I'm really tired of people trying to push their original songwriting in gear reviews. its too genre specific please upload a video of more widespread applications. I'm tired of hearing only country or rap with the TChelicon. maybe get an "A capella" artist just singing some scales. That's all I need, I don't need to hear your original songs, I don't need to hear any more pink songs. I just need to hear relative change in pitches/layers/etc.
I loved this demo. I have Voicetone Create XT and I loved the Hall reverb effect used in the song at 3:00. Could you please tell if such an effect could be achieved with Voicetone Create XT's presets and tweaking. If so, what are rough settings?
LIKELIKELIKELIKELIKE....funny, I came here to check out the Harmony GTX (which I just bought today and it's AWESOME!!!) but by happy accident I found Laura Clapp. 'Pray' made me, well, want to pray. Just beautiful. I am a new fan of Laura (and, of the GXT naturally). I am officially inspired.
Does the harmony GXT have a hard tune/auto tune effect as well? What about pitch correction? I'm trying to find a product that has all 3 if possible, harmony, hard tune, and pitch correction. If that's not available, whats the best product to get as close to all 3 in one? I just want it to mess around at home and have fun... im not a serious performer by any means.. thanks a lot!! love all your videos!!
@bnussaib Hiya, The recent upgrade to Harmony-G XT does contain subtle autochromatic pitch correction, however it doesn't contain the HardTune effect.
To have all these options available your best bet would be either the VoiceLive Touch or VoiceLive 2. You could also check out the VoiceTone Singles - a combination of the H1 and C1 might be exactly what you're after.
Check them out on our website or at your local TC-Helicon dealer for more info.
@jPapa2008 Hiya, Unfortunately I don't know what string Laura is using in this video. However, it is true that the Harmony-G XT can do pitch correction, doubling and harmony at the same time :).
@tchelicon Harmony-G XT can do pitch correction, doubling and harmony at the same time,Please tell me how ,and how to update pitch correct function? thanks
does this effect the guitar in anyway? Because I have some really important presets for my special "swampy" ccr tone. I would like to add the g xt for a more full vocal sound but I can't risk it effecting my current presets.
@mrlandroverdiscovery Hiya, No - this won't affect your guitar in any way at all. You can always use the guitar thru connection on the Harmony-G XT if you would like to use your own effects instead of the ones contained in the unit.
I have another pitch question for you, that I really hope can be answered:
I have started experimenting with frequencies and have really come to like e standard at 451hz.. The problem is that the pedal produces harmonies at 440hz, although they are close because it recognizes every note simply as if I were tuned to e sharp, it's not entirely correct and I'm anal about pitch.
There were some directions in the manual to aid in tuning the pedal but my wits would appear to evade me :\
@MindOfPagan Hiya, Have you tried adjusting the tuning reference as described in the manual? In this case, you will need to tune your guitar to the desired reference pitch first and then hold the Manual, Double and FX buttons simultaneously as you plug in the power adapter. Then, play a note from your guitar into your microphone and the unit will automatically adjust to this reference pitch until powered up again. Hope this helps!
I read a comment regarding tuning to E flat.. I play in e flat as well. Will my Harmony G XT be usefull in E flatt.. or do I need to tune to E and use the built in tuner in the Harmony G. Thanks
@fiscorbrook Hiya, The Harmony-G XT will work fine in E Flat. You can still use the Harmony-G XT as normal regardless of any altered guitar tuning you may use.
@tchelicon I don't know about this - maybe in theory it should work, but it didn't seem too work when I was tuned down 1/2 step and plugged in. Output was all 'wobbly' and the harmonies were off. Tuned back up and it's dead on. That being said - I was skeptical about this (Harmony G-XT) and literally within 5 minutes of using it was blown away. It really does work great, but in my experience - only when 'standard' tuned. So, that's what I do now. :)

as for the pitch corrector I read on the manual that instruments have to be tuned in 440 hz in order to make it work properly, does this include also when you use it withput the guitar plugged in? cause I don't wanna use it with the guitar, and our intruments are tuned in E flat, yet I'd really appretiate a pirch correction live, is it possibile with this?
@chojinkid Hiya, The main reason you need to be tuned to 440hz is that this is the reference for the automatic pitch correction in general. This is regardless of whether a guitar is being used or not. When tuned to E-Flat you are still tuned in theory to A=440, it’s just that your instrument is tuned down a half step. Therefore, there is no change to the actual tuning reference.
@chojinkid Hiya, You're very welcome :). The subtle pitch correction on the Harmony-G XT is the same algorithm as used in the VoiceTone Correct XT - However, it is just one specific preset on the Harmony-G XT and it's not adjustable in any way (on or off). It's worth mentioning though, that the Correct XT and the Harmony-G XT make a fantastic pair if adjustable pitch correction is a feature you're specifically after :).
@UncleJoey12 Hiya, Yes the guitar is indeed plugged into the Harmony-G XT here. In this way it intelligently creates the harmonies on the fly as Laura's singing - taking the musical information it needs straight from the guitar in real time. However, you could also set a key or a scale if you don't want to have a guitar connected.
Hi Laura Great Presentations..... Looking for a Tips as far as Hooking Up... the Harmony G and mY Boss RC-20XL..... I Try the thru on the Hormony G ,,, and sent that to ,,, in-put on the Boss... and then Out to the Mixer and Nada....Zip.... Kaput.. Help?? Thnks
@777i2i Hiya, There is no gender control on the Harmony-G XT - however, it is worth mentioning that harmonies of a lower nature will tend to sound more "male" anyway. This is also the case for higher vocals sounding more "female".
Hey, I'm having problems hearing my second harmonies... basically, the only audible one is that which is under Voice 1. Whenever I turn on Voice 2 it only adds the sound of thickness (Selecting two different harmonies, of course).
@MindOfPagan Hiya, You might want to get in touch with TC-Helicon's support department via the support section of our website so they can help you troubleshoot this.
I have a recording studio and I tryed using this with a vocal I already had in a computer. The singer had poor vocal tune so I first tuned them and from one computer passed it through a tube direct box but with the harmony helicon in automatic. It did not sound very good. What is the best way to give voices harmony to this with already recored vocals?
@rolandsdisc HIya, Did you set the key or scale as releant to the song? If not, the harmonies may end up sounding "off" in comparison to the music. You could also feed a guitar chord track through the guitar input for automatic tuning results. The harmony generation is not based on the tuning of the lead singer - it is more based on the reference you set the harmonies to respond to (guitar / key / scale).
@Nunsweepit421 Hiya, Simply connect the output of the Harmony-G XT to the input of the RC-50 and you are good to go! You'd just need to connect the RC50 to a compatible interface for recording.
HI i am a guitarist my vocals are poor. does the harmony g xt tune my vocal to the guitar, will it make my singing sound better. Also what can you download through the usb. Thanx
@gazzappa Hiya, The Harmony-G XT will certainly help improve your vocals. It does include some subtle pitch correction as well as the harmony functions. The USB is there for accessing updates via the VoiceSupport application.
@daveboyblues Hiya, Yes, this would be the case. However, you need to be sure to give enough informaion to the unit for it to be able to determine the chord you are playing (root, 3rd, 7th - if required etc).
thank you so much for your help, one last question, can the g harmony xt work for recording? i mean can you use it with Pro logic or pro tools? what would you need to do that?
@thicknick27 Hiya, Yes you could use the Harmony-G XT for recording but you will need to send the outputs to a stereo pair of input channels on your soundcard. It is up to you whether you record directly through the unit or record your vocal dry and add the effect later. To add later you will need to send the pre-recorded vocal track out of the DAW (via line) and into the Harmony-G XT. Then you can record the result onto a new stereo track.
beutifull voice! I just bought the harmonizer and I love the sound. I play alot of songs with a capo, how can i add harmony's for song's in different keys? i also play alot of songs in E flat or 1/2 step down... thanks in advance
@thicknick27 Hiya, The Harmony-G XT will still track harmonies fine whether you're using a capo or an alternative guitar tuning. You also have the option to manually set a key or scale if you wish :).
@tchelicon. Hi, TY again for the support. I played a solo gig two nights ago with the G-XT for the first time... Outstanding! (even though I just used one preset, two voices a 3rd up) But I used double alot besides the harmonies. Next question; for recording vocals (hard disk 16 track home recorder) Can I use the GXT without the guitar signal? In manual mode? I didn't find any recording tips in the manual, Thanks, Scott M in MIchigan.
@sdmc222 Hiya Scott, yes, you can record with the Harmony-G XT without guitar. You will need to set key and scale for this to work though :). You would just need to plug the outputs into a stereo input on the recorder.
@harrywebbbb Hiya, Glad you enjoyed Laura's video - I'll certainly pass that onto her :). As our products are not genre specific, you should be able to find effects and harmony that make sense and are usable on the 50's style of music you perform with many of our products. The Harmony-G XT is a good choice, and if you're after more effects you may cnsider pairing it up with a Create XT.
@harrywebbbb Alternatively, you could go with the VoiceLive 2 which should give you everything you could possibly need with exceptional control over pretty much every parameter. It's important to mention that our pedals are designed for one voice only, as specifically harmony functions may not have the desired effect.
For more information, do check out all the products available on the TC-Helicon website.
@lowgitek Hiya, To control your harmonies via guitar with VoiceWorks Plus you will need the "Harmony Control" pedal which is available seperately through your local TC-Helicon dealer.
@bf4e11 Hiya, If you're using the Harmony-G XT without a guitar, then you will need to set a key/scale so it has some kind of musical information to know what you want it to harmonise to. The harmonise work and sound great like this too!
Unfortunately its very bad 4 tchelicons having only people like Laura Clap and Tom Lang who have similar musical styles like Country and Rock, that are old fashion and auto of date.Since music is been taken 2 PCs, there is billions of music producer around the world in every street in every corner, who pursuit music and definitely are less identified by this styles. The tchelicons could do better recruiting also different musical style performers and show why tchelicons can be good on studio to
@jozada0051 Heya, Thanks for your feedback. Out of interest, which musical style/s would you like to hear this unit demonstrated in more? If you search YouTube, you'll find a whole host of different people using our products in all sorts of different genres of music :).
why cant i get such a clean sound. I never get mine to sound right with strong vocals... i do not have my guitar running though it because my dog chewed my extra cord... is that a going to make a huge difference? thanks!
@RTLippy Hiya, Getting the harmonies to sound smooth is dependant on how you are using the pedal. If you have no guitar running through the unit then I presume you are using a fixed key and scale for harmony generation. Is this the case? Adding a guitar to the mix gives you much more flexibility in harmonies as most songs use more than one diatonic scale.
You can simply choose what harmony setting you want and then kick in the harmonies via the footswitch when you want them.
The Harmony-G XT specifically works with guitar, but if you're wanting to trigger the harmonies with keyboard/midi you might want to check out the VoiceTone Harmony-M or the VoiceLive 2.
do you have to run your guitar thru the pedal? If not will the harmony`s still sound as good.I play in a classic rock cover band and I worry that my electric guitar tone would be altered.I am very partivular. But I am very interested in the harmony capabilities of this pedal.
You would either have to have your guitar going into the Harmony-G XT or set a key or scale so that it knows what to harmonise to musically. However, you need not worry about your guitar tone being affected as you'd simply use the "THRU" option then out to your guitar amp.
Yes, you can definitely use this in the studio! The Harmony4 would also do the job but it's an older product which doesn't contain the extra goodies the Harmony-G XT offers (doubling, new reverbs, natural play quality harmonies etc).
The Harmony-G XT has just started to hit stores this week. We can't comment on reatail pricing as we are not the retailers - but, you can find a list of "where to buy" on our website if this helps at all :).
USB connectivity to add new features??? Say it ain't so Joey! I knew when they discounted the old HarmonyG something was up! Will they add Hard tuning to the XT?
The USB connection is present on XT so that you can download software updates and new features etc. At this point there are no plans I am aware of to introduce hard tuning to the Harmony-G XT.
The first units will be shipping from TC Helicon warehouses to dealers at the end of November, so, expect to see the Harmony-G XT in store and online within the first couple of weeks of December.

@sdmc222 Hiya, The best way to do this would be to run your guitar through the Harmony-G XT first and then out via the "guitar thru" to your FX unit.

@tchelicon Thanks a bunch. I actually just figured that out with some trial and error. Thanks for the confirmation.

I didn't find any recording tips in the manual, Thanks, Scott M in MIchigan.
sdmc222 1 year ago
@sdmc222 Hiya Scott, yes, you can record with the Harmony-G XT without guitar. You will need to set key and scale for this to work though :). You would just need to plug the outputs into a stereo input on the recorder.

good day laura love the vids,
i sing in a 50s type band and the lads backing me up sound kind of alright but kind of off putting at time when singing in the wrong key/flat.
i would like a unit best suited to me/the band.
1st of all nice echo and pitch control for me and kind of the same for the guys but
keep my settings on my channel on the desk and keep their sound for them.
me solo and when they sing let them use the harmony s
like blue moon or good night sweet heart that old 50s sound ?
harrywebbbb 1 year ago
@harrywebbbb Hiya, Glad you enjoyed Laura's video - I'll certainly pass that onto her :). As our products are not genre specific, you should be able to find effects and harmony that make sense and are usable on the 50's style of music you perform with many of our products. The Harmony-G XT is a good choice, and if you're after more effects you may cnsider pairing it up with a Create XT.
tchelicon 1 year ago
@harrywebbbb Alternatively, you could go with the VoiceLive 2 which should give you everything you could possibly need with exceptional control over pretty much every parameter. It's important to mention that our pedals are designed for one voice only, as specifically harmony functions may not have the desired effect.
For more information, do check out all the products available on the TC-Helicon website.

does it possible with voiceworks plus? If yes how? does it need guitar connected via midi interface?
Thanks
lowgitek 1 year ago
@lowgitek Hiya, To control your harmonies via guitar with VoiceWorks Plus you will need the "Harmony Control" pedal which is available seperately through your local TC-Helicon dealer.

So what if you are a singer that doesn't play an instrument? Do the harmonies work as well?
bf4e11 1 year ago
@bf4e11 Hiya, If you're using the Harmony-G XT without a guitar, then you will need to set a key/scale so it has some kind of musical information to know what you want it to harmonise to. The harmonise work and sound great like this too!

Unfortunately its very bad 4 tchelicons having only people like Laura Clap and Tom Lang who have similar musical styles like Country and Rock, that are old fashion and auto of date.Since music is been taken 2 PCs, there is billions of music producer around the world in every street in every corner, who pursuit music and definitely are less identified by this styles. The tchelicons could do better recruiting also different musical style performers and show why tchelicons can be good on studio to
jozada0051 1 year ago
@jozada0051 Heya, Thanks for your feedback. Out of interest, which musical style/s would you like to hear this unit demonstrated in more? If you search YouTube, you'll find a whole host of different people using our products in all sorts of different genres of music :).

why cant i get such a clean sound. I never get mine to sound right with strong vocals... i do not have my guitar running though it because my dog chewed my extra cord... is that a going to make a huge difference? thanks!
RTLippy 1 year ago
@RTLippy Hiya, Getting the harmonies to sound smooth is dependant on how you are using the pedal. If you have no guitar running through the unit then I presume you are using a fixed key and scale for harmony generation. Is this the case? Adding a guitar to the mix gives you much more flexibility in harmonies as most songs use more than one diatonic scale.
Hope this helps.

does this work without a guitar or setting manually a scale? I mean, can it recognize the note you are singing and give you a 5th below for example?
thx!

LAURA....... tell TC to make a harmony M XT AS WELL dont forget us keyboardists
mysticradio 1 year ago
@mysticradio you should really check out the VoiceLive 2 ;)
MageMagix 1 year ago
Hiya,
You can simply choose what harmony setting you want and then kick in the harmonies via the footswitch when you want them.

109gtbob 2 years ago
Hiya,
You would either have to have your guitar going into the Harmony-G XT or set a key or scale so that it knows what to harmonise to musically. However, you need not worry about your guitar tone being affected as you'd simply use the "THRU" option then out to your guitar amp.

Can you use this to cut harmonies in your studio or would the TC-Helicon Harmony4be better?
jamiesea 2 years ago
Hiya,
Yes, you can definitely use this in the studio! The Harmony4 would also do the job but it's an older product which doesn't contain the extra goodies the Harmony-G XT offers (doubling, new reverbs, natural play quality harmonies etc).

When is the Harmony G XT going to be for sale and what's the street price going to be (Not MSRP. We all know that's not the REAL price)?
photocat37 2 years ago
Hiya,
The Harmony-G XT has just started to hit stores this week.

Rosebud
MsRoseCarmel 2 years ago
Hiya Rosebud,
The USB connection is present on XT so that you can download software updates and new features etc. At this point there are no plans I am aware of to introduce hard tuning to the Harmony-G XT.
