Brilliant, spirited, and sooo friggin original. Yep, that's Jon. He's got great ideas, and sets em down where he can. I miss the old Largo, tho the new one is more...umm...grown up? Peace, out, s
Oh, thank you for reminding me of my shameful lifestyle, whatever you think that may be. I shall now retreat into my cave (purchased with my so-called "vast sums of money"), never venturing to witness any form of musical performance for as many days as I am so humbly granted.
Is this guy a genius or what, Literally a one man band. A musical wizard and the guy just doesnt play any instrument he knows it in and out. His compositions always leave me speechless (How can one man be so good at anything he touches)
I have paid fantastic sums of money to see his live show. Specifically, his New Year's Eve show in Chicago last year. Traveled hundreds of miles and put myself up in the cheapest hotel on the Loop. Froze my ass off walking a mile between the hotel and venue during a cold front.
I saw Jon Brion live at Largo a few years ago...and I got in with my sister's ID 'cause I wasn't 21. hehe! OMG the show was great! I really hadn't heard of him before that, and I was thinking to myself "my gosh, how come nobody told me about this guy before?" He's amazing!!!
Because this is one song in an entire set that averages about an hour and a half. I can understand the daftness of requiring a whole band, but what Jon does here is special and visionary. A band of randomized musicians usually mosey onto stage with him throughout the night. Jon playing by himself is 'better' because it best represents the vision he has for his work. How do you multi-task?

In hindsight, I wouldn't have changed a thing. ;]

Ummm... why is this better than having a band playing the song?
