  • not saying it specifically about this one, but does anyone else think ray has too many supplies when he tries to "survive"? and that wasnt sarcasm, i rather like this show

  • YEAA BOYY philippines baby xD manny pac man bicth LOL

  • Holy shit that island at 1:18 looks like the one from lord of the flies, it has the mountain and that little stone castle peninsula

  • Technically, if it's in the tropics, how could it be a "desert" island? I believe the correct term is "deserted" or am I just being an asshole?

  • @superhornet69 Desert Island, meaning an island with no drinkable water.

  • @Cypher1X ...Thank you for the clarification...Semper Fi, carry on.

  • I wanna go there! and stay here !

  • @mprefero just go indonesia. all the desert islands you can eat.

  • wow philippines!

  • @bvbob1 Use rigid, brittle and smooth surface stone and file it against a bigger stone (with tiny holes) to cause friction and turn the brittle stone into a sharper spear or use wood and thread and turn it into a knife and keep improving it...

These survival guys just don't have time to do that every episode, besides Rey might kill himself missing a meal or Bear would have to eat his own shit and drink his own piss every episode!

  • When I heard: ''voices'' (music) at 1:08... I know this video will be amazing.

  • WILSON!!!!!

  • Thanks a lot RitchiePowell for uploading. Proving that there are still a few kind people out there who appreciate survival and the wilderness as much I do! :)

  • Ray Mears is number one for me he is the master of bushcraft but must admit dual survival with Cody and Dave Canterbury, is a real hit with me and love both their channels here on youtube .

  • id give my left nut to go somewhere like this. stunning

  • In my opinion, Bear Grylls view of survival is, jump off shit, risk breaking an ankle, drink piss, do backflips.

Les Stroud, is more like "Average joe trying to survive", using everything he can to better his situation.

And Ray Mears, gives alot of great advice and knows what he's doing more than the other two, but doesn't really try to survive himself.

That said, I prefer Survivorman, but this is a close second.

  • @DemoticVEVO I contain the same opinions towards the three men. I love Les because he is more of a realist than Bear. Ray and Les are a tie and my mind, although Ray provides more information than the Bear and Les

  • @DemoticVEVO i prefer dual survival.

  • @DemoticVEVO Les is an idiot

  • @DemoticVEVO

    I agree.

  • @DemoticVEVO

Bear Grylls is my hero, my scout leader of the world never ever say that RAY MEARS is better than him.

  • @DemoticVEVO i agree bear is just a moneymaker

les is pur realistic and ray explains everythng in details

les and ray would b cool as duo survival XD

  • @lands3r not a chance in hell Les is all tv magic as well, he was previously some kind of hippie indie singer/performer when not shooting the show he sleeps in a tent with one of his 3 girlfriends the only one of the 3 that is worth half a shit is Ray

  • 1:03 what is that song anyone know?

  • @richard2mitchell Dario G Feat.Vanessa Quinones - Voices , from the movie: The beach

  • Cool when these guys talk about the psychological factors

  • we like ike

  • they can use rock to open a coconut

  • is it just me or do all the survival guys have a knife when they start shows? there not really helping because what is the chance of having a knife?

  • great stuff.

good tune by "nightmares on wax" at 2:23

    thanks.

  • Does anybody know the title of the song that starts at 3:45?

  • @redevel

I think it's on the soundtrack of the beach but by far the best song on the soundtrack is

    youtube.com/watch?v=LICXQwycw0I

    you may also like

    youtube.com/watch?v=-QfVRia4dAY

  • @reefcut

those links dont seem to work

  • @redevel

You need to click on any youtube video and then copy and paste the 'link' I gave after the w w w. as youtube does not allow full links in the comments.

  • @redevel

obviously this needs to be done in the address bar and then enter hit afterwards.

  • @reefcut

lol I know that, but they still dont work

  • @redevel

youtube have changed something, link sharing doesnt work anymore! goddamit. 8 ball underworld, and Nightmares On Wax - Les Nuits

  • @reefcut thanks!

  • Id bring megan fox

  • id bring a boat...

  • "this would be a threatening place if you were cast away here for real" lol NAAHHH. Make a bunch of water stills, bamboo/ palm huts can be constructed in a day, they will suffice while you build a more permanent structure from larger trees/ rocks, those waters are literally teaming with edible sea life....

  • you know ray looks like a young benny hill. not a racial slur since im full on british

  • If Bear Grylls and Ray Mears were in front of me saying stick with me if you wanna live, I'd go with Ray.

Bear is just an actor, Ray loves this stuff

  • you do not need a knife to open a coconut you just simply bang them with a stone few times in order to peel the outer skin

  • the problem is ray mears is equipped with all kinds of things ... but bear grllys just has a knife and his firesteel ...

  • @chabi3000

    I quote

"Preparation was the key to survival"

The point of bushcraft is to have minimal supplies, but to still feel comfortable- Not running around 24/7.

Bushcraft vs. Survival. There's a difference.

  • so all you need is basically a rambo knife and a flint... -.-

  • thnx for uploading this ray is so awesome. i subbed

  • damn he is 1 lucky sob id love to be on an island like that.

  • why does everyone argue between bear grylls and les stroud? they both suck in comparison to ray. les can barely feed himself and is constantly paranoid about mountain lions and bear brings a packed lunch with him and gives the opposite of survival advice. ray actually has the skill and knowledge to show you how to do it right and succesfully. if u were stranded with ray, ud actually live comfortably!

  • @rockstarJDP I agree with that. Les nearly starves to death on every episode, Bear is like a stuntman, and Ray seems to have the most genuine knowledge of these situations.

  • @bwaller1974 definitely :)

  • i wanna stuck by island together with ray ;-)

  • This music was used in The Beach!!

  • Tune playing through the majority is Dario G Feat.Vanessa Quinones - Voices from the film The Beach just in case anyone wants to know. RP, thanks for putting all these up! Watched nearly all of them now, brilliant

  • it would be great if the law allowed us to carry machetes so if we get lost we can survive. Heck it would be great if we could carry knives in Australia.

  • Nasty homophobic comments, what's that about?

Most of these Ray Mears vids are not synchronized which is a shame, otherwise very good, thanks for posting them : >

  • Ray's skills make up for his being overweight.

  • isnt it called a deserted island?? :?(

  • beautiful place

  • wow hes gotta have the best life ever =) i would love to do something like this =)

  • Ray is such a poof. he sucks. BEAR ALL THE WAY!!! Look at him swimming in his little 4 year old trunks XD. Stop talking about the places where you are going and do some survivng.

  • @fudgelord67 Totally agree...poof!

  • @fudgelord67

YEAH! Ray Sucks! He doesnt book into hotels like Bear! Bear is such a badass, He can afford 5 star hotels.

  • Ray is such a poof. he sucks. BEAR ALL THE WAY!!!

  • The only issue I see with this series is that if someone got stranded on an island like this they would have most of the things that Ray Mears has. I definitely wouldn't have a machete with me. But I love the vids!

  • O' Ray my left leg's gone! A wild cats attacted and I lost it.. lol That what might happen if you arrive at night not knowing the area

  • Ray Mears is Great!

  • " i love arriving in wild places at night" - ray mears

hahah words of a true man

  • This is how it is done. Grylls is a buffoon.

  • cool video!!!

  • i wonder who would preform better in a real life situation out of bear les or ray hmmm???

  • Ray mears of course thats my opinion:D

  • all three of the survivalists, Bear Grylls, Ray Mears, and Les Stroud, have their differences in their shows. Man vs. wild is more for those who make the descision to move. Survivorman is for those who want to stay or just move a little bit. Ray Mears is more like for those who just want to know and get information. order of most equipment to least: Ray Mears, Survivorman, Bear Grylls. more (obvious) danger, Bear Grylls, Survivorman, Ray Mears.

  • @ gokucrazy22. Very well put! Thumbs up!

  • Yeah well put. But you also missed out (maybe due to text limit :P) the essential ethos behind each survivalist. I am biased towards Ray and Les. Ray not only shows survival skills but the skills of the Peoples, he does his research and presents the ethics of survival and its heritage to the audience. Les puts himself in real survival situations with likely equipment and shares his own knowlege (even openly admitting it may not be the right way to do things or if he makes a mistake). Bear...

  • @gokucrazy22 100% agree, they are all good survivalists and demand respect =P

  • @gokucrazy22

Some might disagree, Survivorman does his own filming. Bear has the crew with him.

  • @5erhio the camera crew with Bear enables him to travel the best. Les can't really climb a cliff while carrying cameras so his show is more suited for staying.

  • @gokucrazy22 Bear grylls has no danger. he doesnt sleep in the wild. He has a full camera crew with him at all times and they help him with manu aspects of survival such as food and shelter.

  • @gokucrazy22 i like bear grylls the best !

  • @gokucrazy22 Man vs. Wild is for TV watchers looking to detach their minds from reality. The show has nothing to do with legitimate survival tactics for the number one rule when you're alone in the wild is to slow down and think before acting. Bear places himself in sure peril non-stop if he were actually pulsed with Survival by sweating and running around in all directions like a mad man. He's an entertainment figure willing to act as crazy as he needs to in order to sustain a pay check,

  • @gokucrazy22 yo if anything les has the least amount of equipment, not bear. come on

  • @gokucrazy22 Les Stroud sets the scenario for an unskilled person to survive as long as possible and Ray Mears is for an absolute mastery of your surroundings and surviving comfortably or even indefinitely. Bear Grylls is if you wanna just be entertained and/or have a short adventure which ends in your own death (probably from falling off something you climbed for no apparent reason).

  • @Bouchon211 still, there will be a time when you need to do things like that. even les stroud does it periodically if he comes across one he can scale (example the colorado rocky mountains episode). the reason he can't do major things like bear grylls is that he has to lug around his camera gear. still, I also think that some of the stuff bear does is a little unnecessary...

  • @gokucrazy22 not really. bear grylls is sometimes good, but he eats things raw which could mean problems from bacteria or digestive problems. he also jumps off things, not knowing how deep the water is below. it is also fixed, meaning everything is checked thoroughly for safety before he does it. in other words, he is a man with bravery and courage but a lot of stupidity.

  • @gokucrazy22

bear grylls is a pussy compared to les stroud

  • @gokucrazy22 what a load of bollocks. Sounds like another armchair survivalist. Bear grylls is a fucking presenter and does things most blue peter hosts could do. Cant compare that to men who have lived most of their life in the outdoors with various local people all over the world and are now sharing it in an informative way with no stupid added drama.

  • this the stuff that makes me want to watch youtube..loads of info and great difinitions... thanks for posting!!!
