@Mr1234niels1234 You don't get blinded if you use thermals during day IRL. You're thinking about image intensification (night vision), which is a completely different thing. Thermals work just fine in daylight.
the driver gunner method works a lot better in PR. its not like your fighting solo tanks. the crew has to make shared decisions on where to go and who to fuck up. you get massive satisfaction from it.
I was wondering if another feature that modern tanks have would be possible in PR: TC's turret control override. Left click (primary fire) would slew the turret to point wherever the TC is pointing with the periscope sight.
In reality the Abrams' tank commander can do the gunner's work with his own controls in case the gunner gets injured or he doesn't see the the commander's target. The T72 commander can slew the gun to the target, but cannot fire.
that would kind of go against the notion of 2man tanks, as giving the drive turret control and the gunner just being there to press shoot would seem silly.
you know i dont care what anyone else says, the lower accuracy on coax makes things better, now instead of firing 3 rounds to snipe one guy, you actually need to be effective by getting into the enfilade and use your beaten zone
Impressive, I can't wait to see it when all the texture effects are implemented.
Also Mosquill, I had a quick question, would I be wrong in supposing that very slight input is still required to keep the reticule on track, or does the stabalization incorporate distance in it's calculations so that all player movement is properly counteracted by turret rotation?
What? Distance? I don't think you have the right idea about how this works.
I'm using a mouse in joystick emulation mode, the continuous input provided by the joystick makes tracking moving targets extremely easy. It works exactly like IRL.
No, you're right, and joystick input works definitely 100% better with proper stabalization.
No, I was thinking like how the stabalization works in DCS Blackshark, where once you've lazedk the computer calculates a distance, and will turn at the rate that your helicopter so that you stay on target.
I doubted it was possible to emulate in BF2, so it's not a disadvantage anyways, and I'm not sure if tanks would use that type of stabalization IRL or if they'd require continual input like this.
"The ballistic computer manipulates the turret and a complex arrangement of mirrors so that all one has to do is keep the reticle on the target and fire to achieve a hit"
@cr9527 "so that all one has to do is KEEP THE RETICLE ON THE TARGET and fire"
That means the gunner has to track the target manually. Just like I said. The ballistic computer calculates drop and lead compensations, it doesn't track the target.
Mosquill i never introduced my self but I'm platinuma1/ nick/ cas's bitch... i love your work, only question that i have is that you were indeed using the wasd keys to control the turret?
No I was using the wasd keys to move the tank. The turret was controlled with my mouse... sort of. But it's supposed to be controlled with a joystick.
I removed the driver because it's easier to record a video that way. Adding a driver takes like 5 minutes, and everything works equally well with or without a driver.
what the version?

How do i use thermal cuz i have no idea how to do it
Fabivaca 8 months ago
woot if you would use thermal in day you get blinded so thats a little unrealitstic they should only do that with night maps if they will make them

@Mosquill ooh ok i tought this was for nights vision but you had a vid about dynamic light when will that be realized in project reality
Mr1234niels1234 9 months ago
so this will never be in PR?

@BirgirZ it already is!
you hold "T" and select night mode when you are in a tank.

@MrBoblebob Im talking about the stabalizeation

@Trexxxxer1 No, but I couldn't get stabilizers to work on dedi :(

@Mosquill so is any of this going to be added to pr or does the terms of use policy forbid it?

@Trexxxxer1 Why not? Do you hate BF2142 or something? It's a great game!

Afaik, real-life abrams can't do that, the gunner has to track the target manually.
