Meghan, I'm a transwoman, former school teacher, single parent and been discriminated against in both employment and healthcare. I'm sure your intentions for affecting change from within HRC are honorable, but I'm very much against you attending and speaking at their fundraiser. Transpeople being there gave them an out and allowed them to feel as if they've done nothing wrong, and they have (repeatedly). HRS has a long history of transphobia, and will never be trusted by the trans community.
I totally agree with this posting. The HRC has been nothing short of an abomination in the way they have ignored the needs of transgendered Americans.
The HRC has been nothing short of a fundraising arm for the do-nothing Democrats. They take tens of MILLIONS out of the LGBT communities to fund their black-tie affairs in DC and their lavish $30M center. They are hostile to outside thinking. They are good at patting themselves on the back for failed campaigns. They do not speak for me.
Meghan, I want to thank you for the information you sent through Jenn to me. I will want to speak with you at some point so that I can help my ss. I am completely ignorant in regard to this topic so I have a lot of research to do. Thank you so much for your kindness.
Regina, thank you for your comment - I appreciate all comments both good and bad. Whilst I do not work for HRC, I do use my role on the HRC Business Council and other areas to ensure that an inclusive-ENDA is focused on. As I said in my speech, with a changed administration, fair House and Senate we will see change and support of only an inclusive-ENDA. Remember Bush already said NO! I will not stop pushing for only an inclusive-ENDA
Meghan Stabler, Thank You for mentioning the T-people across the street in your speech and explaining Your views! Please, In your Job at HRC. Make sure that HRC realizes that by Supporting the ENDA bill without T-Protections HRC has cause most of the T community to view HRC as earning less than 3% on the current Corporate Equality Index. HRC and JOE S. Need to make PUBLIC and written apology for supporting a non inclusive ENDA! HRC needs to withdraw It's support for that Bill!
I think change doesn't come over night and what you are doing slowly but surely WILL help the T-people. You and Joe S have made a first and very important step towards equality, not forgetting one community over another but realizing that every small step makes a massive difference. I think you are brilliant Meghan!!! And I fully support the HRC!!!
Meghan is my hero. Thank you for all the hard work you do, and you are a beautiful woman.
