  • It's amazing how you never forget the words to these old songs...

  • This is one of my first favorite songs

  • I just love this song ..... Heard it when i was less than 10 years old and now i am already 47

  • Donna has an iconic voice in the same way that Karen Carpenter did. Beautiful and instantly recognizable.

  • i was going to the high school where she taught when she came out with this song

  • What's a nice Jewish girl to do when she wants to be a country singer?

  • My mom told me she and my dad used to listen to this song at 4:30 in the morning while they got ready for work at Vendo in Aurora Il. in 1972. Ugh

  • hate it

  • Makes me happy listening to this.

  • I love this song.

  • Great voice...she reminds me of Karen Carpenter as far as her looks go. Glad to read she's doing OK with MS.

  • beautiful song by a beautiful lady...thanks DOnna !!!

  • My favorite Donna Fargo song ever. What a beautiful lady. What a beautiful voice.

  • this was my favorite song when i was about 21-till now

  • When your really in love that son just works for ya regardless of the politics of the time.

  • this is my idea of the meaning of the song: a married couple waking up together, the wife is going to work, the husband has the day off.

The joy of newleywed love. Just my opinion.

  • @repentorburnbaby No they are both going to work, you fix my lunch I'll fix yours.

  • thanks, I love the song, I love the growl in Donna's voice, the growl in Gene Pitney's voice too.

  • @repentorburnbaby Yes, she has a nice pure voice. You don't see that a lot today, if I were a singer I wouldn't edit my voice to hell!

  • tears.

  • wow.. I guess this song would be concidered politically incorrect huh?

    faithful house wife.

    loves hubby.

    patriotic to the USA.

    acknowledges "The Lord"

    great song!!!

  • cool

  • i love this song

  • ♫ Fan"Tastic ♫

    !!!Thanx4Sharing!!! ♫ ♫XoX

  • I've heard she has Multiple Schlerosis or something and is now a quadraplegic - she may not be well.

  • She was diagnosed with MS in 1978 and although she was quite ill for a while she determined not to let the illness beat her. She is still active with book writing and greeting card designs. She is not a quadrapalegic.

  • Thanks so much for clarifying this - I appreciate it very much! She was always a favourite of mine and my younger aunts back in the 70's.

  • omg i just read a novel, and this song was mentioned on it, so i look for it, and i now i love it

  • Great post - thanks.

  • a real 'bible belt'girl from U S A

  • Donna was hot

  • Thaks SO much for sharing this!!!! I STILL have a crush on her! LOVE that song! ALWAYS brings back boyhood memories from the 1970's. Beautiful lady! Beautiful song! Beautiful times!

  • My mommy and daddy played this for me. I so miss those days.

  • This was the C&W Single of the Year for 1972. A great song that was also a huge pop hit. I think this performance might be from Hee-Haw but I am not sure. Either way thanks for posting it :)

  • Love this song. I seem to remember a song called "The Letter" by her, which I also like. If anyone can find it, it would be great.

  • i love how this song is on the nike: we have softball commercial! so beautiful i love it

  • That happens quite frequently. My best friend's older sister released a record on Capitol here in Canada back in 1989, and they cut 12 years off her age in her press releases - being over 30 (she was 39) was not deemed "marketable".

  • She was born November 10, 1941. She is 67.

  • That's getting closer but I still have my doubts because that would make her only 7 yrs older than I am and would mean she started teaching at age 20 after graduating from USC and completing a teaching certificate. She was more like 24 at the time. Enuf said.

  • @eileenkabush - That would make her an 18-yr old high school teacher. Most likely she's 72-74 now. She graduated from the University of Southern California and was just starting her singing career when she met her husband. They were married about the time time I was a senior in high school or around 1966. That made me 17 and she had been teaching at that time for about 4 years. No way was she only 21 at that time. She looks great for her age and particularly given her MS.

  • Her bio says she was born in 1946 on Wiki. It does say she was an English teacher. She should have kept her regular name. it sounds fine for a country singer.

  • @kurpsusa ....Yvonne Vaughn?? NO WONDER she changed her name! Bet she wasn't the happiest girl in the whole USA with that name!

  • What the hell is a BOJANGLE CLOCK anyway?

  • @nicoleakalilqueenie My interpretation of a bojangle clock is the old wind up alarm clocks with the bells and gong on top........lots were thrown against the wal.........

  • one of my friends was really tired and he started singing this song to me right out of the blue it was halirous!!

  • where does she perform that time ?

  • This beautiful song brought fame to Donna Fargo who went on to become a popular country singer in her time.

  • Brings back some happy memories - it was 1972, I was on a school trip to the USA and this was played a lot on WABC (back when it was one of the best music stations on the planet. As far as I recall, Gilbert O'Sullivan was number one at the time.

  • 1970-1973

  • Thank you for sharing this I really enjoy this song.

  • Batman, I know your pain - keep on telling Mom how much you love her and talk about fun childhood memories

  • I remember My mother listening to this when I was just a small kid so, when I hear this song it makes me think of Her. She's pretty sick and, I'm really worried. also, I just want to let Her know how much Her children love her, We couldn't have asked for a better mother if we tried.
