  • Song ? :C

  • I used a program called leatrix that does this for you. It definitely works. it dropped my average ping by about 20ms from 70 to 50, in l4d2, and from 30s down to teens for TF2

  • Not much difference from average 65 to 57 smth like that

  • i love you from 150ms to 17ms !!!!!!!!! thx

  • It won't let me make a new Dword file, there's a pop up that says Cannot create value. Error writing to the registry. How do i fix that D:

  • @aishitelu if you have vista or 7 go to start search type regedit right click on it and run it as administrator

and try again if you use xp you have to go to c windows and system or system32 and find regedit and right click it and run it as administrator

  • This made my ping go up. -.-

  • @ImBoredAsHellAtm mine too, made my lagg like shit .. guess it only works when you have a problem :P

  • To make this work if u have MULT[IPLE folders with dhcp or whatever, put it in each of them. that is what i did with my 3 folders. works perfectly.

  • In my interfaces there are six other folders and all that have DhcpIPadress how do i know which one?

  • Does this work????

  • This actually worked I was really surprised..

I live in israel and my ping range was 200-400 which really sucks..

but now my ping dropped to 100-120 I cant believe it

could u please explain how it works in detail?

    how it affects the ping?

  • but i have my ip in 3 folders what do i do?

  • @jokukukuu he says improve, not increase. improve does not necessarily mean increase, right? :D

  • does it have any side effects?

  • This shit screw up my internet connection!!! It wasnt very fast but still it was about 400 KB/s but now it is about 2.6 kb/s ... i have tryed everything to change it back but nothing works!! if any1 has solved this problen plzz HELP ME!!!!

  • @kristapssk8erboy i think y have linux or am i wrong ? :) no offence

  • @jokukukuu It says improve in the drop down bar not increase. That's what it should say.

  • too bad that the file u asked us to search for DhcpIPAddress is almost in all the folders inside Interfaces, and each one have different ipaddress.. u must be more accurate

  • is this case sensitive?!

  • its TcpAckfrequency

    with f not F

  • i got more than just 1 DhcplIPAdress..

  • I have a question:

in the interfaces part, I have more then one DhcpIPAdress, located in two different folders. In which one I must create the TcpAckFrequency?

  • hi how can i do this with win7?

the interfaces directories are differents which is the right one?

    bye

  • It actually ruined my connection, I had a ping of 15-30( I thought it will decrease the ping even more.) and now I have 30-150+ and a lot of spikes and weird laggs. I hate it, I tried to change it back to 0 , and even deleting it. nothing helps. I don't recommend this shit. this is aweful, if you have a ping of 200-300 get a better connection or try a closer server to you, if you don't have any hosts in your area better switch to another game. playing with laggs is a nightmare of any gamer.

  • @Retoon41 Btw. I can't fix it , to have my last condition - which was good. (30ms - 4jitter) and now on the same server it's 50ms and 45ms jitter) this ruined my internet and I can't even fix it back, it's like a nuclear bomb in your network card.

    Don't try this at home.

and if anyone have an idea how to fix this*(I tried, deleting it,changing to "0",asking my ISP,looking at google, installing a new copy of windows 7,changing modem, checking the connections. ___PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT IT___

  • Worked great, 125 to 25, thanks

  • @StKildaFan1 Only in the one which does not give you 0.0.0.0

  • @jokukukuu Hence the difference between ''Increase'' and ''Improve''. L2Read.

  • Setting the TcpAckFrequency may improve your apparent "ping" but will not improve your actual network speed. If anything, it may make it worse by increasing the number of actual packets being transmitted by your machine for the same amount of data.

  • @inswoon ive noticed a very big difference in my connection sense that happened.... yoou should try it before you star throwing out your ignorant opinion.

  • @SleepingSyn Score, PWNAGE.

  • @SleepingSyn Firstly, I didn't throw an opinion, my comment consists of nothing more than facts. Secondly, I had tried it, it doesn't effect the connect between you and the realm, it simply changes the ms. If you cannot fathom the basic principles of an internet connection, maybe you shouldn't make videos about them.

Next time, before you make a wrongly presumed judgemental accusation, attempt to form a proper sentence.

  • i got like 3x dhcpipadresses files in 3 different folders

I bet I am going to have to add a tcpackfreq thingy to each of the ones in use right?

  • is it ok if i use Qword because im using 64bit and Qword is for 64bit ...?

  • Thanks for this btw, i did this according to your video like a half year ago and it really helped me. My wow latency decreased from ~200 to ~60

  • Registry editing always makes me nervous, so I hesitate to do anything when I don't understand what's going on. I have TWO incidences of DhcpIPAddress in two different subfolders under the path specified in the video. Any tips on what causes this, if I need to do something to 'fix' it, and/or which one I should add the TcpAckFrequency to?

  • why is it that when i am doing this trick 3 of my folders have dhcpIPaddress does that mean i put a seperate entry in each folder?

  • I have a question. What are the downsides to this? Can your internet connection actually break down because of this?

  • does it work on windows 7 ultimate 62bit cause i can choose between Qword(62bit) and Dword(32bit) ... is it done the same way or do i have to use QWORD ??

  • Think about the name and value. The default value is 2 meaning your TCP ACK frequency (the amount of ACK packets your computer waits for before sending them back) is 2. Changing it to 1 means you send back each ACK packet as you get it, improving communication with slow servers, mainly large (Worldwide) MMORPG games. This is also why it slightly slows download speeds- download servers are fast so sending back packets faster will slow your own connection.

  • Works great from 110 to 4-9 ms!!

  • i'm playing rakion i got still200 mss150 ms...-.- srry 1 rate your video is hopeless

  • got sum 200's to 48, thanks

  • wats with the TCPAllowedPorts? id otn have that, n adding the tcpackfrequency didnt do anything

  • Lol at all people saying this is fake and gay..

This setting exsists in all servers, ex. Windows Server 2008.

  • HELP!: I kinda got 2 files in the Interface file that have DhicIpAdress thing, but some of the other minor files have diff numbers, n im not really sure which 1 to add the TcpAckFrequency to :0

  • CaN YOU REMOVE THIS?

  • @microsoftx1

Sure, I think you can just do right click on the file you made, and then press Delete.

And if that's not possible, change the value to 0, instead of 1.

    1 activates, 0 is deactivate.

  • @nookiejj This isn't an activate-deactivate setting, the default number is 2 so changing the binary value to 2 would bring windows back to what it was.

You should clarify - this doesn't improve latency in all online games (especially new ones). It was specifically made for WoW (which is still one of the only games it works for) because of the low quality network engine. Any game that uses UDP this will have no effect on.

  • @nookiejj Changing the value to 0 actually sets the value back to the default value of 2.

  • @microsoftx1 Yes. make sure you change the value to 0 then delete it.

  • Is this possible on Vista?

  • @haiiix3 Yes, I just did it on windows 7 so it should be completely possible with windows vista

  • 422 to 48, THANKS!

  • 93 to 42 for Windows 7 x86

  • just google tcpackfrequency and you can see what changing the value ACTUALLY does. Setting the TcpAckFrequency may improve your APPERENT ping but will not improve your actual network speed.

  • It improves the apparent ping and it also improves your delay in the game, meaning faster response time. How does it do this? Use google and you can easily find out the mechanics behind it. Your large-file download speeds will decrease slightly, but quick packet programs such as gaming will be faster.

  • Nice it worked, Ping down from 250 to 50 in WoW

  • For me 200ms back to 20 ms in Windows 7 x64. So yes it works in Windows 7 as well (before used Vista)

  • Haha, thank you so much! My latency lowers about 167 to 57. :)

  • this tutorial is half ass theres better

    videos that lower more latency

  • Well ye, if u would check the date it has been posted... you understand why it isn't at it's fullest improvement anymore.

  • sir, iam sorry for the negative comment. but i need your opinion

    which one is the best?

i think its the one from house hold hacker

    am i correct?

  • No need for calling me sir.. haha ^^

But hey, I'm not really into this trick or anything and don't know that much about computers when it comes to stuff like this. But I think you can be correct about HouseHoldHackers has a better one. This is just an easy to-do trick for the not so advanced computer-users. However, I have read that lots of 'latency-impoirvers' have been integrated in official Microsoft updates.

  • does this work if I'm running windows 7 on 64 bit? or do i choose 64 bit instead of 32 bit?

  • can anyone answer this?

  • really?

can you tell me what microsfot updates do so?

  • Microsoft updates comes automatically. You do not manually update your pc, Microsoft does it himself.

  • okay ty.

  • i need you to tell me which method for reducing online latency works the best?

  • is this only for cable? cause i'm on dsl and don't have the dhcpipaddress key

  • From 200 to 60 in world of warcraft

    Thanks you =)

  • took my ping to 170

    thanks alot.

  • Took my ping from 420-190

    Thanks so much.

  • Don't work for rainbow six vegas 2

  • i tried the 64-bit version for guild wars and it made no difference whatsoever. same 78-250 average pings as usual.

    waste of time!

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH :D

  • When i made mine go higher, like 5 my latency got better then 1 did. Is it just because my computer is diffrent or something.

  • Thanks for posting :)

  • Comment removed

  • Why would you want to increase your latency?

    :P

  • Not working for me!!

  • Check the date of the video. There is being said that they have impented this 'trick' in SP3. However, it's not like u notice very much, it's the small things that does the thing. What game were u playing and testing?

  • mmm ... i play counter strike!! would this even work for my server?? i mean if i host a server and do this TcpAck thing.. thn my server would have lower latency?

  • another guide told me to change the decimal calue to one,do i change hexadecimal instead?

  • I dunno.. don't understand your question either.

In this video it's just the normal way.

  • That doesn't matter, decimal 1 is equal to hexadecimal 1 anyway.

  • Yup it works but unfortunatly I have Home edition. Its still possible on Home if you install messagequeuing but leaves a huge security risk...

  • But it recommends that you have the System "Message Queuing" (old name MSQM) installed.

But you can use this system only with XP Professionals or Vista, not XP Home :(

  • is this true?

  • Yes, you can look up you "Software"->"Add and Remove windows components"->"Message Queuing"

Only XP-Prof and Vista lists this component, XP_Home does not :(

  • How does this work?

  • Hm.. I don't know. Maybe follow the video..

Or if you mean, how can this work, well, it lets you reach or allow more internet ports at the same time. So that's more upload or download traffic at once.

  • Hmm... so does this mean that some internet ports deny access?

  • Ye sort of. It's like tuning up your scooter.

Things can always be better, just needs some work.

  • Cool. Thx for info.

  • lol thats not how it works. Google it.

  • What if it shows dhcpIpaddress's

  • Works perfectly, had ~200ms on wow now i am in the range 100-50

  • This got rid of my constant high pings, however now I will get huge random lag spikes that go up into the thousands.

  • Ive heard a lot of people using this method get those, its weird, ive never had one yet.. i say that now :P lol. Maybe your just unlucky ? :P

  • What if I set it to 2?

  • carefull with regedit if you dont know what your doing you could kill windows /etc

  • Yep true, however thousands of people are using this method already no problems.

But if you do notice problems, it's safe to delete the file you made.

What you also can do, is reset your comp a time before you made the file.

However, no errors has been detected using this method. So untill now, safe to use.
