  • whoah !!! just amazed!

  • I love how at about 1:50 a guy walks by and he just looks up and goes "Hey man, What's up?" and doesn't even pause for a second, just keeps on going with the song while talking.

  • what's the song he play from 5:02 ?

  • @MiaVallas Blue Wind. Jeff Beck. He played that with Jeff Beck and Simon Phillips in the mid 80's. I think Stanley Clark played the original...

  • man...forgive me with being unfamiliar with Doug, but if that intro is improv it's amazing ...like a bass equivalent of stairway :)!

Now, if it ISN'T inmprov...someone better tell the name of that dang song, I want it lol

  • @Phodie56 I think it is a song called " Nova". Collidescope album...

  • what are these chords? right in the beggining?

  • genio

  • Love his right thumb, it's at a 90 degree angle to the rest of his thumb haha

  • LOL everyone knows who this is but no one knows he's name. In living color. Like the best black band ever!

  • hell yeah!!

  • i'm not fan but good ^^

  • The Seinfeld theme is the only thing that could have made this better

  • Dude, Fenders are trash compared to Spectors! I have had and played all of them and the others just can't cut it like a Spector can.....

  • he's jealous he didn't get signature fender.. lol

  • @JonnoThomas lol Fender xD play this on Fender...you won't get this nice colour of tone and harmonics

  • @Nukleon69 I think fender is way better than spector bass

  • @marcello1993ful Have you ever tried US or Euro Spector? I've never played better bass.

  • 6:50 smooth

  • He play with the drummer at 3:20 !

Very very good bass player, i love this video =D !

  • as good if not better yngwie,, satriani or guys like that are on a guitar the best lead style bass i have ever heard .. at the least up to now

  • It's a classical guitar technique; if ur right handed u place the harmonic with ur right index finger and pluck behind it with ur right thumb or middle finger. U can barre across with ur index finger as well for chords.

  • Wow! Excellent!! I think that bass needed a string change after that! I can imagine that bass screaming "MEDIC!". A true innovator.

  • he kinda looks like gilberto gil :)

  • Hats off to you doug !

  • Are those natural harmonics at 0:30?

  • @itachi456789 looks like he could be pushing the string down with his left hand and getting the harmonic by lightly touching his finger on the string while he plays the string if that makes sense.

  • I started watching this video reclined in my chair. By the end i was leaning in so close to the screen my nose nearly touched. AMAZING!

  • all that....and some Jeff Beck too!

  • Dude is dangerous because he brings the melody, harmony and rhythm. No many bassists can say that... I have his Rock House DVD and it is inspiring. He gets you thinking about the bass in different ways.

  • well that guy is a true master

  • men you should have recorded the fatty groove

  • DAMN!! That boy can jam!!!

  • amazed by the right hand technique.

  • this was incredible, I was there this was at NAMM show, I saw him... wow.

  • love how he starts jamming to the drum machine at 3:21 XD

  • Doug is great.loved his playing on the Sugarhill stuff and ever since.I met him this year working at guitar/drumfest U.K.He was really tired and jetlagged, but was still really friendly and even signed my bass.Legend.

  • His open-palm slapping is impressive (as well as the Spector's action & set-up...) but his tone with typical fingerstyle is so sweet! I like it the best!

  • fuckin awesome!!!

  • You had to recognize JEFF BECK IN THERE!!!!!

  • i must have heard 5 hits in his riffs!

  • if you could name a couple I would appreciate it because all I heard was portrait of tracy.

  • i hear living color @ 6:40 "cult of personality"

  • yo kits! are you talking about the issue with the rhcp? i have that same issue and i had not heard of tackhead, but what i read was enough for me to go out and find their records.

  • You should check out all the On-U stuff and the Sugerhill Gang work he and the others in Tackhead did as well.

  • WAAAAAAAAAW!!!

he started an improvisation once he heard the drums line coming from another booth somewhere

  • Great job!

  • SWEET playing by Mr. Wimbish! I've been a huge fan since reading about him in Guitar World way back when...I remember buying Tackhead's album the next time I went to the store! Great player, great basses!

  • Nice!
