As a coloratura soprano, I can tell you that our voices aren't nearly as big as those dramatic and lyric sopranos. It doesn't mean that she's not as good as other sopranos.
BTW, as one of the Sumi fans who has heard her singing so many times, I've never thought her voice is small. It could be small in comparison with some of the really large-volume singers. But I'd like to say hers is kinda "small" but rich for sure - so it's enough to reach to the farthest seats from the stage in any opera houses or concert halls (at least those I've ever been in).
IMO, light (not dark) and clear voice doesn't necessarily mean "small". Just my thought..
There are other videos of Jo's Caro Nome on YouTube. Considering them together with this low-quality videoclip, I would like to rate this 5/5. Thanks for posting this, Coloraturafan. (I just wondered how you could get all those videos..that's truly amazing!)
Sumi Jo can be a great singer, and this was her prime. I doubt that she could still fill the met with this role. I could be wrong? When I saw her Lucia a couple years back, her voice seemed to be rather small. 5/4
It is a smaller voice. She used to be better about projection, but these days it becomes hard to hear her live (my voice teacher and his wife have sung with her and have mentioned her voice being a bit small).
Like Gruberova's, a lovely, girlish, and sensitive performance. Technically accomplished singing, though her trills are not quite so good as Gruberova's. Still...5/5
Hermoso timbre de voz..

@Lareto
I hope you can distinguish between large pebbles and small diamonds...
Size is one of the more remote factors for people listening to recordings 98% of the time, quality means a lot more there.

I did say that having a small voice is not a bad thing. I think she's very good, but she's never been my favorite singer.

Not a great recording but worth the listen 4/4.

I never said he did. Having a small voice is not a bad thing. I do believe she was much better in this video than she is now though.

I think this is a very competent performance. 5/4

Is this in a lower key or is she singing flat (or am I wrong)? Something is wrong with it although she's in good voice. 3/3

Perhaps not very individual, but beautifully sung. 4.5/4.5

She's never had a very large voice. One of those pretty small voices. Oh, 4/3 for Sumi. Good, but not as some of the others.

Her voice is small? It doesn't sound small in this recording!! Maybe in an opera house but not here!!!
Or am I wrong!!

Her leggerio voice isn't the most colorful or unique, but her singing is truly lovely here, especially the delicate pianis. 4/ 3.5

Sumi Jo is a good artist with a solid foundation. What is good here is very good. What is bad, is not distracting. 4/4

Personally I find her low register feeble and the phrasing a bit boring. 4/2
