yes it`s just how you are throwing it i can take a house ball and throw a hook do have to slow it down a bit so it catches but i do throw odd ball my hand is under the ball and my thumb is to the side not behind my hand
Skid, roll, hook is the common vernacular used by bowlers. Educated students of the game that understand spheroid motion are aware that the ball - hooks out, rolls out, goes straight during the balls last transition. Bowlingball(.)com is very aware of that and explains it well on their website. In order for precession to take place, that is what makes the core migrate thereby causing the axis to tilt and the ball to hook, the ball must first begin to roll. Technically: Skid-Roll-Hook-Stabilize
I currently throw a Storm Furious, which I know is supposed to be a fairly aggressive ball. This is not the case for me... The reason, however, is my fault. I can't get nearly as many revolutions on the ball as most bowlers out there.. Unless the lanes are really dry, I can't get nearly as much hook on it as other bowlers who throw the same ball. Save from buying an even more aggressive ball, what are some things I can do to get some more rotation on the ball?
@lilmanfromthehood It is indeed "skid, hook, roll."One thing to clarify though is that there is ALWAYS friction(we are not in a vacuum).Once the ball leaves ur hand,it is instantly losin energy, but @ a low rate, and is traveling only in the direction of the swing(skid phase).Once the ball finds enough friction to create TRACTION,the ball starts to change trajectory towards its rotation (hook phase). Once the forces of rotation n forward momentum average out,the ball is only rolling (roll phase).
When talking about balls for dry lanes you refer to 'Storm Tropical Storm', which set of balls do you mean?
The Tropical Heat is a great line (I have the Hybrid version and its a hell of a ball) but it can still turn a corner, which might be too much for some conditions.
Just wondering what you think of the Tropical Breeze line, what you think of it and how much difference between the two lines there is.
Cheers, and thanks for the work you guys put into these videos
@omarbollocksitch Storm used to have a line of entry level balls known as the Tropical Storm..They've since been replaced by the Tropical Heat and Tropical Breeze balls to which you are referring.
Mika Koivuniemi and Osku Palermaa are the only two Finish professional bowlers to win majors.
