  • w0w

  • this is a good video. . this could encourage more youth to participate in an election. . thumbs up for you guyz! :)

  • so lame.

  • Goofy

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAA!!! Maybe you can invite Iggy to the next vote mob? I think he has some free time now!

  • /watch?v=6-wrC4U8MS8

    University of Toronto's Vote Mob!

  • I'm surprised Harper's RCMP squadrons didn't come to stop the students from encouraging not only their own body, but others to vote! Good one, U of Guelph!

  • Watch Oh Canada our bought and sold out land.

Harper was voted incompetent and the Law says he can't return as PM. He neglects the laws on the Hill.

The young people better get active before the Jews steal everything in Canada.

  • dumb asses vote fore none of the above, CANADA IS A COPERATION

  • Since two month (since I've read a book called "Contre Harper" --> "Against Harper"), there is not a single day where I don't learn something new and disgusting about Harper and his cabinet.

  • We did this PUPPET VOTE MOB youtube video. We are planning flash mobs if interested air-medics.ca/blog/ So we can all breath clean safe air.

  • A NEW AGE OF CANADA'S HEROS!! YOU ALL ROCK!!!

  • Fabulous guys! I'm so glad you're making it into something fun! Voting should be celebrated! I've been trying to get my friends and peers to vote like this since I turned 18. It brings tears to my eyes that you guys are becoming so successful with this movement. If every youth votes, Rick Mercer's right, they'll never ignore us again.

  • This 64-year-old thanks the students of Guelph University for showing that the youth of Canada do care. I probably shouldn't be offering counsel but I'll go this far - vote Liberal, vote NDP, vote Green, vote for whomever you want but know that the Harper government is the least democratic government Canada has ever had and I believe that a Harper majority would be a disaster. Thank you for listening.

PS: Benny Goodman music great choice!

  • So good to see this. Time to break the cycle of apathy in this country.

    STOP HARPER - VOTE STRATEGIC

  • You've made my dark old gen x heart weep! GO GEN Y!!!

  • Haha! This is amazing! Go NDP!!

  • I am glad your votes all counted! The young people will be the ones to stop Harper!

Young people make sure you go out and vote! Grab your friends and make sure they go too! Let's show that our collective voices cannot be silenced.

  • Love you all! A 53 year old woman who is following the campus vote mobs avidly! And you guys set the tone!

  • Love you all! A 53 year old woman who is following the campus vote mobs avidly!

  • I' m impressed really. and I hope all young voters will do their duty. Proudly. Canada must remain democratic. I'm from Quebec and I'd like to see our young students rally as you did.. Have a great May 2nd,

  • From another 62 year old. I am also VERY PROUD of all of you.!!!! We need your vote - as you are the future of the best country in the world. I have faith that you will make it better than it has ever been.

  • @philosopher108 I feel that yes the Democracy in Canada needs to be fixed, perhaps with proportional representation, but without voting you'll never get a chance to have you opinion be counted, even if it is just going to the voting booth and asking to have you vote "spoiled", that way it is know that you feel none of the groups are fit. If you don't show up, it is just assumed that you are too lazy to go vote. So it is not a matter of being "enslaved", but trying to be heard.

  • I love that it's ACTUAL average joe people that are encouraging other Canadians, and not just celebrity and big voices (not that they're not welcomed and effective).

  • LOVE IT!!! MUCH SUPPORT FROM JONESYBOYPOOM!

  • i LOVE all the video responses- so cool that other universities are rising up to our challenge !!

  • @philosopher108 "Rational, thinking individual"? The irony in you using this statement is almost funny

  • Raise a little hell guys! Whichever way you choose to vote, make it count.

  • Be weary of votecompass - it's too simplistic. Just read the platforms and decide for yourselves. We don't need an app to tell us how to vote: we need to figure it out all on our own.

  • I'm 62 yrs old and I've never been more proud of our young people as I am now. I want to hug you all...consider yourself hugged!

  • @Mhairecobhthaigh Thanks so much!!

  • @Mhairecobhthaigh Hey...I'm gonna be 69 this year, and I'm with you. These youngsters are GREAT aren't they? Fantastic. If we have these kids looking after Canada, we're going to be OK. Thanks to all of you.

  • Man, I've never seen that many people fail to be sneaky. ;). But hey, we've got to get out and VOTE!

  • well, I surely can't wait to see if they will actually vote... that may change the current polls a lot since most students dont seems to be Harper's fans and that liberal will actually help them with their student loans....

  • I'll believe it when I see it. it's easy to paint your face and make a youtube video but the vast majority of people under 30 don't vote and never will. good thing too, otherwise someone like elizabeth may might get elected *shudder*

  • wahooo ! was there for this <3

  • You guys have totally inspired a big Vote Mob at McGill. Stay tuned...

  • awesome! good job everyone!

  • Does anyone here actually talk policy? All i see are a bunch of bleeding heart liberals and green party tree huggers who simply dislike Harper and the Tories but don't even know why. I'm not a big fan of his but our economy is steady, jobs are increasing. I think that deserves a majority government. Another minority will lead to another election wasting more money. I don't care if it is liberal/tory/ndp. Let one have a majority. See what happens. Oh and green party should not be at the debates.

  • @HipHopiz4Real First. You missed the point. The video and rally neither supported or attacked any specific party or politician, it was a demonstration to the Prime Minister that the youth of Canada not only have a right to vote and an interest in politics but are also going to exercise that right during this election where we have fallen off in attendance in the past. Who you vote for, Liberal, Conservative, NDP is up to you, and peoples' personal political views are null in this situation.

  • @HipHopiz4Real Second, to say the Green Party has no right to a voice is extremely un-democratic. And your solution of a majority government, regardless of party or circumstance, shows very little understanding of our political system. Maybe instead of attacking the people involved, check their links over to votecompass.ca etc. and establish a better understanding of what this is all about?

  • @HipHopiz4Real I see a bunch of students standing up and voting according to how they see the issues. and even though there people who will be voting for various different parties they are not arguing about VOTING! Our economy is steady because Harper and his conservatives were blocked from deregulating the banks (public record -Liberal and NDP stopped him there) not because anything they actually did and if a party fields a candidate in all ridings they should be in the debate

  • @Dalben202 What are you talking about. There were no laws on the books preventing Canadian banks from buying asset backed securities or creating them. Also the US financial sector wasn't deregulated, and the one major regulation that was removed Glass-Stegal , the similar law in Canada was removed some time ago.

De-regulation had nothing to do with the collapse in the USA. Low intrest rates tax Laws, lending laws, and trillions of liquidity injected into the big financials via Fan and Fred

  • another excellent video from the young people of this country...you make a lot of us old fogeys proud...remember there really is power in your vote...good luck to you all

  • Fantastic! How many of you showed up?

McMaster hosted ours yesterday but there was not nearly as many as you guys.

    Congrats, seriously.

  • @SmokeyPurple5 I think we could fairly say we had over 400 :-) Thanks a lot and congrats on doing yours!! Is there a video?

  • @SmokeyPurple5 about 500 ppl showed up, but we do have a history of running vote mobs so it didn't need much convincing!! but amazing job, so glad you got to go to both rallies!! and amazing media coverage!

  • @Ysu1314 I don't think you should recommend vote compass. It misrepresents the parties badly, usually in Conservative favour.

  • @SmokeyPurple5 Well I totally would have been there, had I known.

  • @erger111 Here's a tip: since the whole point of an election, is to convince people to vote for your party, and Harper's already fending off a long record of abuse, you probably shouldn't assume that his critics are losers, and then tell them so.

You generally attract more flies with honey, than vinegar.

  • Creepy? You meant CREEPING. Did I mention how this made me cry? I am so proud.

  • ♥♥♥ We are working hard to get the word out to Canadians about our Crime Minister / Prime Spender Stealin' Harper. ♥♥♥ Google this discussion group of 6,500+ Canadians: (CRUSH) Canadians Rallying to Unseat Steve Harper ♥♥♥ Also we run a website called: unseatHarper dot ca ♥ We talk, share newstories and help each other understand the lies told to us by Harper and his unelected backroom goons, the billionaire owned mass media, and fake polls. ♥♥♥ Steve HarperCon: Government of One ♥♥♥

It brings tears to my eyes. And remember there will be advance polls that might be more convenient for you.Get to know your candidates, make an informed decision & if you have time volunteer you time & enthusiasm.

  • Seven people apparently don't like democracy.

  • the song is named sing sing sing

  • Well done all! Now, let's see if the politicians and wannabes get it! Sent with best wishes from someone born when Louis St-Laurent was PM.

  • Between the music and phrases like "the young people are coming", you would think this video was made by an 87 year-old woman.

  • @erger111

    well said.

  • @erger111 Standard conservative or ironic comment :/ . It was nowhere said these guys would vote for liberal. Maybe a lot will give their vote for the NDP.

But you're right: we can deduce from the fact that they consider democracy a good thing that they won't vote for Harper.

  • Comment removed

  • @erger111 Many students have jobs in order to pay for their education. How do you know what their political inclinations are? This is a message from students for students who has the right to vote, and should vote despite their hectic schedule of classes, jobs and exams. Conservatives can win votes too from youths, they just need to stop bashing the opposition and present some concrete platforms. That being said, Harper clearly has no respect for democracy.

  • thumbs up if your american

  • You have the Power-Make it COUNT-It is your Future

  • maybe if they actaully lower the frickin tuition

    but i'll vote i just turned 18 :D

  • @cutekitten12 I hope you do vote, and try to make an informed choice. I may make a strategic vote (voting for the party most likely to win against Harper), since Harper has done enough damage to Canada I think.

  • .... annoying

  • Good stuff guys

Props from a UofT guy for getting the word out :)

  • Why does the video say Surprise Harper? Way to turn an important issue like youth voting into partisanship you cunts. Soooooo fucking subtle you assholes.

  • @roncool11 i'm embarrassed to have to answer such a blatantly obvious question...well, Harper is our current PM. If Iggy was our current PM, the same message would apply. Same goes for Jack, Liz or Gilles. I hope this answers your question. In the meantime, try your best to put the 'cool' back in roncool11. All the best!

  • @roncool11 Sigh..... Harper was at the Delta in Guelph. And he also doubts the involvement of youth in the voting process. Hence the "Surprise Harper". The surprise is.... we're here and we're involved. It's not partisan in the least.

  • @roncool11 If you had bothered to read the news before shooting off your mouth, you would understand that the "Vote Mob"was organized in direct response to Harper's suggestion that young people were not engaged in politics and would not vote in the upcoming election.

Sit on your hands now. Your ignorance is showing.

  • @roncool11 Um it isn't partisanship .. where does it say what party to vote for .. Harper did get caught on camera saying that the youth would not vote so it wouldn't matter on their thoughts.

that "surprise Harper" could very well be a response to THAT comment which would be calling him out on his on imbecilic comment

  • Democratic Fascism is the name of the game ... better believe it, our vote is little more than a piece of paper. Better take the fight to parliament hill itself

  • ♥ this yes, MAY THE VOTE BE WITH YOU

  • hahahaha I LOVE these young kids.. I have 3 of my own.. May the vote be with you.. You ALL Rock..

  • This is AMAZING guys!!! Keep it up and Harper will be running for the hills!!!!!!

  • Canadian Universities Woot Woot!

  • @diehardsweetheart I can't speak for that event, but I was at the Guelph event where several people were let in and then asked to leave. Don't jump to conclusions yourself. These are sad realities that will hopefully be remedied before the end of campaigning.

  • @naturalhero LOL, are you referring to when Harper was at Guelph? I heard that he basically has no tolerance for opposition. I.e. he doesn't allow for anyone who might not support him and his less-than-democratic practices near him on the campaign. He reminds me of the Chinese government. Over in China, everything is fine and dandy until you say something bad about the government. Next time, you are *POOF* gone. who knows where you disappear off to. I be Harper wishes he could do the same

  • Comment removed

  • i am not voting... jk lol great video!

  • Excellent video!!! Hope this will inspire students to make informed choices...and get out there and vote!!!!Thank you to all that organized and participated in this event!!!

    Well Done!!!

  • @nickelsmine000 Thanks!!

  • Harper will win the majority whether you like it or not. Im not his biggest fan and I admire what the NDP tries to do. But lets be realistic. The 300 million is essentially the opposition parties fault because they all wanted this election. The problem is liberals are idealists. No one really gives a shit about your constant whining about how the rest of us should just accept everything and tolerate everything. At least Harper gives a shit about canada, i.e. tarsands, army, arctic. so reply!

  • @HipHopiz4Real Yeah he sure "gives a shit" about Canadians when he prevents them from attending his campaign stops.

  • @naturalhero oh please that never happened. I was at the conservative rally where those 2 muslims were 'supposedly' not allowed in because of NDP signs in their car. Never happened, stop being so brainwashed.

  • @HipHopiz4Real 1) It is Harper who is idealistic: he operates a conservative revolution which consists in reducing democracy's importance. A) He prorogates the chamber of deputies for no reason. B) He uses money to promote his ideology by nominating creationist people (AKA : GARY GOODYEAR, the minister of SCIENCE is a creationist) C) He uses our money to triple the cost of prisons. D) He buys planes which won't be used (The last time our planes were used was in 1990).

  • @BonneNuitLoki you forgot that Harper also fires individuals who speak about actual facts ...

  • 2) It Harper who is responsible for the elections. A) If you take a glance at what he promises now for Canadians, you can see that he PREDICTED that the government would be toppled. B) We have elections now because the conservative party is accused of insulting the Parlement (because the Conservative Party REFUSED TO REVEAL HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST FOR PRISONS IN THE BUDGET)

  • 3) If Harper gave shit about Canada, he would stop destroying its international image. A) John Baird clearly said that ecological problems were minor (it is a PROVED thing that the consequences of discharging CO2 will cause big problems). B) The result is: we're no more in the G20!

    4) ALSO : giving shit about Canada means giving shit about its people. Harper doesn't care about Canadians when he cuts taxes for big companies. He doesn't care about Canadians when he cuts cultural investments. ETC.

  • @HipHopiz4Real and here I thought the charge of Contempt of Parlement may have something to do with it ??? or do you think the vast majority of Canadians are stupid enough to accept "you win some you lose some " as an acceptable response to the charge?

  • This is great, I think this should happen in every town the political leaders visit. They need to understand that Canada's youth will decide the future.

  • Harper is a nazi and the conservative party are like the SS and gestapo

  • @awinlove

that is just plain retarded. How is Harper and the conservative party anything like the Nazis? See that's why all you liberals, NDPers, Bloc, and Green (the biggest joke of them all) do not stand a chance. All your bleeding hearts say you want change, that we are not a democracy, which is funny in itself because only in a democracy can you say that!. You really think Ignatieff will give you the money for schools? please. At least Harper is realistic and pragmatic enough

  • @HipHopiz4Real Harper's not a Nazi, and Iggy's not a communist.

Now can we all just get along and talk policy? Thanks.

  • @loughtog Iggy's definitely not a communist. They're both nazi's. Vote Green!

  • @HipHopiz4Real I bet you don't even listen to real hip hop like Wu-Tang, use a fool mang, I'll do this in a language you understand, since ur wisdom lacks what it is to see his plan, his agenda's go unrecognized by the blind, can't you see liberty and freedoms being taken from you one at a time, It's some subtle neo-nazi shit, they screening your facebook to see if your allowed in, with a majority gov't lets see how far you get, think clear military budget increase by 25% over the next 20 yrs

  • Whatever happend to our peace keepers, you may as well give us a meat cleaver, we as just as bad as the U.S native genocide has lead to our governments success and it's not just harper our land should be given back to the natives the real ones who were always blessed and that's real, so go be a yes man your probably a robot who comply's with our rulers every demand

  • @awinlove

why should we give the land back to the natives? so they can leach off of us more? So they can drink and huff their days away? Peace keeping? I'm sorry we're fresh out of that. If countries could start becoming more civilized instead of tribal maybe we could peacekeep. Until than Our troops and UN people need guns. And the authority to use them.

  • @HipHopiz4Real It would present as a more convincing argument if you had clearly considered both sides of the coin. The land belonged to the natives. We came in and we took it away. We polluted the lands they depend on. We took their children and tortured them in schools with nuns that beat and insult them since they were kids. Then we do that again, to their children's children.

  • Respond to this video... (to continue) We lied to them, and our own citizens about certain areas of contamination that caused towns to experience high rates of cancer. Our government was responsible for putting in the policy that explicitly stated the desire to erase the native culture and wipe them out. What do you think happens when you rob a population of their identity and self worth? They substance abuse. We have a responsibility to address that as a nation.

  • Respond to this video...I hope you are young and just haven't had the chance to learn about this. Maybe you had the unfortunate experience of living near Indian reserves and seeing first hand their inability to contribute to our society. But after that destruction, there's a lot of healing that has to happen before that can happen. I hope you are just too young to have learned any of this.

  • @awinlove

at least we will have a decent military instead of outdated equipment and supplies. That can ensure our troops have the finest in gear to properly do their jobs instead of having to worry about one of their planes or helicopters breaking down. If you look at the music i posted youll see its "real" enough for ya. As if people are still going on about some girl that didn't get let in, thats not on harper, thats some overzealous staffer or aid that works for the party. ya daft cunt.

  • @HipHopiz4Real "daft cunt", check yo self punk ass bitch, for your ignorance I would like to snatch you up and give you to the brothers on Jane and Finch so they could have their way with you. Oh and the native comment you made was racist, I know a couple mohawks that would scalp you for that. You probably some punk ass University student that thinks he has enough life experience and wisdom to make such comments. Our troops and UN need guns?, clueless u r, go do some research son!!

  • @awinlove

hahahaha check yo self, what a joke. see thats what i hate about many liberals. everything someone says is "ohhh that's racist" or "ohhh that's so ignorant and intolerant". I'm racist? yet you imply that mohawks still like to scalp people...hmm interesting. So tell me "son" why shouldn't the UN guys that just got massacred at their compound not have weapons or training? At least daft cunt is a good swear, I'm sorry I don't speak ghetto talk.

  • @HipHopiz4Real Who said I am liberal lil beeatch and your comment was racist to suggest all natives are like that. Let the UN guys get massacred they shouldn't be there anyway and daft cunt, come on you can do better than that patrick

  • @HipHopiz4Real Ignatieff is a politician. All politicians in my mind should be questioned and put under scrutiny. But compared to Harper, and I am not a fan of Ignatieff, but compared to Harper, he's way better.

  • @cxz789 To be honest, the only people I can picture being worse than Harper, are Charles McVety and maybe the Communist Party (I say "maybe" because I haven't had any experience with them).

  • Well done! Great to see students saying they will vote! Young are the lowest voting population. I always shake my head at those who complain...but don't get involved. Get informed and vote! Perhaps the Liberal's platform has encouraged interest with the little boost to students (works out to about $350 more a year after other education programs are cut when the new proposed program is initiated--so beware of the numbers given in the red book). Read the fine print...and get informed & vote

  • Im very surprised the banner didn't rip when you pulled it open, I would have laughed and cried if it did :P

  • now that people are voting.. we just need to get them to become informed about who they are voting for... be informed or don't vote at all

  • @jamiejamiejamiejamie B.s. Man. Just vote liberal or green :P hahaha

  • @Doidlethedigger in the end, my vote will likely go to the strongest non-conservative party.. i don't want to contribute to another conservative minority

  • yes yes yessss! Great job!

  • That's an awful lot of young voters!!! Maybe someone should pay attention to them in this electoral campaign?!!

  • AWESOME!

  • So much fun to be a part of this, and it was such a valuable message. I only hope that it didn't fall upon deaf ears. Its about time young people started to get involved in politics again! Let this election be the first in an upward trend.

  • so pumped to vote!

  • suprise Steven!...Steven? oh, you're uh...you're not comming out of your bus....

  • Woot! The video came together nicely! It was so much fun to be part of this. I hope the other youth in Canada step up to the challenge: VOTE MAY 2nd!!

  • Not only was this a fun time, it let everyone know just how passionate students can be about politics and that, YES WE ARE VOTING!

I hope Stephen Harper enjoyed his surprise party ;)

  • The government hands over $160 million dollars of tax payer money to private banks everyday to pay them for money that the government allows them to create out of nothing even though the government could do this themselves and use all our tax dollars on the citizens, but would rather have a national debt and debt based economy. We should be throwing them out of office and into jails not telling them we are going to elect someone else to sell us out.

  • I take my hat off to these students. You all set a great example for not only the youth but also the adults who abuse our hard-won right to vote! They should take responsiblity and use their voices while they still can and never take anything for granted.

  • I can see myself at 0:27 how exciting. I love Guelph!

  • Well done Guelph!! This video needs to be sent to every student union in the Country.

  • Awesome! Great job guelph, keep it up!

  • Amazing amazing AMAZING job yet again U of G! Man am I ever going to miss this community when I graduate!

    We Will Vote!

  • Get out there and VOTE!! Many people are dying around the globe because they are fighting for a democracy. We already have it. All we have to do is get informed and go out there and VOTE! Take advantage of that.
