  • toilet has been doing this for months and just been shutting the water off after flush and refill..........took 5 minutes to fix using this trick. Thanks mush!!!

  • this sux...I accidentally broke the plastic piece holding the ball trying to bend it! Bad advice.

  • 1980s Peerless Pottery Toilet.

  • Why are you bending the rod when there is an adjustment screw?

That said that type of ballcock is junk I would put in a new Fluidmaster 400A and a new flapper and be done with it!

  • The hell with that!! I'd rather replace it with a Fluidmaster 400LS or 400A fill valve.

  • agreed! you need to bend the rod DOWN to lower the water level in the tank! sheesh!

  • bend the rod down not up

  • If you bend the bar UP, the float will have to be even higher to cause the valve to close. You should adjust the set screw on the ballcock valve, or if that is not possible, you should bend the bar DOWN so that the float closes the valve when the water level is still below the level of the overflow tube.

  • lol,was thinking the same, how can the float be set too low lol

  • What the?
