lol the dude with the guitar and side burns....is a chef 1:59-2:02...funny how media spin makes him look like a roughneck by default after showing all the roughnecks working....no shame to his game...bet he's pulling mad money working there indoors!
"I'm making more now than I would've if I would've gone to college." Well I went to college, got two engineering degrees, and work in the gas industry. It is really disappointing when the union guys pull in more than you do because of overtime yet we are short staffed and work a good bit of overtime ourselves.
@dbrutherford Union guys are smarter than you because they stuck together and formed a UNION with rules about how they would be treated. YOU educated people need to do the same NOW.
I wouldn't say they are smarter based on some of them I work with. haha I have nothing against the union. My dad was a union coal miner. But had i know what I know now, I wouldn't have went to college. I agree with you that my "salary" coworkers should band together and demand better compensation. Sadly I will just find another company to work for but with the low cost of nat gas jobs are drying up somewhat.
if anyone wants to come work in the oilfield come to west texas, midland odessa area! booming like crazy!!!! come on down we'll make a hand out of ya!!! lmao
My husband and I have worked in these "man camps" for years on The North Slope of Alaska. It quickly becomes a way of life...work for 4-6 weeks,12-14 hours a day 7 days a week......and then you go home for R&R.As they say in Alaska...once a "sloper" always a "sloper".
I already make $24 per/hr in Idaho with no connection to oil. If I go up I am going to own something, huge money in ownership (trucks, welding rigs, etc...)
They are out in the middle of nowhere with no places to rent, and just a podunk little town down the road dipshit, the company builds these camps and puts employees up in them, they work 16 hour days in the flatlands of Montana and North Dakota! I mean really think with the brain dipshit!
@917NickL33 the reason people can't just go rent a house or apartment is because there is so many people in thistown now that the average rent for a single place is $1500-2500 a month... and that's if they can find one... It's hard to find any place and all the prices on everything are inflated because they figure everybody's making good money! So when your company puts you up in a mancamp for free...or $400 as I was paying, it's the best deal there is!
@sombersolitude lol it wasnt the work. ive been on rigs since i was 18. i just thought ND would be cool but it was lame. Texas is where its at. :D you can stay up in ND with ur 1 girl to 50 guy ratio lol ..... ill stay in texas
@TOYDOLLSKID i was just trolling you bro. i live in nm and am looking to get on a rig. i'm thinking olkahoma or texas. maybe i should go to north dakota... but north dakota does look pretty lame. texas wasn't bad, lots of hot girls down there, oklahoma was a little boring but still cool i guess
Anything with "man" in front of it is too gay for me. Just call it OIL CAMP or something and I'll check it out. This sounds more like "boys town" to me. I'd go crazy in two months if I don't hear the sound of a female. And... No faking would do!
@Lionfisile These camps arent really that far from towns, and you know where a lot of these guys head at the end of their shift, just like the old west straight to the saloons in town. If you want to make a lot of money in a short time this is the place to be. The towns are literally booming with all the traffic from these guys. Where theres money theres women,, oh and cons, gambling, and just about anything else you can imagine.
So it's a man camp? Women can't work there? Lol

Why not just rent a house or apartment?? If the guy is making 'more now' than when he 'went to college (at 2:35) why not rent your own place??
