenchie.

  • Hahaha!!! I love it!! how true this is...I am a canadian and I can now see that when people say God Bless American they are really wishing for health care...And a Canadian to move in with... :)

I love Being a canadian!! I think i will walk up the the emergency room for a check-up...and it's free!!

  • ummm.......is this a joke? Canada health care is terrible. MANY Canadians come to America to have major operations done because social health care is terrible. america would be even worst if it was government ran.

  • Spoken as someone who prob doesn't live in Canada. Or a shill.

"After carefully reviewing the available evidence- hard facts, not unproven assumptions- I also make the case in my report that Medicare is sustainable if we want it to be, that historically, single-payer health systems have proven to be significantly more cost-efficient than alternative approaches, and that despite the sometimes over-heated rhetoric, Canada's health outcomes remain among world's best." tinyurl . com / 2m4j6h

  • Really? My Canadian nurse friend who works in the ICU at my local hospital, flew to Canada to have her son's major operation. She understands how messed up our health care system is first hand and will never put her son under the care of the US system. My Swedish girlfriend also remarks on the lack of US care. We are the only one out of the western industrialized nations. Its time to wake up!

  • And do you speak from personal experience? Have you been treated in a Canadian hospital?

I once sprained my ankle during a trip to New York. The hospital, in a good neighborhood in Manhattan, was filthy. The staff didn't give a shit, I waited forever and was charged megabucks. Give me Canadian health care any day.

BTW, the gov't doesn't run the hospitals, only the insurance system.

  • In Canada we are not definetly not "irresponsible" its just that we, like you are busy. We go to work and we look after our families. Knowing our healthcare coverage will always be there reguardless means we have one less thing to worry about. Its a comfort factor, much like you americans and guns, you cant deny they offer comfort to those that have them. If the government keep private hands and special intrest groups away from our healthcare it offers peace of mind more then anything.

  • Most company's offer jobs with benefits and even more offer you to pay in what should be a minimal amount for health care. If you cant budget in 100 dollars a month for your personal care...cut back on the mcdonalds!

  • By the way, you didn't prove anything, but for your own well being and health (so that you dont have to own up and be a responsible adult) I will let you think that you did, so as not to put you in the hospital from stress. Establish a budget, get a good job, and be responsible and get health care!

  • By the way, I've proved you're a liar and an idiot. Last word. Done with you

  • uh hu...enjoy your ignorance sir! By the way, you don't need to thank me for paying for your welfare...enjoy!

  • If you love Canada so much, move there...they would be more than happy to take people like you! Hell they will take anyone. Leave our system to the people who like to take responsibility and enjoy self empowerment. Hell Ill book your ticket and let you stay with my friends up there!

  • Oh by the way micheal, did you ask how much tax he payed on his food, liquor, smoke, whatever he buys ON TOP OF THAT 34.2% Don't buy into every thing you hear! Get smart. Oh and as for a national police force...we do have police in the states...and a military.

  • And there's another one. kkimlin joined youtube in June ( Just when Sicko comes out. coincidence?? I think not!), another PR plant of the healthcare industry!

  • ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...yea, I am hired by the health care industry to browse You Tube and reply on Michael Moore. Thats funny! I wish that was the case.

  • Well, would you believe the World Health Organsation ( WHO)? According to WHO, the US ranks 37th in the world as far as quality of health care goes, behind every country in Western Europe, Japan, and Canada, and a few other countries as well. All of your facts are wrong, KKIMLIN. You are just being duped.

  • Canada has it right !!!!!

  • Amazing to me that people believe this shit. What they dont tell you is that the government take over 50% of your check to pay for there so called health care, They have no specialists and the are no personal physicians. Which means that your just a number. Also what they dont like to tell you, is that you have to pay for your paramedics and ambulance ride, cause the government wont cover that. Plus a lack of personal attention because your one of millions..

  • KKimlim...get your fact straight. My brother lives in Toronto and we make about the same amount of money. He pays about 34% in Income tax and I pay roughly 28%. For the additional 6% in tax he gets health care, smaller safe schools, roads and a national polive force. What am I getting for my 28%?

  • I am from Toronto you ass! Brampton Ontario to be specific. He pays well over 34% when its all said and done with. Not only that, he has no family practitioner with that supposed 34% Of course they have better roads you idiot...there are 20% of the amount of roadways compared to the US. As for schools, I will give you that. They are hands down better across the board!

  • Kkimlin, so I called my brother, we double checked his income tax and it was exactly 34.2%. So you're the dumb ass. As for the roads, Canada has 20% of the roads but 10% of the population of USA AND it is spread out across a larger area. Who is the "idiot" now? Get your fact straight before you open your pie hole.

  • There are no write offs either, go ask your brother about that. Your right 10% of the population to drive those roads. When I lived in Brampton I drove horrible roads, more potholes than I could count. So you get your facts straight moron.

  • And if you are really from Brampton, why does your profile say you're from the United States. Yep, just another abrasive lying sack of crap, Republican Conservatard.

  • Well, in case you didn't there is this thing called immigration and people from other countries can move to the U.S. As for the roads in the U.S., we have plenty of well maintained roads in the U.S. and people working on the constantly. 34.2% plus 8% of additional year end taxes you ass!

  • So that just makes you another lying sack of crap republican conservatard. You aren't a Canadian resident so your opinion is Conservatard BS. The US doesn't have a national police force you idiot. Only local and state forces. Food is about the same as the United States and he doesn't drink or smoke. You idiot conservatards and your lies are starting to backfire

  • First off you slanted halfwit, I never said that we had a national police force...you said that. We don't a national police force cause our system lets us VOTE on those sort of things. We decide where our money is alloted. Second, just cause I live in the states doesn't mean I forget what it was like to live in socialism!

  • Another American Twit made to look like the fool he is. Follow Bush and the Chickenhawks into the gates of hell. Your blind faith to a failing is really laughable at last.

  • soo... did you decide to put trillions of dollars into a war that was good for shit.. did you vote on that one. have a little votey....turn youre own country to shit. btw youre not from brampton because you have no clue how income tax works here.

  • closer to 22%, but close enough. However, the population is about 10 to one, meaning Canadians are paying about 1/2 the price per mile when compared to Americans. Additionally, Canadian roads need to be continually fixed to repair freeze/thaw damage, which is less of a problem in the US, and the road maintenance itself involves removing snow and ice from the road throughout Canadian winters to a much greater degree than the average US road. Canadians receive more for less.

  • kkimlin says: "[Canadians] have no specialists and the are no personal physicians." BULLSHIT. I have had the same family doc for years. And referrals to several specialists, whenever I have needed them.

  • Many Canadians do not even have a family doctor. Rural communities that lack GPs often do not have walk-in clinics and sometimes the hospital ER is closed on the weekend or during the week. This has been the case for a community in NS. Its increasingly common for rural ERs to be closed in some communities here that serve a wide area.

  • The shortage of family doctors is going to eventually infiltrate all Canadian communities, especially given that more doctors are going to be retiring and there are not enough young GPs to make up the shortage.

  • Searcher, why in bc are the DR's not takin on family practices. Everybody is sent to walk in clinics for a family doctor.

  • member* (typo)

  • Interesting that "burgergreaese" ( do you suppose with a name like that , he should be taking better care of himself?) has been a mamber of youtube only since "Sicko" came out. I suspect he is part of a PR campaign by the healthcare industry. By the way,

"some sick person who should have been taking better of themselves." "Person" is singular. "Themselves" is plural. You would think they could hire someone more literate, with all the money they have.

  • Socialized Medicine: Where the working people pay for everyone else's health care...not what I want to have done with my tax dollars.

You can sugar coat it all you want Michael Moore, the only thing you want it socialized life here in the United States. Once you get your dream of equality, we'll be wallowing in the squalor of mediocrity where no one aspires to be anything better than average because what's the point?

  • Anything you do extra and over the top no longer goes to you, it goes to pay for some sick person who should have been taking better of themselves.

No thank you. If its so great, why don't you just leave the country that allows you the freedoms your kind would eventually quash?

  • Yeah sure. My son was hit by a car while riding his bike, and it cost us almost $5000 for an E.R. visit where a doctor saw him for less than five minutes. I guess it happened because he "wasn't taking better care of himself".

  • Only the most ignorant people suggest that Americans "leave" rather than repair. Imagine if the Pilgrims said "let's leave this new land rather than try to make it better". I believe that this is the country that we can make anything better and that AMERICANS DON'T GIVE UP. Shame on your Un-American comment

  • i would rather die slowly the most painful of deaths than fhuck a canadian.

  • You just might do that. Canada has better healthcare then we do. Reuters May 15, 2007 U.S. healthcare expensive, inefficient: report Commonweath Fund

Americans get the poorest heath care and yet pay the most compared to five other rich countries. Germany, Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Canada rovide better care for less money.

  • The people need to stand up against the government and the corporations. The government should be afraid of the people. RISE UP!!! MAKE THEM FEAR US!

  • Please you people. The truth really hurts. Here in the US if you get sick with no insurance you will be witouth care, without a job and soon without a home. Do you think Europeans would let that happen to one of theirs. No! It is so sad that the true bottom line here is the dollar, in Europe it is caring for each other.

  • Canada is nice but I'm moving to Paris,France...much nicer.

  • Yes, and they have the best healthcare in the world --read the Commonweath Fund report--Reuters May 15, 2007 U.S. healthcare expensive, inefficient: report

  • Im very sorry for your loss. Insurance company's employment is overpopulated, and american taxes are too high. Whats up with that. War Costs aren't helping. High gas prices. President Bush wearing a rolex. Hmm...

  • i wana move to Canada... Seriously

I even checked out the immigration site and they turned me down.. shame. Even though i love the USA i hate what it has been turned into.

Male 31.. Needs medical help for Neck injury's. Mehh..

  • Canada makes the best people. I love Canadians!!!!!

  • It's not free. 36% income tax, 17% sales tax. IT'S NOT FUCKING FREE. Oh yeah...mouskakas, go fuck yourself.

  • Ha! Ha! Ha! Nice video, but living in Canada, I prefer women from Russia and Eastern Europe. Most of them aren't fat-Like most American and Canadian women are! :D

  • Come up to Canada and wait and wait and wait and perhaps be refused specialised care as I have been. The Canadian system is far from perfect. These Canadians look healthy! I have been sick since childhood and have the run around trying to get healthcare and I for one support gtronman. I get his points, because, I have severe lung disease and cannot get good specialised care in Canada.

  • Our healthcare is not free. We pay high taxes for often shoddy care. If you need Avastin try getting this med in Canada. Most provinces are not covering it. Its for colorectal cancer.

  • I think Mr. gtronman needs get up off his ass, come down to Sick Kids, help the nurses and doctors, or hold the hand of a 9 day old baby as it takes it's last breath, or console a grieving mother. I think he would feel proud that OUR tax dollars have taken care of the bill so those parents don't have to spend the rest of their lives paying debt for a child they no longer have, tho I doubt you will gtronman cause then that would yank you out of that safe little bubble your living in.

  • Is that your vision of what people should be doing: watching babies die? Is that your moral ideal: a dead baby? This is more a moral confession on your part than anything else. What would me watching an infant die accomplish exactly? Did I cause it to die? Do I support a system that is causing many needless deaths?

  • It's odd that we go from a video of bunch of smiling Canadians inviting Americans to hook up with them so they, the Americans, can take advantage of our "free" health care, to you counseling me to volunteer my time and effort to observe infants dying in a hospital. Doesn't that make you question your true motives in supporting this system?

  • There is a name for your morality; it's called altruism and what it preaches is: guilt, misery, suffering and death. I have seen enough of it, thank you very much.

  • Your welcome very much...

  • I highly doubt you know what real suffering is gtronman... like i said come down to the hospital sometime, I'd be happy to show you around...because even tho there is suffering there are alot of miracles taking place as well, miracles that are funded by you and your fellow citizens...

  • I am in favour of alleviating suffering not wallowing in it! That's exactly why I support a radically different health care system than the one we currently have.

  • I've had a few good chuckles from your input because most of them have been so incorrect that sometimes ya have to laugh. You think only people who can "save up money" should be treated. I believe medical care is a right for both rich and poor. Your only interested in saving yourself some cash in tax dollars. Those are qualities I don't find very respectable. In saying that, it has been fun, but it's becoming boring now. Take care of yourself n' your family gtronman.. til next time.

  • Ditto, though I can't say it's been very fun debating you.

  • oooo.. that's a stinger.. did ya sit up all night thinkin' of that one??

  • No, just a brief (2-3 second) reflection on your moral view that suffering is a value and should be observed for its own sake.

  • Cheers!

  • I disagree with this statement. Anyone who has watched any family member suffer including their own parents has seen real suffering. I wish gtronman well.

  • My father Died 5 years ago because of this fucking issue. HE WOULD BE ALIVE TODAY if they had allowed him to see a specialist 6 months before he finaly whent to one on his own. (They refused to pay for it) The doc told him "If we had gotten to this 6 months ago we could have done something about it"

My father.. Dead because of greedy fucking insurance companies.

  • I'm very sorry about your father, but healthcare in Canada is worse. I almost lost my mother to a severe cat bite infection here. She was very sick for 6 mons, as doctors refused to treat her. Respiratry doctors are refusing to follow me despite having a severe lung problem since childhood. If you think its better in Canada unfortunately its not.

  • lol shh, dont tell us americans, the point is to bring out the best in your country and others and point out the worse in ours ... so we can get rid of the private medical insurance companies! and really, we all know there are flaws in other countries med system

  • But if you lived in the United States, you would have a hard time getting insurance at all, because of your pre-existing respiratory condition. Most companies would refuse to cover you, or charge you $1000s per month, plus high deductibles. Private health providers avoid covering chronic care, because it costs them so much.

  • I'm not receiving specialised care now, searcherboy. My GP is a wonderful doctor and does his best, but my lungs are complicated and I really should be receiving specialised care. I'm going to the US this fall. Its expensive, but I have no choice, as I need a specialist. Although, I'd prefer to be getting my care in Canada after all my family and friends are "all here" my lungs are suffering and lungs do not wait ad I have waited and waited and receive the run around since childhood.

  • Just don't forget to stop by Sears and pick up your medical insurance before crossing into the US for your specialist work. You may end up so deep in debt otherwise that you won't be able to afford to eat and pay your other bills.

  • lots of people have to do this, go to U.S> for special health care. Now we are sending neo natal women down to the U.s. ( was in Globe) 2 weeks ago. In B.C. there is not enough family Dr.s we have to send them to walk in clinics. Alot of good B.C. Drs go down to the US by choice.

  • Umm. Please don't come and steal our healthcare. We all pay quite a bit for it in taxes here, and don't appreciate it being abused.

  • Fucking fat leaching peice of crap, we don't need any dirty American traitors stealing our money. All these worthless Canadians should just go south and rot with the rest of the scum, not waste our money on them.

  • you live in Cambodia. you dont have any money to waste.

  • spoken like a true person who has never seen the world.

  • "If you get pregnant.. get an STD.. it's all good.." LOL Not saying that he has one or anything..

  • This is disgusting. I live in one of the wealthiest regions in Canada, and we have people waiting on 1.5+ year queues for serious medical treatments (special sugeries, cancer treatment, etc.). This people are all happy BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T USED OUR GARBAGE, SOCIALIST "health care" system.

  • Then move to the US. They'll be happy to serve you there -- for a "small" amount of money, of course.

  • Do you honestly believe Canadian health care is "free"? Doctors, nurses, support staff, et al., not to mention the vast, complex array of medical equipment and supplies necessary in delivery of medical service, is all "free" in the minds of those who don't care to think about economics. Somebody is paying for all of this--it's called taxation.

  • Would you rather be taxed for health care or for a trillion dollar illegal war??

  • Moreover, the moral imperative is not on me to move, whenever I object to a government policy--especially one that is forcing me to pay for something I do not support. By that logic, Michael Moore should move to Cuba or North Korea, where everything is "free."

  • Michael Moore--a grotesque, socially manipulative propaganist--would likely be rejected health care in Canada, where the obese, like the eldery, are seen as a "drain on the system."

  • *propagandist

  • a drain on the system? excuse me?? but... unless you've been to Canada and heard a doctor say that... please don't do so yourself, don't judge Canada

  • I was born, raised and presently live in Canada. 5th generation Canadian. I will judge it as I see fit, thank you very much.

  • ahh alright fair enough:P but i'm just saying... if someone is ridiculing something without prior knowledge... then... thats kinda messed up sure our healthcare system has its flaws but its better that the poor and the wealthy get treated the same in terms of health care rather than... people going bankrupt because of the lack of funds to pay for health insurance

  • gtronman, my mom was denied treatment for a severe cat bite infection and was very ill for six months. Its was so hard to watch her suffer.

  • This happened in Canada.

  • this guy probably lives in the US...

  • Since you couldn't possibly believe I live in Canada, which I do. And you couldn't possibly believe some of my ancestors were United Empire Loyalists, who flew the U.S. revolution to Canada. Why do ascribe some false, ulterior motive to people with whom you disagree?

  • pretty easy for you to criticize something you have... if you were injured or a loved one fell suddenly ill and had to be rushed to the hospital, I doubt you'd be complaining... you sound like a spoiled brat.

  • Criticize something I have? What the fuck are you talking about? My father died under the socialist health care system we have in Canada. You are ignorant.

  • I'm a spoiled brat? You haven't a clue. The only "spoiled brats" here are the proponents of a system that forces me (and everyone else) to pay for your "free" health care, because you don't have enough confidence or self-esteem in your own abilities to save your money in case you get sick.

  • That, or you're too bloody conceited to ask for charity, if you can't afford it. So instead you vote in a government that FORCES people to pay for you. You who depend on and advocate for government funding and government control of medicine are the "spoiled brats." You, like a child, equate the purpose of government to your mummy and daddy. Grow up.

  • I would say the same about you... millions of Canadians are treated successfully everyday by our health care system. Ever heard of Sick Kidsin Toronto?? Children from all over the world are treated without having to pay. Tho I would never criticize your pain from losing your father, it sounds like you use that anger to judge something you don't truly understand. Nothing is perfect but it's better than privatized medical care.

  • No, you truly don't understand socialism -- that's what it is socialism in a given industry. And it's not better than private health care--of the type we had in Canada 70 years--it's immoral.
