Problem with jap bikes ( and i have had 5 ) is planned obsolecense. After a few yrs you cant get parts. More difficult to work on. They lose value ect. Harley you can always get parts no matter how old. Simpler design like an old hot rod. And they hold their value better.

i got a 1986 honda 900F and for an old bike to top out AT 165MPH is not too bad at all. i think the new bikes are better but you can't forget the past. i get lots of respect when people stop off to look at my relic and see it still melts pavement LOL
