  • @earthling1984 or some type of map

  • and 55 gallon get a fx5 there 220 on amazon .com you will be happy with that

  • treat the shell rot goon

  • i luv your work

  • @Blackmonkeyninja43 Thanks :)

  • Hey man love the vids. I am interested in getting a turtle or turtles for my classroom and have limited space. What do you think would be some good choices in turtles as well as the needed tanks(etc). If you could bestow some knowledge on me I would greatly appreciate it! Keep the videos comming :)

  • @matt30512 musks or eastern&southern paiunted are fairly common, and if you get a male will only get 6inches tops. You can do with a 40gallon(30gallon to start maybe, but I'd recommend at least 40gallon for the whole life of turtle). Get UVB light, good filtration, and I would leave the bottom bare, or use large rocks. Have the water temp in the low 70's, and basking area in the mid to high 80's. Make sure basking area is compeltely try. Remember turtles can live for decades!

  • @earthling1984 Thanks alot man I actually just went ahead and purchased some of the basics off of Craiglist. Found a nice 55 gallon. Now on that note, what would be a good filtration system to run this on...and if you can think of some that would be on the more inexpensive side that would be great. I am utilizing ebay and craigslist too however. On any of the other supplies you mentioned is there any prefered brands that you trust over others? I'm eager for info :)

  • how do you feed both at the same time

  • What happened to the Texas map turtle

  • @PeterPenguin0417 he died, I did a video on it when he died.

  • The tank must be cycled before anything can be kept in it right?

  • @herp45 yes, this should be done with any aquarium. for fish, turtles, newts, any animal in water.

  • how many gallons is that tank

  • tinfoil barb will get huge if the turtles dont kill him

  • PD looks like some sort of slider or cooter, defo not a map. Balas and barbs should be in large schools

  • i like turtles

  • Are these turtles all males and if they are do they fight

  • @PeterPenguin0417 all males, yes, except I am unsure are 'PD'. never fight.

  • Nice tank please keep us updated

  • How big is that tank bro?

  • @BDJesse : You said that I dont have a degree that says that I know about animals. Actually I do have a degree in the field of environment and biology, and I do know a thing or two about animal behaviour, animal habitats and how ignorance can be a problem among some pet hobbyists, Animals are not little human beings, they are species with specific needs.

  • @BabsiOyster just curious, what is your degree?

  • how big is that tank 75 gallon?

  • might be a yellow ear slider ,i don't know, maybe make a video of him seperate and of all his body parts?would help :D

  • @earthling1984 are turtles smelly????

  • @fishy686 mine dont' smell at all. As long as you have proper filtration and maintain your tank, there is no smell what so ever.

  • Ok, thanks for not getting mad for my comments. The nipping is just one of the problems. The fish are under huge stress when surrounded by predators in a small space. The turtle excrement is not good for those fish, either. I think the best approach to animal keeping is finding the most authentic conditions for every species. But I'm sure you care for you animals the best you can.

  • u should do a parrotlet care video!!!

  • @soda12ish good idea, perhaps soon I will :)

  • The tank is way too small (which you already know) for your turtles, the land space is way too small, and you should never mix fish with turtles in the same tank, for several reasons which I'm sure you are aware of but you don't seem to care. But the scariest thing is that you don't even know what type of animals you are keeping. "Throwing in fish just for fun" is wrong. WRONG!

  • @BabsiOyster I appreciate your comment! Yes, the tank is ok for the musk, painted, and reeves, but with 'PD' the new turtle, it is a bit on the small size. I do plan to upgrade the size of the tank. As for the fish, I was at the pet shop and there was a sale, and I was like, hmm, I'll throw in some fish. As I said in the video, I can see one has a bit of a nipped fin, and if it happens more, they will be removed. We all make mistakes and impulse buys, but I keep a close eye and care well.

  • @BabsiOyster

Earthling1984 knows whats wright or wrong just saying!

  • how can u afford all these pets lol

  • The mystery turtle, is probably a RES. i have a seven year old one and he is about the same size. They grow extremely slow,

  • @MriRandom it's a map. So far I've got 95% people say it's a map, and about 5% or less say it's a res :) the shell shape is what makes it look like a map.

  • you got a red tinfoil barb in there\

  • Do an update on the beardies

  • Petey looks like a common map. Type in on google images different kinds of maps and try to match up wich one looks the most like petey.

  • the ? turtle looks kinda like a red eared slider but im not positive since i didnt get a good look at him

  • @MrDavidharris8749 well I hope he isn't. They owned him for 5 years, so if it was a RES i would assume it would be larger, but maybe it is just a smaller sized male. Some people guessed a map turtle. Either way, I hope he doesn't get much larger, i like small turtles :)

  • @earthling1984 not a res its some type of map

  • I had a turtle kinda like that one time and it would eat the fish

  • @Crimsontide798 yeah, if I notice much more fin bites I will remote the fish

  • @earthling1984 I thought these fish would be large enough(larger than 3 of the 4 turtles), but somebody bit that fish for sure. the bala shark still is in perfect condition, but the other fish definetley was bit.

  • how many gallons is this tank?

  • @VicyyL this tank is a 40gal. and yes, I know I recommend larger tanks for turtles in my videos. I plan to upgrade them to a 125gal soon :)

  • Could you do a STO update please. We haven't seen them in a long time.

  • what happened to the southern?

  • @LogeranoushesTurtles He's been gone since like 2 months after I got him. He disappeared about 2 months after I got him, I simply couldn't find him in the tank. To this day(a year+ later) I haven't found his shell anywhere. Not in the tank, in the pet room, anywhere. I really have no idea what happened to him.

  • @earthling1984 woah! thats scary man. lol do you think he got stolen? weird!

  • yeh turtles i love what you have done with the aquarium, whare did you get the live rock\

  • @CBW0314 the huge brown/red pieces I believe I found at petco, and I only purchased them when I saw that they were marked down in a clearance rack from like $15 a piece to like $3 a piece! The other rocks I purchased randomly overtime from random pet shops.

  • @earthling1984 thanks for the reply i love the new technology reviews, but why are you doing them?

  • @CBW0314 why not :) I like to tell people about anything, pets, RC, electronics, I just love to explain things to people and let them learn about new things :)

  • Happy turtles! =3

  • The razorback musk is staring into your soul.

  • pd is a map turtle :}

  • do a collection update please

  • Yay :3 Pet video!

  • First and cool turtles :)
