I believe the real Reagan (Ron Jr.) over the fake Reagan (Michael) when it comes to what President Reagan would like or dislike.
I don't necessarily subscribe to Ron Jr's ideology or beliefs, but I do think that in private a man would open up more to his biological son vs. an adopted son.
Michael Reagan wants to be publicly accepted as Pres. Reagan's full-fledged son; a mirror image so to speak. Ron Jr. knows he's his father's son and don't feel the need to prove anything to anyone.
