@hailandclouds Yes she is,and the last time I checked she was in California I am glad that you are a Gayla Peevey fan,and thank you for dropping by.. :)
Somebody poted a message in one of my yahoo groups to check out Gayla Peevery and I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas.I checked it out,and then all her other songs.I am a fan for life now.I think this one is my favorite.I wish her stuff would come out on CD.I would love to have some of her records, but they are going for a chunck of change on youtube. Thanks for posting all these songs.Bringing new fans.Wish we could get her music.
@hayleyscocoabear1 I'm glad that you droped by and enjoyed her songs.I still have a few that I have not put up yet.Eventhough I have most of her records,I would still love to have a cd.Since they put out several of Jimmy Boyd, who knows they just might.Yes her records are getting to expensive.I thought of uploading a new video of this one as I have a much better recording now.Glad that you are a fan of Gayla's,songs,& don't forget to check out her songs as Jamie Horton.Come by anytime... :)
I wish I had the money to get my hands on one of her records..... They go for quite a bit on ebay, that is if you can find one!!! She is great!! That phone commercial on TV really got ppl listening to her again.
Yes her records are selling for too much sometimes.Which commercial are you refering to.I don't remember hearing it.You wouldn't by chance happen to have it?Thanks for stopping by.
My sister and I used to sing this as children. We have been looking for this song for the past 20 years. I teach kindergarten and I want my kids to sing it for the Christmas Show. Thank you!!!
Gayla was from SW Oklahoma City where I am from. She put out several records as Gayla and later had a couple hits as Jamie Horton -"My Little Marine" and "Robot Man" which were popular enough to get her on American Bandstand. She became a teacher for awhile. Her daughter had posted an update on her on the internet one time. My favorite of her songs as Gayla Peevey was "I'm Too Young to Have a Broken Heart" which she recorded about age 13.
Thank you for that information.I didn't know that she was on American Bandstand.I posted My Little Marine and Robot Man.I have that song you like, and if I remember right it came out on a CD, but I'm not sure.I didn't know that she recorded at 13.I still have a few more of hers songs to post later.I hope you enjoyed this song.
Hi! Just wanted to thank you for all the Gayla Peevey and Jamie Horton songs you have put on here. I have really been enjoying them. I remember she did appeared once on the Ed Sullivan show after "hippo" was a big hit.
Your welcome.Your right about her songs not being on CD,and I think that there are too others besides "Hipp", but I don't have thoes CD's.Since they put out a Jimmy Boyd CD, who knows about her songs. There's always hope.Columbia could do it if they wanted to.So I post what I have for otheres to enjoy.Later
Glad that you both liked it.This makes me think of Dennis and Mr. Wilson.I will upload the other side later.Yes I also like Patience and Prudence. They had such a smooth sound on "Witchcraft"I have a video of them performing.
I adore this! I'm going to have to go through a Gayla Peevey Craze for a momement. I have known about "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas", but never thought anymore about this vocalist. She would be great in a collection along side Patience and Prudence.
luv it <3
