nice job; you only blurred a few snare rythyms in the middle of the song, but whoopie do. Much better than I can do. I enjoy your videos; they help me figure out what the heck the drum parts actually are :-)
So much game, man! I hereby announce that I'm impressed "4 times" so I can cancel out the three nutty people rude enough to click to "dislike" button on this. I've seen a bunch of your videos and they're awesome. I like Queensryche in addition to Rush as well so I liked that too. I can see the countless hours of learning and effort in this and applaud that. If you ever make it to LA, we should connect and have a mammoth Rush jam! Greatness, man.

My mistake, sorry mate! just seems so small compared to the rest of the kit. No matter anyway.I come and watch you play rather than listening to the originals. Praise enough I think..:)
It's a puzzle really. I shouldn't be attempting to play Rush, but its the only thing I really want to play.So I watch your videos in the hope of improving my own skills and it does help, thank you!
Great Job!! This is one of my favorites as well... it was this song that forced me to move my cowbells over my hi-hat... the reach is almost impossible in this song!!
Absolutely amazing! Perfect timing, perfect notes, perfect dynamics....You even sing "sometimes" just like Neil does! The only thing REMOTELY wrong with this is the second part of the solo (3:20 - 3:43); Neil actually turns his snares off for that whole section and then turns them back on again for the crescendo. I think the tom pattern at the beginning is slightly different too. But seriously, I think you could play this on stage with Lee and Lifeson themselves, and NOBODY would complain.
Just finished my quesadilla and figured I'd chillax a bit and watch all your videos for the umpteenth time. You're truly a master behing that killer drumkit!
Man, another GREAT song! I really appreciate you doing these videos....it helps me learn more Rush Songs...anytime I hear something and can't figure out what Neil did, I just watch your video's and it shows me a new routine! Great Job!! Thanks again.
You have to play professionally. You are OutF&%kingstanding. I've watched almost all of your videos. You are Flawless.I've been playing drums on and off for roughly 38 years and i'm not even on the same planet as you. What other influences do you have? I've been influenced by Larry Mullen Jr, Cindy Blackman, Steve Gadd..Just to name a few.
@slockyboy Thank you! I have many many other influences. Bonham, Bruford, Collins, Zonder, Portnoy, Bellson, Rockenfield, Krupa, Copeland, etc. etc. Neil remains my favorite but I enjoy the works of hundreds of drummers.
Awesome.....You nailed it perfectly at my 2 favorite parts....3:22 and 3:35. I can only hope Neil happens to hear you. You are a true talent. Keep it up my friend.
Awsome job. It´s a true relief to see that there´s still some people out there that knows that true music comes with hard study and effort. You´re an example to be followed. Keep up with the hard work! Cheers from Brazil!
Wow, I have been playing drums for 20 years and Rush is one of my favorite bands. Neil Peart is the God of Drums. Your skill is truly amazing. I'm sitting here watching all your videos and can't believe how awesome you are. You were born with this talent and are using it, how cool is that ! This is what you were meant to do. You got the talent to become famous. Try to find musicians that can hang with your skill and go for it. The sky is the limit for you. Good Luck :)
I've loved Rush for 25 years. The Big Money is my favorite song, and this video brings tears to my eyes. Props to your dedication and talent, It's really great to have that focus on the drums as it's not often one gets to see that either in concert or on video. I appreciate all your videos. Thank You.
Wow..didn't notice the Roland drums behind you in the last video...cool I have a TDW20 set...haven't played my Pearl's in a while.. GREAT job on these tunes man...WOW>>
Holly Fuck you are amazing. I give you 100% credit dude. You really do play like Neil. I must say. I like the fact that u have an Identical Kit. Thats great. Keep it up. Im the same way. I have the same drum set as the drummer of REO Speedwagon. Bryan Hitt
i like watching your videos because i can actually see what neil's doing on the drums the music videos they do dont actually isolate him so you dont know sometimes what he's done. great job again. your timing skills are awesome.thanks.
I've commented on multiple videos of yours...again, well done! I tried doing some Rush on a Roland V-drums set (don't know which) and it was less than satisfying...I just would LOVE to play on an acoustic set like you can, but my neighbors would have my hide!
So...your description says "several mistakes"....shit, man...if this is a bad as it gets, I can't wait to see what happens when you don't make a mistake!...Beautiful work, my friend...I have been a RUSH fan since the 70's....and a drummer for just about as long...(and a very amatuer astronomer, as well).but I have yet to see anyone cover 'em like you do! Keep rockin' e'm out, man!
Thanks! They are all Sabian Paragon. It's a special set, and only 30 were sold worldwide a few years ago to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the 2112 album. The cymbals were all made together and sonically adjusted as a set.
So that's what the Paragon's sound like! Yeah. They sound amazing but each cymbal is super expensive! I'm only 15 with and I have a job but it's gonna take me a really long time to get a set like that. :P. I really want to get a Ludwig set with like, two floor toms, one rack tom, a bass drum, a ride, three crashes, a splash, a hi hat and a few cow bells if nessesary. Keep rockin' my friend. :)
Yeah... Sabian cymbals are made in Canada (not far from my hometown in fact!) and the Canadian dollar went way up compared to the US dollar in the past year. So, the cost of their cymbals went way up too. I paid $2112 for the set and it came with 2 DVDs, one signed by Neil. Now a smaller set (only 1 10" splash instead of 2) and no DVD is closed to 3000 bucks. Yikes.
Oh wow! I was just down at the music shop by my house and saw a B8 Sabian Thin Crash for like $76 bucks! I think that's pretty good and I get paid on Thursday so maybe I'll get that. :) What do you think? Should I get it?
Ahaha. Thanks man. Oh and by the way. Your videos are amazing, especially this one! Every time I see your vid's it inspires me to make my own covers but I never get to it. If I do, I'll send it to you to see what ya think. ;)
I was about to say only about 2 grand is a killer deal, lol at the $2112 nice :P Personally I just like a crashable Ride, Crash, Hats, and 1 effects cymbal depending what I feel like, like either Stacker/China/Splash.
I am a young starting drummer looking at different styles and im attempting to understand what kind of drummer i wish to be. I look at your great ommage you pay to the great band of Rush and now know the drummer I wish to potray. You are a great skilled drummer with lots of talent and time on the drums. You are great and I appreciate your dedication to the drumming community. Keep going!
Thank you! I'm glad I could help! I'd recommend though that you find a good teacher; you could learn good drumming fundamentals. I never did and I would be a much better drummer if I had really studied the instrument in a formal way. Anyway, good luck!
I gave you 5 stars. if you're not completely happy with your performance here, then keep in mind neil had a completely different set up when they recorded big money... even when he played your setup on rush in rio and you see him playing the parts, his cowbells are to the left above his high hat making it much easier to reach. I think you did a good job of keeping it old school neil.
Man I love your videos but why do you use the LAME ass DW set up? You are playin Tama son...show some respect and play them set up like Neil did and show them some respect!
astrotama should block your sorry ass for that comment... if anyone needs to show respect it's you .... look in the mirror and act a little older than 14
Nice work despite what you called mistakes, but watching at you performing the music we love is always GREAT! I know your list of songs to play is long, but I also know "Vital Signs" and "The enemy within" would be a great additions to your repertoire. By the way... how the AZ weather treating you folks this summer?
Yes, it was... and I had to play the song over and over again until I got a take that I was happy with. I kept messing up at a few places. This take is not perfect by any means but that's all my arms could deliver at that point! ;)
So far, so good. :) In Hawaii, we lived in the same house for 11 years and we had close neighbors; they never complained. In fact, some of them like the playing quite a bit. ;) I always warned them in advance and never played very late. Now, in Arizona, we bought a house which is quite soundproofed and far from the neighbors. We still warned them that my wife and I are both musicians and Iwenever play past like 10pm or so. No complains yet..... ;)
But I have my own favorites... Either a good performance or just happy of nailing a difficult fill, etc. "Between the Wheels", "The Camera Eye", "Earthshine" , the new "Far Cry" and "Natural Science" are some of my favorites.
I moved from Hawaii to Arizona and I was without a drumset for about 8 months. Just got back into it, although I did "Far Cry" again a few back. Check it out!
Where ya been? I was wondering if you'd stopped! Maybe just me LOL, but nice to see you're still working the covers for Neil...you need a cover band to play with.
Exceptional playing, that one takes a lot of stamina. You've really got Neil's licks down. I've been playing Rush songs for years and the little nuances are so hard to get jus right and you nail it every time. Would love to see more!
Dude! This is most awesome. I salute you! Nicely done indeed.

@schirmmutze No, the bass drum is a standard 22" (18" deep). It looks small because there is just too much junk around it. ;)

I moved from Hawaii to Arizona and I was without a drumset for about 8 months. Just got back into it, although I did "Far Cry" again a few back. Check it out!

Where ya been? I was wondering if you'd stopped! Maybe just me LOL, but nice to see you're still working the covers for Neil...you need a cover band to play with.

very nice work.

Exceptional playing, that one takes a lot of stamina. You've really got Neil's licks down. I've been playing Rush songs for years and the little nuances are so hard to get jus right and you nail it every time. Would love to see more!

The sound and picture quality are a lot better. And the drumming remains awesome as predicted
