OH, neat. Tome4. I remember back when TOME was still called Pernangband, and didn't abandon the old ASCII based design. Not that graphics are bad. :)

I've tried the newer version, but when I did, it still had some random insane glitches, and monsters spawning with way too powerful weapons way too early.

Hey Jef, Seeing how you liked the equipments showing up on your character and stuff, have you tried Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup? The title set is pretty nice and it's quite a bit closer to the classic rogue like formula.

Hey jefmajor - don't know if anyone mentioned it, the Summary screen at 5:08 isn't wrong... It just shows the net effect upon your character for the stats and talents that you chose during level up!

Huh, no-one has mentioned the differences between runes and infusions yet. Basically not much. Some of the unlockable races can't use infusions, and there's a skill tree you can unlock during games that stops you using runes. Using a rune/infusion shortly after having used a different one gives it a longer cool down, but not if one was an infusion and the other a rune. Runes cover doing things and infusions altering your character generally.

As much as I find Dwaf Fortress and Caves of Qud confusing to look at, watching this is actually beginning to make me think that non-ascii graphics actually make the believability of it suffer. It's somehow weirder to see a perfectly drawn man flying around the screen than it is to see an ascii character in the shape of an @ logo doing it.

I played a few games of this as the elven races before. Something worth noting is this game has surprisingly fantastic music. The crystal cave area you start in as one of the elves sounds amazing, as does the forest for the other elf species.

Tome has sure made headway to a larger audience. It's too bad that means leaving out some of the best stuff in previous versions or other variants. I miss the crazy classes like the blue mage who can only learn spells that the enemy throws at him, or the thaumaturgist that gets the most powerful destructive spells - only they're random. Or the races like the molds and fungus races that can only move by teleporting.

The thaumaturgist and teleporting deathmold is from TOME 2.3.9. The thaumaturgist is from "Hengband". Lots of different angband out there...
