They just HAD to introduce Lancelot being all smitten with Guinevere, but that's alright I LOVED it. Especially that scene where he and Arthur are sitting together and Arthur asks if Lancelot thinks 'she' is beautiful (talking about Morgana) and Lancelot assumes they are talking about Gwen & says "Yes Sire, I do."

As long as they don't reintroduce him to make an overly angsty love triangle I'm fine with it.

The last scene with Merlin/Lance and the Griffin was really exciting too!

it's generally THE story of Camelot- Guineviere marries Arthur, who's usually a few years older, and meets Lancelot, already Arthur's bff, after that and falls in love with him. whoops. they love Arthur, but each other more, give in eventually, Camelot falls... EXCEPT the latest King Arthur movie ignored that. And Spamalot ignored that (well, duh, Spamalot). So odds are they're using the original myth and adaptations as more like guidelines. very loose guidelines.

The old Welsh-style Merlin (or Myrddin, as we was originally known)would have been better; a wild man of the forest who wouldn't have been frightened to do a spell just because Giles from fucking Buffy said so. Michelle Ryan is hot, so that's a plus.

Has anyone else realised? In Arthurian Legend, Nimueh was the name of "The Lady of The Lake". She's an ally of Merlin who eventually gives Arthur the sword Excalibur.

(In the opening credits, you see a sword under water... or at the bottom of a lake. If that's Excalibur, then I can see a plot twist developing here. Maybe Nimueh isn't so evil after all...)

Yes, Nimueh does give Arthur Excalibur - but according to Arthurian legend, she is also the one to raise Lancelot as well as enchant Merlin to steal his powers and trap him. I definitely think there's a subplot developing here - I hope she becomes more the contradictory character of legend rather than some stereotypical witch.

I've given up on Merlin. I was so excited when the previews were showing but this series is a complete and utter travesty. It's not the fact that they havnt stuck to the original myth its the fact that none of it is believable. The CGI effects are something out of the 90's. They are in medieval England and they are calling eachother a "pratt". The acting is actually good though but come on you cant just throw will mellor and zoe from eastenders into it and hope it works. I'll stick to xfactor.

Not sure what you mean by "original myth". That would rule out, say, Tennyson, or TS White's interpretation.

They could use sub-Shakespearean dialogue or something but that grates really quickly on the ear.

And how do you know that pratt isn't that old ... there were insults in medieval ages lol !!! It's not always the knightly speechs with huge tirades and all ... It's like our days ... people who speaks with a very good language and others with english that we can barely understand :x
