  • if u really love blues and country music then fork music is no stranger to u. its funny how some poeple say i love music but i cant listen to country music or what ever. if u love music then u can feel and understand it any way shape or form.

  • Great voice and WHAT a swing they bring to Americana at 4:00 , that's what I guess Charles Schulz and Uncle Pen together would do if ever alive these days...

  • superb!

  • It's been a long time since I've heard music played straight from the heart.

    ENJOY.

  • This music is refreshing to hear. A bit of history with originality, as well.

  • Cnat wait to see these folks!

  • I heard an interview with you guys on NPR recently (I'm behind on my podcasts). WOW! You guys are great.

  • Love it! You guys are great. Thanks!!!

  • Don Flemons signed my hat at a Doc Watson festival it was the best experience of my life... ever

  • what song is playing in the beginning?

  • @IcyScythe

    Short Dress Gal.

  • Whoa, these folks are great

  • They should play in LA, then maybe theyll replace hip hop with this stuff.

Seems like a fair trade for me.(A "cracker")

  • America USED to be about race. NOW it's about culture. You can CHOOSE your culture. CULTURE always accepts what's genuine. EVEN when the race is a minority in that particular culture. This is GOOD TRADITIONAL AMERICAN MUSIC. Music is about what you HEAR, not what you SEE!

  • @SKYHYLIFE That's right !!!!

  • @SKYHYLIFE this kind of music is just a mix of African folk/black gospel/blues and white bluegrass/Appalachian anyways. They're not stepping out of the mold. It used to be mostly black bands doing this kind of music.

  • @IcyScythe YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT... You MISUNDERSTOOD me. I never said they were STEPPING OUT of the MOLD. I am saying they are BREAK FROM THE NORM. This music is NOT popular in MODERN BLACK CULTURE... YET... BUT they are BLACK and POPULAR in THIS GENRE. THEY have the POWER to spark a RENAISSANCE. we agree.

  • @SKYHYLIFE They have always been black people playing folk and country. People are just ignorant. There is zydeco too.

  • @SKYHYLIFE

    bullcrap,

There is no way you can even have this music with the Crap that African Americans went through. So don't down play the creativity and originality of AFrican American music with this we are the world crap. Most of Americans music IS African American music.

What an insult most of these comments are to my ancestors.

  • If they were white nobody would be criticizing them, they'd just be enjoying the incredible music.

  • @Jemoja77 Actually, if a white band beatboxed with bad playing they would get criticised...apparently you've never heard any bad oldtime or bluegrass bands. Blues musicians gained credibility for black musicians a hundred years ago, and a majority of oldime musicians are influenced by black artists, including Dock Boggs, Roscoe Holcomb and Bill Monroe. People criticise this because it is crap

  • If they were white, nobody would give a dang...this is such phony nonsense...trapped by tradition, the guy says, heck, were Roscoe or Dock trapped? Literally nobody would care about these people if they were white. It's a form of musical reparations, and it's so sad.

  • @Khalilullah Hey man, why don't you just appreciate the music? They are great, accept that. The rest is history.

  • @Khalilullah

Hey man, why don't you just appreciate the music? They are great, accept that. The rest is history.

  • @rickdextraze Because the music is not great; people are so ignorant of the real music now, that anything with a banjo is good. This is pretentious crap . Add to that the fear of liberals to critcise black people(or the need to kiss butt on everything they do), and viola...Carolina Chocolate drops. I preferred the Tennessee Chocolate Drops, myself.

  • @Khalilullah

stay in your box and don't enjoy anything other than what you think

  • @lizgillie55 ...and you can let them tell you what to like without questioning, like a zombie.

  • 68. Best Traditional Folk Album

    讚.

  • Love em!

  • congratulations on the grammy win!!!!

  • Congratulations!

  • CONGRATS!!!!!

  • Never heard of them before until I just heard Cornbread & Butterbeans. LOVE IT!!!

  • @LOSTPRATT63 Too true! But not just American ... Humanity under one sky on one beautiful Earth!

  • there is no black music or white music or brown blue green yellow music,if you where born her or live here and make music it's american music.if you where born or are a citizen of the us, your an american not african american, european american

just an american.we need to understand we are one,one world.

  • @LOSTPRATT63

Again, thats disingenuous to the culture that suffered to create the music. I'm tired of people always trying to down play the black in anything. If its African American cultural music. Just say it. People don't have a problem saying that with European music. Or any other cultures music.

This is Apart of African American music. That exists in America.

  • @BarbaraJazz lol..whats your beef with Dom.?? im assuming thats who you're referring to.>.... did he say something offensive in the video or something??

he seems alright..im new to this band and there music but is dom cocky or somehting?

  • @dopemcee He´s ridiculous and pretentious. Just this. Rhiannon are fantastic, Justin is great too... But with this guy trying so hard to get attention, using ridiculous clothes and doing funny faces and everything else, like if he saw himself as some kind of musical genious.... it will be hard for the band to find sucess. And Rhiannon and Justin desearve it sooo much.

  • @BarbaraJazz but is this based on what?? like you keep saying it but i dont see it...so he's facial emotions equate to him being pretentious and seeing himself as some kind of genius? thats your perception though...? or atleast thats the way you interpret his actions.........

i dont see how thats the reason the band wouldnt find success....good music and promotion is how the band would find success..not because dom is weird or as you say pretentious. show me video proof of his pretentiousness

  • @dopemcee You have the right to your opinion.

And I have the right to have mine...

  • @BarbaraJazz Don't talk shit about people you don't know. I've had the pleasure of speaking to Dom on several occasions, both in person and online, and he is extremely courteous and down to earth. He is very passionate and knowledgeable when it comes to American roots music and continues to be very involved in the Black Banjo Yahoo Group, despite the success he has achieved since it was established. He also contributes at least 60 to 70% of the Chocolate Drops' sound.

  • they are great

  • What is the song they're playing @ the end? That's nice.

  • Ok, it's off my chest now! I LOVE FOLK & COUNTRY MUSIC with my soul! Wow, it speak to me in a way.....i can't explain!

  • damn - amazing

  • Chuck Norris approves. That settles it then. :b Love this band.

  • this cool. chuck norris approves.

  • God bless that we are different than we were. I love this music.

  • Last night in Chattanooga...great show with a great sound pallet, instrumental and re-envisioning variety among the three. Nice Q and A after the show as well.

  • "...are we re-enactors or interpreters? ...." To me, the Chocolate Drops are reclaimers. We all grew up learning to sing and play these folk tunes and melodies in simple schoolkid fashion. We put them away and became dutiful consumers of pop music, which is mostly the same tunes and songs processed and packaged for mass sales appeal and shelf life. Chocolate Drops reclaim the real energy and joy of these tunes. I hope they get to south Florida some day.

  • Saw them at the Cambridge Folk Festival. Was bowled over! Great stuff!

  • @uzzybaby Cambridge? Waay cool! I saw Don McLean there at the 13th Cambridge Folk Festival in 1977. I'd love to go back one day.
