@swrnc so you kinda just wasted a grand or over a grand on guns you barely use lol but I understand, I started with gravity fed, and HVLP and compliant guns. Compliant to me is better. I've been trying to buy a sata but just too expensive :/ I'm a student at my high school collision program.

@diyautoschool hmm i see, never thought about that. but in my opinion is all depends on the booth you have too, if you have enough of a vacum in there or, is it a down draft? maybe the dust just might linger around the booth before it gets sucked out. I hate single stage its a fucken mess, if your not careful it just runs like a bitch.

I haven't bought a gun yet, but im looking at sata 3000 conventional, is that a good choice? so far its one of the best choices i can. what do you think?

Pete are the sata's you got HVLP or NR conventional? Cause I'm a fast layer! I tried out the HVLP and it was a little to slow for me! I have two NR 3000 one for base and one for clear. i have a binks #7 i use as a primer gun it purges i was wandering if anyone knew why it sucks because its hard to get a full coat on a vehicle

I still have my trusty Binks # 7 but I only use it for primer it was my dads and he bought it about 27 years ago. I only use gravity feed to paint I have a Sata HVLP and my favorite is actually DevilBiss.

God damn $550.00 for a Foose gun thats a hell of a deal. I looked at one of them cock suckers on ebay it was 1,300. Fucking dollars. I Lmao at the one sined on Ebay naw for $2,300. Any dumb ass should be shot if they bought it. I loved my Nr95 and my nr2000. You will get used to it and save money. The first time i saw the Foose was in the auto body shop mag i think 8 months ago. Didnt give a price, but why pay more for a foose gun. Chip has plenty.Wonder haw many Sata made?

@swrnc Oh i know Pete.I like the black cup with the car on it thats it. Foose is a nice guy i saw him 2 times, very very nice guy. No i wouldnt pay $400.00 more for a gun that just has his name on it eather. I think thats why the paint shop had 2 Foose guns and sold them to you for the cost of a regular nr 3000.I cant see the price for just his name, or a collector gun. Hell Im not impressed with his work at all. The man is damn good but 1 week come on. Its a joke.

Hey Pete try out the devilbiss finishline guns I bought a kit from my auto body supply store comes with 2 gravity fed guns 1 detail and 1 hvlp has 2 different tips 1.4 and 1.8 comes with a cleaning kit and gun wrench I know im it sounds like im advertising to you but they are good for spraying primer

i just made the same switch myself pete. although not the exact same gun its along the lines and i got the same sized tips and im painting the Impala black too lol, are you spying on me all the way over here in Australia?! Good tips on the psi i have been playing with mine and found 35 psi works well with my new guns.

@GarethDavidWebb hey man im no expert but i know enough to do a few things and this is what i do if it will help ya. i use a sata jet 2000 hvlp. ive had it for 7yrs and works great. i use a 1.7 tip for spraying primer and sealers and then when im ready to paint i move to a 1.5 or 1.4 tip it atomizes the material better and lays flatter. hope that helps ya. but my sata u have to change fluid tip and the cap both.. im not sure about other brands tho all ive used is sata

Why do you hate black Pete? Me personally I love spraying black, sure if you have a flaw in your bodywork it sucks, and it is a bastard to keep clean, but man the gloss and depth you get out of black is great, and plus it is great for advertising! I think you will like the Sata guns I personally use Devilbiss GTi guns. I don't know how many old school guys around here refuse to use anything but the ol' Binks 7 until they try the new stuff then they are like why didn't I try this sooner!

Hi Pete,did you get a sata nr3000 hvlp for base and a sata 3000 rp for clear?The rp stands for reduced pressure but it still has the working speed of a conventional spray gun.I use a sata 3000rp for clear and I paint everyday in a shop.I run mine at about 33psi,fluid needle wide open and fan wide open.These guns work better if you spray closer to the surface about 4-5 inches and move fast.They are a little different than a conventional gun but they are awesome once you get used to them.

HVLP guns are way to go nowadays. If you don't want problems from local EPA then you better use HVLP. Conventional guns are illegal to use anymore.

It is not for me to tell you any thing about painting, but I can tell you what an old feller told me to do about gloss black,

He said...paint her flat black first, primer will do, then clear coat, clear coat, until Ya gets fed up with it, you will end up with the glossiest black you ever saw, Yup just like a Japanese Black lacquer finish.

I tried it.......he was right, that was 40 years ago.
