  • How does the top part stay on? Sticky tape or Wat?

  • @ishy2217 - the lid stays on by sheer weight. Unless you have a lot of current in your tank, it should not be a problem.

  • i am the 60000 viewer

  • Great looking tank!

  • is it okay to leave the glue (that holds the label) on the bottle?

  • probably a good video.. i dunno couldnt stand the music

  • smart trap

  • thumbs up for this DIY ! :D

  • cool aquarium. Nice work

  • I LOVE THOSE OTOCINCLUS!

  • That guy wants allergies

  • Great video, but the music is very annoying

  • How did the shrimps get in there?

  • great tank,great advice,great shrimp and great music !

  • what are the two black things???

  • @MsZoologist1 - Otocinclus. Some people commented that they are tadpoles but they aren't. They are one of the only fish that won't eat the shrimp.

  • Wish i knew this 5 months ago, I would have used one of my cheap coke bottle traps to catch my shrimp xD

  • what is that really nice plant in the middle back looks redish and sought of like a lilly ?

  • @smarty12421 - I think they are Tiger Lotus and sold as dried out bulbs in many aquarium stores. Not all the bulbs end up germinating but when you get a healthy handful of lily plants, they will propagate smaller bulbs over your tank--not sure how since it doesn't flower but I find these little bulbs now and again, each with it's own baby lily plant. These come in green and auburn color--a great contrast from other types of aquarium plants and are super easy to grow.

  • How do you clean the tank o.O

  • why does ur aquarium has so many shrimps???

  • @bioniclegods They reproduce like rabbits!

  • @mishmosh2000 in our place instead of shrimps snails and water tick

  • May I ask why you wanted to trap all the shrimp?

  • those all real plants

  • Does it catch only the shrimps in the tank? or do you think my neon tetra's will swim into the trap too?

  • Nice idea. I'd put in a little amount of java moss for them to hold onto so they aren't burnt out and stressed by swimming around constantly.

  • @Snauly Great Idea! Thanks!

  • Man beauthiful tank and I LOVE the tunes...AWesome!

  • @urwhatthewho- Bless you!!! ...I was taking a beating on the tunes!

  • what if you acidentally catch the whole population

  • a raver reefer

  • you should get an octopus or squid

  • Fishtank?! Ima put this in my lake!

    Beautiful tank BTW!

  • Nice and simple yet it works thanks. I just added some cherry shrimps to my planted 55 gallon and hope to one day have so many that I need to remove some.

  • and 2 fish lol

  • nice tank, are you using any type of CO2 injection?

  • @scdehaseth Most definitely!

  • will my ghost shrimp kill my red cherry shrimp i'm going to buy? if o, i'll use a trap ike this to get rid of my ghosts and give them to my friend who is dying yo get some.

  • @ciciironwill27 I have the same question!!!

  • @Robbybox333 my friend did not want them, so he let me use his female betta for a week, and sure enough, they are all gone now! lol. now i have restocked with RCS, which are shy little things, but man are they pretty, even the males are 10X better the GS. much better! Good luck! :D

  • What size a tank do you think is necessary to have a reproducing population?

  • @donkeyfieldmouse I think 10 gal would be nice. I actually had a 10gal like that before I switched over to Orange-spotted sunfish in that one.

  • beautiful fishtank

  • That was crazy nice

  • No, otocinclus. They do look like tadpoles though!

  • @mishmosh2000 oh..tnx

  • what are the fat ones?..are those tadpoles?

  • No, not at all. They breed like crazy...CrAZy!!!

  • Does the co2 harm the cherries in anyway? Thanks

  • great video but that damn etard music makes me want to take those scissors and shove them into my ear canal. why does everyone have to have music on their videos? its a diy vid just leave the music out so we can hear you better or at least not use techno, especially when its loud like that. another good idea would be to caption everything you say so we are not forced to hear it. personally id rather just hear you speaking though

  • Beautiful tank! What kind of filtration system do you need for Red Cherry Shrimp? I have a Aqua Clear filter and although I do not see any shrimp bodies in there when I clean it (I have a net on it to prevent sucking in guppy babies) I do not see many shrimp. I have a 10 gallon heavily planted tank with guppies and a cory catfish, added 20 RCS about a month ago and only see two. Do RCS need a filter in there tank or any ariation?

  • Hey thanks. Until they start to breed, you probably won't see them that much because they like to hide. Make sure you have a foam filter sponge on your aquaclear intake! You do not need aeration and almost any filter is adequate. Hopefully, your tank is fully cycled because their tolerance for bad water chemistry is low. Also, hopefully temps for you don't get too high.

  • dude, this is one of the best aquariums(planted tanks) i have ever seen in my life!

daymn! you have done a lot of hardwork in here!

its so much beautiful that i feel of getting one like this straight in seconds!

p.s can you please please PLEASE guide me about that " yeast of c02 " thingy :S i never understand that stuff!

    I have a 4ft X 2ft X 2ft (aproxx 50-55 galon) tank.

    full of cichlids,parrot,commando,zebras etc..

i was wondering if you could help me out ... ;(

will soon post my vid too :D

  • Thanks dude! DIY CO2 is from yeast mixed with sugar water in a 2L plastic bottle. You still need some way to get the co2 diffused. Some put it in the canister filter intake or a ceramic diffuser. While cheap to get going, yeast CO2 in the long run is a lot of work, and may end up costing you more. I would get pressurized CO2. It is expensive to start with, but refills are cheap! Sounds like your have a good tank to do a lot of stuff in.

  • thanx dude :)

can you tell me abt how much does tah c02 reactor costs?

  • aquamedics am1000 is $70. I know people who make their own PVC reactors though.

  • @zainkam1 - with the cichlids you have a planted tank is a bad bad idea. save yourself the frustration and buy fake plants if you plan on keeping those fish in there. most cichlids dig and are just too rough on gravel and plants. just put some fake plants in there and see how long it takes for them to be drifting along the bottom of the tank

  • Oh, it's good. So many shrimps.

  • i would love to have your tank tanks like this with shrimp mabe some rams eels like peacocks and everything would be awesom perfect breeding ground for everything i just started my 10 gallon into a planted and its only been bout a half week but its alright i would eventually make my 55 and 90gallon like your tank one day :) beautiful tank

p.s. what kinda plants u got going in there?

  • Thanks. You will love planted tanks. You can do a lot more with a larger tank but even your 10 gallon can be great. My tank is different now but in this one, I had amazon sword, scarlet temple, glosstigma, HM, Java fern, lily pad apogenten, anubias, and a couple of others.

  • yea i cant wait till all my plants start growing thnkx for the reply u should make a vid just showning off ur tank

  • Stunning tank, great trap for shrimp going to get some cherries soon.

  • perfect shrimp hunting music...

  • Wow. Thanks for the confidence boost. I guess my shrimp are not so dumb after all. I'm going to try to get the last 3 tomorrow. I don't dare to leave it in overnight since it's a shrimp only tank with a sponge filter I'm afraid the water in the trap will become toxic.

  • I've been trying all day to catch 2 amanos and 7 red cherries. Mine are either smarter than yours or dumber. Only been able to get about 1 shrimp per hour. Baited with shrimp pellets and algae wafers..

  • the capture is not 100%...not even close. I probably have 200+ shrimp in my tank and get only about 75 by leaving the trap in overnight. BTW, leaving the trap in overnight did not appear to be problematic.

  • thanks man! We have some Dark Red Crayfish in the river near our house (which for some reason these Cray fish are faster then Others) but I placed the bottle in the river, went back to my house for about 5 hours and 30 min. And Came back with 6 Adult Red Crayfish, 3 Babies, and 1 Female. I kept 1 Male and 1 Female for breeding and now I have them running around my beautiful 10G Tank :) They haven't fought since their male + female.

  • Nice job!!! I love Crayfish! I would never have thought this trap would work for them in the wild.

  • Thats a lovely tank. Great trap.

  • Thanks for this. I'm always afraid that my shrimp will get injured in a net.

  • how do you get your shrimp to reproduce ?? please help thank you.

  • I don't do anything...they just do it! Just make sure there are no predators and they are not stressed. Of course, you need males and females.

  • Thank you.

    Nice trap by the way.

  • What kind of shrimp are those?

  • Red cherry shrimp

  • errrr, how did u get shrimp in there anyway?

  • That's cool. I wish i could get those to breed in one of my tanks. So why would you want to catch them?

  • They breed like rabbits. I periodically put some in my rockbass/bluegill tank and also my orange-spotted sunfish tank.

  • I see. I also have had a sunfish for about two years, what do you feed yours because mine has grown too big for the small food I gave. However, It does not seem to like anything else. Any ideas on how to switch foods?

  • I feed my sunfish Tetra freeze-dried jumbo krill, ripped up pieces of shrimp, and occasionally some garden worms and insects. My bluegill is not very picky.

  • what fishes are those in there?

  • otocinclus.

  • Well it worked for catching them... I caught at least 30 cherries in minutes (didn't feed the day before, so the trap was a shrimp magnet!) but it also worked for catching ancistrus, Amanos & my betta. Hmmmm...

  • What do you use as your micro nutrients fertelizer? I have CSM+B now but that is 0.10% copper. Seachems Trace has only 0.0001% copper, would that be safe?

  • I do use CSM+B but I only dose once after a water change. Sounds like Seachem Trace would be better. Way to do your research!

  • someone mentioned this as a makeshift temporary fry catcher to protect the fry from getting eaten by the bigger fish. Does it work for this?

  • I wouldn't think so.

  • love the plants in your tank

  • You got tadpoles as well? Wow

  • Nah... Otocinclus

  • i love otos!!!!!!!

  • What up!!!

  • aren't they awesome?

  • Yup. Wouldn't mind a whole tank with just otos!

  • Nice music! ;-)

Just a tip: open 4 or 5 very small holes in the bottom, it will help for water circulation.

  • great ,but the techno music nervs me alot

  • what's up with the techno music in the background the whole time??? it suxxx major ballz

  • It's actually "happy hardcore". But I agree, it is distracting. Live and learn... Thanks for the honesty!

  • yeah, but i have tosay the vid is pretty cool. And nice tip, i'm going to use it with my shrimps in the near future. thanks

  • This design works great, it also works for trapping snails!

  • excellent tip, amazing!!!

  • You have an amazing planted tank! Great tip too =D

  • GREAT this is just the solution I need.

Is that more or less shimps then you were expecting? Just wondering if they breed.

  • How many shrimp you get at one time depends on how long, what food used, etc.

The red cherry shrimp breed quite often and are great for the beginner.

  • Sorry mate I meant how any shrimp have you put in the tank and do you have more or less then when you started? Like I put 5 guppies in my tank and I now have about 20.

  • I started out with about 10 shrimp. There is over one hundred in the tank and I periodically take some out. Funny, I never had good success with guppies.

  • A nice simple way of catching shrimp. I have some Amano shrimp and they're a nightmare to catch- even for the shop keepers!

  • why is there tadpole in your aquarium??

  • I have a few otocinclus in there--they kind of look like tadpoles I guess.

  • that's awesome,,. =)

  • awsome shrimps :p

    what song is it?

  • You're not part of the copyright police are you?

anyways... Eclipse 24-7 (Breeze & Styles remix)

  • copyright police lol?

  • do you know the estimated time from when the mother has eggs to when she gives birth? I have 2 females and one male I just bought and put in a 40G tank and I'm wondering when the babies will come :D

  • I would say, once you see eggs, it takes about 2-3 weeks. I started out with 5 or so and have well over 150 in this tank and also a 10 gallon.

  • sounds good. A 10 gallon you say? Thats pretty good. I have a 12G nano cube that has no fish but a lot of plants. Once I clean it out and get the PH levels right, I think I'm going to setup a shrimp breeding ground.

The store sells these shrimp for $4 each which is expensive! I want to see if they will purchase some back if I make babies lol

  • Those nano cubes are perfect! Good luck!

  • what song is this?

    and

    how do you breed stuff?

  • As long as you have males/females and favorable conditions, they will breed easily and abundantly. By "favorable", I mean no predatory fish, clean water, food, etc.

  • nice tank,lovely music,great trap!!! :)

  • Very kind words...you rock!

  • i love the musix!!

  • Bless you!!!

  • nice tank! :D

  • Nice one i just how can catch my Shrimp

  • Thanks. I am still waiting for someone to say they like the music though...

  • Yeah, change that music.

  • thanks for the great trap tipp! but a little shitty music in the back! greets

  • Hikari algae wafers are readily accepted but really they will eat almost anything. Many products have copper sulfate as an ingredient which you do not want. With a a heavily planted tank and some algae, you do not necessarily even need to supplement them with food.

  • it works so please try it out i did and it works so subscribe thats what i did.

  • does it work cause im going to try it

  • ...oh, it works all right!

  • i loke that tank

  • Nicely
