I miss the good ol' days! The days when trash was simply trash. You didn't have to sort it, recycle it, WASH it, or anything else it, but throw it in the can. These days you need a PhD in garbology not to be considered a litterbug. :-/
Not Me was a transparent character who sometimes caused trouble but got away with it because the adults didn't understand. I remember one comic strip where the woman asks who highlighted her list, and all the kids say "Not Me", and not because they were denying having done it themselves.
Another user said Mr. Hooper was blaming Not Me, and I just responded that I knew what they meant.
This was one of the VERY first clips that I watched on YouTube back in March or April 2006. I'm not sure which one was the actual first clip I saw, but this was one of them.
And ironically, there's a "dumpster" right there behind them, but I'm sure Ernie and Bert wouldn't want to see garbage outside their window (even though from inside all they can see is nothing by sky for whatever reason, lol).

How do we keep the streets clean in the first place? Hire more city workers and raise our taxes!

When I take a garbage bag to the dumpster, if the bag tears I just leave all the trash and mess right on the sidewalk. So I made a mess, no big deal.

I loved Mr Hooper...

People are far worse in littering and they do not even care nowadays. It makes me want to pick it up and throw it in their own front lawn.

1:39 Why not just put it all in Oscar's Trash can? He loves Trash right?

@ExplorerDS6789 Well, it sure is nice to see you doing something other than trolling the internet with your anti-Alan Alda propaganda for a change.

Mr. Hooper blamed Not Me from the Family Circus cartoon.

Hey, I remember that one.

@Garrettk41
I remember this one too. It is probably from the early seventies.

@Smartboy8877 Right, but I was referring to Not Me from the Family Circus.

I have heard of the Family Circus, but I am not sure what it has to do with this sketch. Care to explain?

This teaches a good lesson: that even little bits of trash make a big mess.

That's a fluke I can't imagine went by them. Especially int he 1990 bits where they have trees outside their window.

I remember someone from MC telling me they remember once seeing rooftops and antanneas outside their window.
