@samurabbi There isn't a single answer to your question, but the first step is talking to a Coast Guard recruiter. To learn more about the Coast Guard and to find a recruiter near you, visit: gocoastguard(dot)com.
@samurabbi Good luck, don't know you but good luck. You have to go through the same training as the Seals and Rangers and few will ever be good enough. I wish you the best of luck, and go to a four year college before you join. That way you'll become a officer unless you don't pass the Sat and act scores. If you don't think you can be a grunt and become enlisted.
how hard is it to become a coast gurad helicopter pilot? Obviously not as hard as rescue swimmer, but i'd still like to know.... i'm 15 and this is my future for sure, i don't want to do anything else
hey man im 15 to and its my future for sure its actually pretty complicated to become a plot you have to go to officer training school because you must be an officer to be a pilot and than they will allow 20 ppl to go to flight school.
hey thanks man... hey maybe one day we will be co-pilots haha that would be awesome. how many people are in a usual officer class, that they choose 20 from
oh and btw to go to Officer candidate school you have to go to university and they will only pay for the two last years in the ROTC program if thats a problem for you and also i dunno how many would be there
It was awesome!! Everyone that has this training available to them should take advantage and go! Def. worth it! The best part IMO has to be the vertical delivery cliff OP's!
AWSOME!!!! i cant wait till i get into the coast guard so are you a rescue swimmer cause thats what i want to be!!! lol im too young to get into it yet but to you have any tips for me to get ready for training???
Im not a Rescue Swimmer. Im a Flight Mechanic. Im the guy that lowers the swimmer into the water and picks up the survivors. The best advice I can give you is to do a lot of cardio. Obviously swim your butt off and get used to being under water! Be prepared for the Dunker training. Thats the simulated helicopter crash in the water. Look it up. Kind of scary at first but its no big deal. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask! Good Luck!
for the dunker training do you have to like hold your breath lol if so for how long? how do you get recruited for it like do you join the coast guard first and then go to the 18 week program? and just curious do you get to pick where your stationed? thx for awnsering my questions
Yeah you have to hold your breath!!!LOL You sit in a big metal tank that kind of resembles a helicopter and it drops into a pool. It sinks to the bottom of the pool and while at the same time flipping upside down. This is the natural tendency for a helicopter in the water because they are top heavy. Once the tank stops moving you have to release your harness and find an exit. You do this twice and then you do it blindfolded to resemble night time. That one kinda freaked me out!
To get into Aviation, you have to go to boot camp and once you make E-3, then you can put your name on the school list as long as you meet the required ASVAB scores and pass a Flight Physical for Aviation. While at your A-school, you get to fill out a "Dream Sheet". This is where you put the Airstations where you would like to go. Its all up to the CG's needs though! Thats why its called a dream sheet.
send me a friend request i got inspired by my dad so im joing the cg i got 7 years and today i ran a mile at a school track in 8:27 is that good and what am i going to need for my pt tests i condiditoin my self alot im 11 and i can hold my breath for about 1 minute please reply cus this is my dream for a life time and im willing to give anything for it
