how does Alchemy Index V1-2 differ to V3-4? i really like the sound of Vhessiu, but still enjoy a bit of the heavier side like Image Invisible. i love progressive and experimental, just want to hear the ease of heavy to soft first.
Fire is really heavy, whereas Water is really laid back, but with lots of instrumental layering. My favourite is Air, it's really got a mix of everything, and Earth is really rootsy.

There is a whole world of music out there besides Thrice, and I don't care how long you've been with a band, that's irrelevent when it comes to MY opinion. Trophy Scars covered Alchemy a long time ago, and the word has just been popping up everywhere lately. They have not improved moreso than any band. They have matured, but to me, their music is plain and contrived. That's just me though.
Have you seen them live? You can't call that plain. They're better than on their fricken albums, and their albums are awesome. Stage presence=INSANE. Who cares who's original. It's just the pure music in general that matters.

Yeah, I was having trouble distinguishing that for vs. far thing. But I mean either one could work grammatically. If you think "I am cursed for more (things) than I am praised (for)." BUt yeah, still not sure either way.
Anyway, I thought these worked a lot better than what people have posted previously because it actually has a sonnet rhyme scheme. The only line that doesn't fit as a sonnet is "I peel...with you" because itr isn't iambic pentameter (ten syllables, every other one stressed).

This is the Air Sonnet. It'll be the last Listen to the last bit, after the pause. It's got the same chord progression and roughly the same melody as in the end of the songs "The Flame Deluge" and "Kings Upon the Main".

I think I could write a book on everything I love about this band. But fortunately for you, I am going to put the sparknote version right here so you don't have to endure thousands of pages of me saying, "I like them because they are really good."
Basically this is what I have to say about the whole old Thrice/new Thrice debate. It is undeniable that The Illusion of Safety is an unbelievably, amazing album. So much raw emotion packed into those dozen or so songs. I agree wholeheartedly with those who think the album is great from a musical standpoint.
But on the other hand, Vheissu is no less amazing. The raw emotion we see in older Thrice is just tamed and tailored so that the noise is more than just noise, it is melodic heaven (to me at least). For those of you who require fast beats and screaming, just listen to the scream at the end of For Miles. It is so passionate and it is obvious that Dustin put his heart, mind and body into making it as epic and explosive as it is.
That scream alone should be enough to tell everyone that music isn't about a certain genre or style, it is about the passion for making it. Fast beat slow beat, it doesn't matter. If I hear an album that shred for 13 songs straight, then great. But if there is no want and no desire mixed in, it is not worth listening to in my opinion. I don't want empty lyrics and vocals. I don't want meaningless music.
Old Thrice and new Thrice were both filled equally with passion. They are fairly equal in my eyes. But I don't want another IOS. Why would I want Thrice to make the same music they have already made? I want new music. I think that Thrice's progression is great. I hope everyone can see where I am coming from. They are the same band, playing with the same passion for what they do. They have just evolved in the way they present that passion.
Honestly Im tired of people saying there newer albums aren't as good as illusion and identity crisis. They need to grow up and broaden there music preference. Vheissu was nothing short of amazing. I think that is how it goes. I am pretty suire about the first half. But from "shutters flung" on I can't quite tell.

I think the last line is "That I am curse far more than I am praised." Cursed for more, doesn't really make sense. Say that in a common day sentence doesn't flow. "I am going to curse you for more than you are praised." Doesn't really make sense. I certainly could be wrong though :) Thanks for posting these. "still I deign to wander..." makes a lot of sense. Glad you cleared these up.

Yeah, I was having trouble distinguishing that for vs. far thing. But I mean either one could work grammatically. If you think "I am cursed for more (things) than I am praised (for)." BUt yeah, still not sure either way.
Anyway, I thought these worked a lot better than what people have posted previously because it actually has a sonnet rhyme scheme. The only line that doesn't fit as a sonnet is "I peel...with you" because itr isn't iambic pentameter (ten syllables, every other one stressed).

Fire & Water are both more excelent(words aren't enough to define them), and I can't wait to hear the second part(of I guess, the third and fourth parts) of The Alchemy Index.

I think Thrice did what other bands are scared to do...they produced 4 different types of music, incorporating all of their talents into 4 seperate works of art.....i noticed someone had said "Thrice isnt the band for small minds" and i 100% agree with that..yeah the music is great, but take a moment to actually listen to the words. and once you do, you will appriciate Thrice in a whole other perspective....absolutely amazing. Dustin, Teppei , Riley , Eddie....my hat is off to you guys...wow..

This is the Air Sonnet. It'll be the last Listen to the last bit, after the pause. It's got the same chord progression and roughly the same melody as in the end of the songs "The Flame Deluge" and "Kings Upon the Main".

yeah to anyone whos bitchin about the new direction their heading in, if you haven't noticed they are kinda headed in four separate directions so if Air isn't your thing, you've got three other types of music by them to try out.
personally I think this is amazing, thrice has always been a pretty deep band but now they're digging deeper and i love it and i love how sincere and caring they are.

I'm so positive that these guys are going to go down as one of the greatest and underappreciated bands of this generation. Vheissu was one of the best records I've heard in the last 10 years. Alchemy is so huge we're getting 2 discs this year and 2 discs next year. I CAN'T WAIT! I'm going to devour this album. It's going to be such an event in the world of rock and roll. Band's don't do this kind of thing anymore.

This is an epic song, to be one of many on what i'm sure will be the most epic set of albums i've ever heard in my life. Thrice has grown so much, and they continue to be my favorite band. As much as i love their old music (like Illusion of Safety for example) i'd be upset if i heard another album like that, and Thrice is set to not copy old material, i love and respect them for that.

Basically this is what I have to say about the whole old Thrice/new Thrice debate. It is undeniable that The Illusion of Safety is an unbelievably, amazing album. So much raw emotion packed into those dozen or so songs. I agree wholeheartedly with those who think the album is great from a musical standpoint.

But on the other hand, Vheissu is no less amazing. The raw emotion we see in older Thrice is just tamed and tailored so that the noise is more than just noise, it is melodic heaven (to me at least). For those of you who require fast beats and screaming, just listen to the scream at the end of For Miles. It is so passionate and it is obvious that Dustin put his heart, mind and body into making it as epic and explosive as it is.

That scream alone should be enough to tell everyone that music isn't about a certain genre or style, it is about the passion for making it. Fast beat slow beat, it doesn't matter. If I hear an album that shred for 13 songs straight, then great. But if there is no want and no desire mixed in, it is not worth listening to in my opinion. I don't want empty lyrics and vocals. I don't want meaningless music.

Old Thrice and new Thrice were both filled equally with passion. They are fairly equal in my eyes. But I don't want another IOS. Why would I want Thrice to make the same music they have already made? I want new music. I think that Thrice's progression is great. I hope everyone can see where I am coming from. They are the same band, playing with the same passion for what they do. They have just evolved in the way they present that passion.
