  • This is amazing!!!! My grandparents always told me stories about this! But seeing our town like that is crazy!!! Love this video

  • If there is another flood, hope it takes care of the hard drugs and loser problem that plagues the town !

  • Ptown / Scioto county native. Glad to live far far away from there (1,800 + miles is adequate)

    :D

Cool video though ! Thanks for posting !

  • Music is celebratory in nature...but the flood was definitely not something to celebrate...

  • i lived in portsmouth my hole life born and raised

  • Even though it is horribly flooded here, why do i wish portsmouth was still this way?'

  • My grandparents and mother were at 822 Gay. My grandmother cried at the loss of her Baby Grand piano

  • My Dad grew up in Portsmouth sometime in the late 30's til he went to Korea in 47. Cool stuff and Thanks

  • My dad worked for N&W. When I helped him remodel my grandmothers house on 3rd street there was mud caked in the second floor light switches and outlets.

  • Is it sad that i'd rather live in that Portsmouth than the one we have today?

  • This is a treasure. Thank you.

  • My dad is from Portsmouth he was a cab driver in the late 30s then he moved to Indianapolis

  • Cool video the music makes me laugh though.

  • MY God , Where did you get this. My grandmother told me of the flood and had pictures, I had no idea there were videos of it. Is that PHS, the library and in one clip ,in the distance is that St. Mary's? Is the steel mill , the Vulcan visible in this film. I wish I could have shown this to my grandmother , but I'm sure she saw quite enough of it herself. Can this be enhanced? Preserve the master copy, of course. But what about digital color and so on?

  • Great look back in time.

  • very interesting

  • Let me be the first to say, Great footage! i'm glad you kept these old movies of Portsmouth all these years, it's like peering back in time, thanks for posting them.
