Man, where was this last year? I can't believe I didn't find this review last year when I HAD MONEY for a wireless arcade stick (even an expensive one). I hope like hell they're still making these.
i have an arcade stick that works for ps2,ps3,pc and it's good but the stick is not good at all i dont like it because it doesn't have the stick tha this one has. mine has a round knob (ball) for a stick and i'm wondering if anybody knows where i can get a fighting stick like the one from the video with that kind of stick, but for ps2,ps3,pc
u realize if u been searching for so long that i could have made ur own u can buy the classic buttons and the joystick of the internet and make ur own box take apart a standard 360 controller and wire it up together and its just as good if not better when u customize it to your liking
@manny9567 This is the absolute best way to go. You just have to have minimal knowledge on soldering and knowing which materials you would like to use on the actual build of the box. I used plastic and plexy glass.
Ordering a premade stick is just easier. If you just dont have the time or make the time for the build, then its only the common sense way to go.
@chasing3suns Thats actually incorrect. Many competitive gamers, such as myself, will compete in tournaments with different conditions. For example, I prefer to play Marvel games with an Xbox360 controller, but Tekken with arcade stick with a Happ Stick. In Dallas, we have tournaments where people are accomodated with the ability to bring their own arcade sticks or controllers, non moded of course. And people do this all the time in huge tournaments. Justin Wong had a stick for every game.
It looks good, but it lacks the LT and RT buttons, a toggle switch (to switch between analog sticks and the D-pad) and above all, is American style. If you want the best joystick get the Street Fighter arcade stick Standard or Tournament Edition.
Plz stop asking to do research. Im pretty sure I know more about Sanwa and other arcadesticks than you.
1- MadCatz officially sells 4-way gated joysticks. You are able to go to Sanwa and purchase 8-way gates.
2- Matcatz places the joystick and buttons 1-2" too close to eachother and are known for hand collision. Needs to be further apart.
3- There is more TV lag than there will ever be button/stick lag. High quality is just a sales term. They will all break eventually. TE's buttons do too.
@ImJustKindaHere Yeh but if your lazy as hell (like me) you dont want to put time into modding a stick into a better one. You just want to order it, recieve it and play. But i agree that the TE fightstick is not the best as darkinteria was saying.
@ImJustKindaHere Yeh but if your lazy as hell (like me) you dont want to put time into modding a stick into a better one. It's a very DURABLE and RESPONSIVE (THATS WHAT HIGH QUALITY MEANS) fightstick. You just want to order it, recieve it and play. @ImJustKindaHere and also, take a look at any competition video of sf, mvc, kof, etc and ill gaurantee you almost everyone there will have some sort of TE or even hori...theres a reason for that. of course im talking about fighting games but if you play arcade games its best to get bat style sticks...but yeah a TE only goes for 100-150 which isnt bad at all considering what your getting and how easy it is to mod
dude best controller ever my dad is a game engineer and we built one with a second analog stick and triggers so i play two player games and halo like an arcade
What's the point of this product when the X-Arcade is only $99 works on your PC by default and can work with any console via adapters they offer....so it's universal! Maybe thats why this overpriced controller isn't offered anymore. Won't be missed.
@DeltaPhi79 Not necessarily true. Wouldnt it be convenient to have a link in the description, leading you to a trusted seller, who wont rip you off/scam you? Wouldnt it be nice to have a link in the description, so you wouldnt have to scroll through the billions of Google pages, trying to find the exact thing Mark just reviewed? This might not apply to this particular product, as I found it relatively easy, but other products may not be as easy to find.
@hypothesies1 Which is what I meant... I should have said that more clearly. I meant that with this and a lot of the newer things he reviews, you really don't need a link.. The old stuff like the MAS stick for the Neo Geo might need a link IF someone has more than one.. Otherwise, there's not much a point.
@michelangelocrisis 5 MONTHS?! WTF! Why would you even wait that long. It took me about 2 weeks during my spare time to make my own custom arcade stick using an xbox controller (wired) the same way they make them.
There is a good vid I used from youtube that shows step-by-step on how to make your own stick.
I got custom color on buttons and a red joystick. Easy as hell to just make your own. My grand total cost for the whole thing was like $75 including the wood for the box.
best joystick LMAO you obviously havent used sanwa or seimitsu joysticks buttons are gross get some sanwa buttons man come on ..the placement of the start select and home button are to close to the joystick which may cause you to accidentally press them which would suck if your playing a match and also wireless sucks theres input lag which may cause you to drop links in a combo in a game like ssf4
How no one's ever heard of the X-Arcade joysticks. Granted, it's not wireless, but the quality is just as good as this one, and it's compatible with all the modern consoles.
@tiga2001 Because those are mainly for PC and most console people can't see past their own fanboy ism. CGR actually got one of them so maybe word will get out.
wouldn't the springs wear out on those buttons?... they didnt' sound like they had a very good spring in them.... I'm sure its the same as an arcade machine but not like anyone's ever gone to the arcade and seen not a warn out machine
@ImJustKindaHere hey just chill out dude, do you realize how many people probably ordered one just like you did BECAUSE of CGR? this show is so popular, they obviously couldnt keep up with the sudden rush of demand for their product.
@Nickhnt1793 Thats not what Dream Arcades said. I was told by them that this arcade stick gets good feedback, but noone is actually buying it. Thats actually what I was told. They only placed a small batch of arcade sticks and will not be doing it again.
Why do you want me to chill out? Are you really that fragile? Im simply giving a heads up. There used to be another company in NJ that sold awesome arcade sticks but had bad service. Alot of people complained to the BBB and got them shut down.
@the101gamers Plz dont take this the wrong way... Matcatz are terrible (IMO). They have the worst 4-way ball joystick. Button layouts are never to arcade specs. Stick and buttons are too close to eachother (hands sometimes collide).
-Parts are cheap to replace, thats a plus. But so are custom buttons.
-Madcatz is more intended for Japanese players not american. The 360 degree Happ Joysticks are way better than the 4 & 8 way ball Sanwa sticks.
A good quality Sanwa arcade stick will run you ^_^
@SLRMC93 I did way too much searching for arcadesticks, Amazon was on the top of my list. I considered a company in Europe that makes amazing looking arcadesticks too, but very expensive.
Make your custom arcade stick. Thats exactly what the Dream Stick is.
I ordered my buttons and joystick from a company online called Twisted Quarter. You choose colors and styles.
Then do some soldering (very easy) Look up a vid on youtube.
Then build a box. I used wood. I went to homedepot for everything. YAY
@ImJustKindaHere honestly itll cost you more WAY more to make your own custom stick...you might as well either get the madcatz tournament edition if your into fighting games, or something like the xarcade if your into arcade games. i was gonna do the same thing but found out for real high quality buttons and a stick (sanwa all the way for fighting games)it would cost me a minimum of 50-70 bucks...i can find a madcatz TE for about that price on a good day on amazon, most of the time about 100.
@darkinertia2 Every1 always says "high quality" as if it means something superior. High quality simply means that it works when you need it. My buttons and Happ stick have never failed me.
MadCatz have terrible sticks. They are all 4-way and have the ball top used mainly in Japan. Happ sticks are 360 degrees and are shaped like a bat used in almost all American arcade sticks.
Plz mention how much the TE cost. You know its rediculous. My custom stick cost under $100. The feel is so worth it.
@ImJustKindaHere high quality means to me at least that itll work great and wont hinder your ability, if anything improve it. and trust me, if we were talking about anything besides the TE, id agree. i hate madcatz for the most part. but the TE is the all around best stick you can find for the money. and thats a complete lie they arent 4way and if you spent a little time researching youd know that theres no fight stick that isnt 8way...for playing fighting games the japanese hardware is a must
OK yall, Yesterday I placed an order for a Dream Stick from Dream Arcades. I will post my own video review of this arcade stick as soon as possible. I noticed no one else has done it, and many people really would like a real review of it.
Hope I will be much help. I paid $164 total. Currently on sale for $119, $16 for headset adapter, and $29 shipping.
Not a bad price for a real arcade joystick (baseball bat style, not bubble head and only 4 directional from MadCat & Hori)
BTW~~~~ I am sooo about to buy the Dream Stick, I just say that its on sale for $40 off right now. So its actually cheaper to buy the Dream Stick right now than to get a "tournament edition blah blah blah" matcat or a hori Stick.
Dont get me wrong, the Hori uses awesome buttons, but that 4 direction Joystick is not designed for extreme games like Marvel Vs Capcom 2 and soon to be MvC3 (which will use a 6 button layout, but tatsunoki vs capcom layout GAY!!!)
@ImJustKindaHere Curious dude, have you heard of arcade in a box sticks? Awesome I keep hearing, they can make any custom stick, buttons, HAPP parts, japanese hori parts etc to make your dream stick. Cost a pretty penny though from 150-200 bucks+ depending on what you get. But yeah, the dream stick doesn't look bad at all. The 4 directional thing I've always hated lol I think it's because SF uses charge characters(and that's why the japanese love the 4 direction) so I've read...
@MKF30 Yes, I have heard of arcade in a box stick. The first thing I did was laugh. That name is just terrible ^_^
But yes, I have been doing as much research on joysticks as I possibly can cause I am in the market for a good one. My friend lend me his madcat, and its not for me. I play MvC2 and it doesnt work well.
The arcade in a box is crazy expensive, but custom. I wish the dream stick had the buttons and stick further apart tho. I had my hands colliding sometimes.
@ImJustKindaHere Arcade in a Box doesnt sound like a ligit biz either. I like that the Dream arcades is actually a real and ligit biz. Plus they have a Lifetime Warrenty.
Huge problem i have with the Dream stick is that its wireless. That is STUPID!!! What will happen is Im in a ranked match and suddenly it turns off! Atleast make it adaptable by somekind of usb connection!
Dream stick is the only wireless stick becuase going wireless is not a good idea. Double A batteries?!?! Really!!! X(
@ImJustKindaHere lol yeah the name is alright, I'd say about the same as this dream stick lol. But ehh, names aside it's performance which ultimately counts. Everyone I know who has AIAB says good things but you need to put down some money, the only biggy.Yeah, wireless is a double edged sword really....In the future I think I'll consider this and/or an AIAB, but I will get the TE stick that comes with MK9 which looks awesome(I'm an MK player) so that layout is great for MK :).
@MysticTrunksHq, maybe or japanese fighters...a hori stick and parts are good, but definitely NOT for American games like MK for example or KI....and HAPP are as good as any other arcade company parts, that's a fact...try playing those fighters with a Hori stick or japanese parts=fail...HAPP =awesome, especially for american games. It's tighter, better sticks then the dumb bubble head sticks any day...HAPP sticks also unlike Japanese sticks do full 360 and not just 4 directions.
@MKF30 That is exactly what I hate about Matcat & Hori joysticks. The bubble head design and THE 4 DIRECTION MOVEMENT!!!!!
For example. Magneto in Marvel vs. Capcom 2: Its much more difficult to do circle motion moves on the madcat and hori, but on 360 degree stick its much easier and you get a more round feel out of it.
The madcat was made more to assist in SSF4. Example: 1 of Guile's specials. On madcat you only have to do back-forward-back-forward and it does the rest of the motions 4 you
@ImJustKindaHere Yep, yep exactly! Thank you! lol, of late been running into some people that love hori bubble sticks over baseball bat HAPP, I don't get it...the HAPPS are not only more comfortable but far smoother...
Hell even some american MVC cabs have the HAPP stick but Japanese SF layout if you noticed. I agree, never saw the hype in a hori bubble stick. I have heard the Madcatz SF4 stick from people and watching vids that it's good for that game, but for every fighter or MK, KI? No way
To me Mad Catz sticks are more responsive and Dream stick feels kinda loose in intense fights. I think it should be a bit cheaper. It's just a bit too "clicky".
That dream stick should of been made for the playstation 3 for mortal kombat 9. Xbox sucks. You can also play the nonexisting ps3 dream stick with psone games at the ps3 store.
@redback3 I'll be a dick all I like when some ignorant, very uninformed little boy says "xbox sucks". All I can say is...Look at the figures son, look at the figures.
@kevizzlecwalk for one of these? These are absolute crap compared to high end arcade sticks.. People either buy Hori or mad catz tournament edition s sticks and mod them with seimitsu or sanwa if there absolutely serious about arcade games or fighting games in general. Sure it has GOOD build quality but it's a horrible stick in general.
Ok after looking at the insides it's a mess(take a gander at actual cabinets) It's worth the money for arcade games but not worth it if your serious about fighting games. I'd actually get Hori's(King in Japan for home arcade sticks, and mod with better sanwa parts) or get the Mad Catz TE SSIV S(I prefer the black one) and mod with better sanwa or seimitsu parts. Both of these sticks even the wiring is closer to the actual Japanese cabinets... America wasn't that great with the arcades anyways
I forgot to mention I own actual arcade cabinets and can tell you that these are not the bets parts for fighting games.. I'd mod it with actual arcade parts asap!
The sticks okay, but doesn't use any official arcade parts. They're dream arcade manufactured(not the same as official parts) Happ parts aren't that great I prefer Sanwa and Seimitsu! Happ isn't as responsive as sanwa or seimitsu. Japanese parts have always been better.
The only thing that really turns me off is the bat top -_-

@tiga2001 Because those are mainly for PC and most console people can't see past their own fanboy ism. CGR actually got one of them so maybe word will get out.

Ok, as I previously posted...
I placed an order for a Dream Stick from Dream Arcades. I paid $162.
10 days after paying, I called and found out that they havent shipped it yet. 10DAYS!!!
So i emailed my concern. I basically asked whats the hold up?
I recieved an email from Owner Mike Ware. He said he has refunded my money and taken my item off the shipping list. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!
They no longer respond to my calls or emails. Company is a disaster!
DO NOT ORDER FROM DREAM ARCADES! AVOID
ImJustKindaHere 1 year ago 90
@ImJustKindaHere hey just chill out dude, do you realize how many people probably ordered one just like you did BECAUSE of CGR? this show is so popular, they obviously couldnt keep up with the sudden rush of demand for their product.
Nickhnt1793 1 year ago
@Nickhnt1793 Thats not what Dream Arcades said. I was told by them that this arcade stick gets good feedback, but noone is actually buying it. Thats actually what I was told. They only placed a small batch of arcade sticks and will not be doing it again.
Why do you want me to chill out? Are you really that fragile? Im simply giving a heads up. There used to be another company in NJ that sold awesome arcade sticks but had bad service. Alot of people complained to the BBB and got them shut down.

the101gamers 8 months ago
@the101gamers Plz dont take this the wrong way... Matcatz are terrible (IMO). They have the worst 4-way ball joystick. Button layouts are never to arcade specs. Stick and buttons are too close to eachother (hands sometimes collide).
-Parts are cheap to replace, thats a plus. But so are custom buttons.
-Madcatz is more intended for Japanese players not american. The 360 degree Happ Joysticks are way better than the 4 & 8 way ball Sanwa sticks.
A good quality Sanwa arcade stick will run you ^_^

@ImJustKindaHere then try arcade in a box there good

@ImJustKindaHere Sounds like a job for Amazon!
SLRMC93 8 months ago
@SLRMC93 I did way too much searching for arcadesticks, Amazon was on the top of my list. I considered a company in Europe that makes amazing looking arcadesticks too, but very expensive.
Make your custom arcade stick. Thats exactly what the Dream Stick is.
I ordered my buttons and joystick from a company online called Twisted Quarter. You choose colors and styles.
Then do some soldering (very easy) Look up a vid on youtube.
Then build a box. I used wood. I went to homedepot for everything. YAY
ImJustKindaHere 8 months ago
@ImJustKindaHere honestly itll cost you more WAY more to make your own custom stick...you might as well either get the madcatz tournament edition if your into fighting games, or something like the xarcade if your into arcade games. i was gonna do the same thing but found out for real high quality buttons and a stick (sanwa all the way for fighting games)it would cost me a minimum of 50-70 bucks...i can find a madcatz TE for about that price on a good day on amazon, most of the time about 100.
darkinertia2 8 months ago
@darkinertia2 Every1 always says "high quality" as if it means something superior. High quality simply means that it works when you need it. My buttons and Happ stick have never failed me.
MadCatz have terrible sticks. They are all 4-way and have the ball top used mainly in Japan. Happ sticks are 360 degrees and are shaped like a bat used in almost all American arcade sticks.
Plz mention how much the TE cost. You know its rediculous. My custom stick cost under $100. The feel is so worth it.
ImJustKindaHere 8 months ago

ImJustKindaHere 1 year ago
BTW~~~~ I am sooo about to buy the Dream Stick, I just say that its on sale for $40 off right now. So its actually cheaper to buy the Dream Stick right now than to get a "tournament edition blah blah blah" matcat or a hori Stick.
Dont get me wrong, the Hori uses awesome buttons, but that 4 direction Joystick is not designed for extreme games like Marvel Vs Capcom 2 and soon to be MvC3 (which will use a 6 button layout, but tatsunoki vs capcom layout GAY!!!)
ImJustKindaHere 1 year ago
@ImJustKindaHere Curious dude, have you heard of arcade in a box sticks? Awesome I keep hearing, they can make any custom stick, buttons, HAPP parts, japanese hori parts etc to make your dream stick. Cost a pretty penny though from 150-200 bucks+ depending on what you get. But yeah, the dream stick doesn't look bad at all. The 4 directional thing I've always hated lol I think it's because SF uses charge characters(and that's why the japanese love the 4 direction) so I've read...
MKF30 1 year ago
@MKF30 Yes, I have heard of arcade in a box stick. The first thing I did was laugh. That name is just terrible ^_^
But yes, I have been doing as much research on joysticks as I possibly can cause I am in the market for a good one. My friend lend me his madcat, and its not for me. I play MvC2 and it doesnt work well.
The arcade in a box is crazy expensive, but custom. I wish the dream stick had the buttons and stick further apart tho. I had my hands colliding sometimes.
ImJustKindaHere 1 year ago
@ImJustKindaHere Arcade in a Box doesnt sound like a ligit biz either. I like that the Dream arcades is actually a real and ligit biz. Plus they have a Lifetime Warrenty.
Huge problem i have with the Dream stick is that its wireless. That is STUPID!!! What will happen is Im in a ranked match and suddenly it turns off! Atleast make it adaptable by somekind of usb connection!
Dream stick is the only wireless stick becuase going wireless is not a good idea. Double A batteries?!?! Really!!! X(
ImJustKindaHere 1 year ago
@ImJustKindaHere lol yeah the name is alright, I'd say about the same as this dream stick lol. But ehh, names aside it's performance which ultimately counts. Everyone I know who has AIAB says good things but you need to put down some money, the only biggy.Yeah, wireless is a double edged sword really....In the future I think I'll consider this and/or an AIAB, but I will get the TE stick that comes with MK9 which looks awesome(I'm an MK player) so that layout is great for MK :).
MKF30 1 year ago
@MysticTrunksHq, maybe or japanese fighters...a hori stick and parts are good, but definitely NOT for American games like MK for example or KI....and HAPP are as good as any other arcade company parts, that's a fact...try playing those fighters with a Hori stick or japanese parts=fail...HAPP =awesome, especially for american games. It's tighter, better sticks then the dumb bubble head sticks any day...HAPP sticks also unlike Japanese sticks do full 360 and not just 4 directions.
MKF30 1 year ago
@MKF30 That is exactly what I hate about Matcat & Hori joysticks. The bubble head design and THE 4 DIRECTION MOVEMENT!!!!!
For example. Magneto in Marvel vs. Capcom 2: Its much more difficult to do circle motion moves on the madcat and hori, but on 360 degree stick its much easier and you get a more round feel out of it.
The madcat was made more to assist in SSF4. Example: 1 of Guile's specials. On madcat you only have to do back-forward-back-forward and it does the rest of the motions 4 you
ImJustKindaHere 1 year ago
@ImJustKindaHere Yep, yep exactly! Thank you! lol, of late been running into some people that love hori bubble sticks over baseball bat HAPP, I don't get it...the HAPPS are not only more comfortable but far smoother...
Hell even some american MVC cabs have the HAPP stick but Japanese SF layout if you noticed. I agree, never saw the hype in a hori bubble stick. I have heard the Madcatz SF4 stick from people and watching vids that it's good for that game, but for every fighter or MK, KI? No way
MKF30 1 year ago
To me Mad Catz sticks are more responsive and Dream stick feels kinda loose in intense fights. I think it should be a bit cheaper. It's just a bit too "clicky".

kevizzlecwalk 1 year ago
@kevizzlecwalk for one of these? These are absolute crap compared to high end arcade sticks.. People either buy Hori or mad catz tournament edition s sticks and mod them with seimitsu or sanwa if there absolutely serious about arcade games or fighting games in general. Sure it has GOOD build quality but it's a horrible stick in general.
MysticTrunksHQ 1 year ago
Ok after looking at the insides it's a mess(take a gander at actual cabinets) It's worth the money for arcade games but not worth it if your serious about fighting games. I'd actually get Hori's(King in Japan for home arcade sticks, and mod with better sanwa parts) or get the Mad Catz TE SSIV S(I prefer the black one) and mod with better sanwa or seimitsu parts. Both of these sticks even the wiring is closer to the actual Japanese cabinets... America wasn't that great with the arcades anyways
MysticTrunksHQ 1 year ago
I forgot to mention I own actual arcade cabinets and can tell you that these are not the bets parts for fighting games.. I'd mod it with actual arcade parts asap!
MysticTrunksHQ 1 year ago
The sticks okay, but doesn't use any official arcade parts. They're dream arcade manufactured(not the same as official parts) Happ parts aren't that great I prefer Sanwa and Seimitsu! Happ isn't as responsive as sanwa or seimitsu. Japanese parts have always been better.
